Southern poached eggs on biscuits with gravy and grits. Perfect! Will certainly revisit this place again!

Everything you could ask for in a breakfast place near the beach. Great service, good food, fast kitchen! My favorite thing is you can get small pancakes as a side with your breakfast.

It was busy, but I was seated almost immediately. The menu us exactly what you’d expect from a pancake house, nothing special or out of the ordinary. The food is delicious and inexpensive, although the pancakes I had were a bit rubbery. Despite being busy, I got my order very quickly, and it was all hot, just like the coffee. I’m also a big fan of supporting local businesses, and for breakfast on a tight budget, you can’t go wrong with Kate’s.

Great breakfast. Could’ve used a few more grits on the plate. Egg plattters come with«baby» panckes which were surprisingly pretty big to me. Will definitely be back!

Awesome patient waitress made a great first time visit very pleasurable. Some of their food was extremely good. They had an awesome cup of coffee. Their hash brown and homefries were such a perfect pairing that I’d return just for that. I also got to sample their banana nut pancakes which was very moist and flavorful. I wouldn’t say their biscuits or omelets impressed me but they weren’t horrible. All in all a clean, friendly outfit with a few spot on breakfast staples.

This is a good little spot for breakfast. It’s usually pretty full but we’ve never waited more than 10 – 15 minutes for a table. Biscuits with sausage gravy is where it’s at.

Don’t let their old hours fool you, this place IS open during the winter this year. Thursday thru Sunday they are open and you MUST go! I had the Cajun chicken omelette and it was so good. Coffee was good as well and it never got low or cold. The wait staff was very friendly and helped me make a decision on what to get(the omelette). So if you are in the area this off season come see Taylor and have an awesome breakfast!

As Vegans my wife and I have a difficult time finding places to eat. Kate’s is very friendly with a Healthy burrito made with Tofu.(green peppers, avocado, beans, in a wheat wrapper). Highly recommended!

This place was awesome! The hosts and servers were very friendly. The Irish Benedict was amazing, we camped out on Carolina beach and went here the next morning pretty hungover and this place was the cure. Good prices and great portions, we will be going back next time we are in town.

Excellent breakfast selection. Brought me almost too much food in the form of their Rueben Omelet with home fries and Reese’s baby pancakes. Our server, Shannon, was great.

Just had breakfast with the family before hitting the beach. We were so impressed by the friendly staff! It was pretty busy but service was excellent. I had the veggie omelet and hubby had the philly steak omelet. Pancakes for the kids to share! The omelets ate HUGE and yummy. We will come back for sure!

Kate’s is a local breakfast destination in CB. You may have to wait a few minutes because it is so popular but the line moves quickly. There is a main room that is bustling with guests and you will see Kate running the cash register right at the entrance. There is another quiet area towards the front of the restaurant with glass windows and little booths. We were lucky enough to sit in this area and it was perfect. Our server was very attentive and came by a few times to check on us. The Western Omelette was fresh with ham and veggies and the side of potatoes were plentiful. My dining partner had the Eggs Benedict Crabcakes and those were full of crabmeat. We also shared a side of small Kate’s pancakes and they were scrumptious. Kate’s does not take American Express so bring cash or Visa or Mastercard.

Kate’s Pancake House is right in the middle of everything. The coffee, which is noted as worse than horrible in many reviews isn’t actually all that terrible. When I went for breakfast we were one of two tables so the waitstaff was very attentive, but I imagine this place being a nightmare during a rush — there are just too many tables. The food wasn’t spectacular but the pancakes were really good. I’m not sure it lives up to the hype on their signage but it’s at least an ok breakfast place. They do a nice thing where you can round up your bill to donate to a local cancer non-profit where the proceeds go to relaxing vacations for diagnosed patients and their families. The little flyer has a noose instead of a lasso, but we can forgive the designer — leave it to me to notice the little things.

We visited Kate’s pancake house over Father’s Day coincidentally but we’re just some friends visiting the beach. The restaurant is on the smaller side but is comfortable. The staff is very friendly and nice and they have a small outdoor shaded area where you can wait to be seated. Once we got seated at our table we were there for breakfast and quickly ordered our food. We ordered a tofu griddle, a Spanish omelette, a Belgian waffle and a wheat banana pancake. Items arrived quickly and efficiently. The tofu was ok, the tofu was not seasoned so it was a 2.5÷5. The Spanish omelette was decent I would give it a 3⁄5. The pancake my fiend has she enjoyed and would consider giving a 3.5÷5. The waffle was a sad looking waffle right out of the waffle iron and felt empty and naked. My friend was not impressed and would give it a 2⁄5. All in all, I wouldn’t expect a whole lot out of this place. If you want breakfast food, support the locals and want friendly staff, this is an ok place to go.

About what one would expect from a country kitchen sort-of place at Carolina Beach — Standard greasy breakfast fare, okay coffee, not quite«vintage» furnishings, & a mix of country /beach décor. It’s a full service diner-type operation where you’re seated, waited on, & then you pay your ticket at the counter on your way out. The service, I must say, was great. The menu boasts two pages of pancake & French toast variations though sadly, there are NO gluten-free bread nor pancake options. I ordered a breakfast platter with eggs, potatoes, grits, & bacon & was allowed to substitute fruit for the pancakes & toast which was nice; the grits by far were the best thing on the plate. Not sure what brand of orange juice they serve, but it was ridiculously overly sweet, to the point I could not drink it. The husband had an omelet, which he said was good. Overall, it was just«okay.»
