We had a good experience. Friendly waitress, prompt service, tasty food. It’s exactly what you’d expect, diner food. Bacon cheese fries were awesome. Burger was great. Inexpensive. They got a 90 on their health inspection, so there’s that.

Wrote the same review on trip advisor: over priced, always out of ice cream and something is always broken. Tonight: no chocolate, no vanilla, no milkshakes, nothing sugar free for my diabetic grandmother. I paid $ 14 for two sundaes and an ice cream cone. I’ve finally learned my lesson and will not be back.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Great burgers to die for and all around great comfort food. A regular eat for this local. I recommend their dinky double, my favorite. Also as fabulous are their onion rings and fries, and Mac and cheese bites. Heck, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely swing by if in town.

Just had a great lunch here! The ladies working were busy and still found the time to give courteous, friendly service. I had the crab cake Sammie with sweet fries and pink lemonade. It was all tasty. I wasn’t expecting it to be so warm in February and didn’t pack any T shirts. I now have a Pop’s Diner T

Clueless staff. Not engaging at all. Philly cheese steak was the worse. Are you kidding me??? Learn to cook a decent cheese steak !!! You’re a diner for Petes sake !!! Price was ok but I expected better food and much better service. You guys are going downhill from a few years ago. You need attentive staff and better food. What happened??? So sad to see this Carolina Beach institution fall by the wayside. Please come back strong !!!

At Pop’s diner, the food was really good, the restaurant decorations were cool and unique, and the service was good. I ordered the mild wings, and we got fried banana peppers. They were like onion rings, but with banana peppers instead of onions. It was delicious! The wings were spicy, but not too spicy and really good. There were picture tiles on the floor. I also really liked the statue of a hot dog outside putting ketchup and mustard on itself. I think the food was really good, you should go there!

Pop’s Diner has a giant hotdog standing outside putting on his own condiments, and diner is written on the windows, and it’s a place many locals who’ve lived here longer than I me have recommended. So rather than making a return trip to Island Hots, my mum and I stopped in for lunch. The sign outside says«Fresh, Homemade Food & Soups», which is a huge draw for me because when I think of diners, I think of large menus filled with simple plates of filling dishes. Just as with Island Hots, we ordered some onion rings; I’ve noticed that you can tell a lot about a diner/hotdog/burger joint by its onion rings. Read the rest of my review on my blog at

Been hitting this place regularly for a couple years now. Surprised I hadn’t reviewed yet. The food!!! So good!!! I came here after surgery once just for the best milkshake. The Footlong can’t be beat by any other hot dog stand in town. The fries. The servers. The sweet kicked back diner style of the joint. I’m not big on fried seafood — but did try the fried shrimp — wow!!! Huge! Perfection! Light. Airy. Crispy. Succulent! So wonderful.

LOVETHISPLACE!!! I recommend everything! They have peach lemonade and it is really good. Their brisket is my dads favorite. My mom recommends the chicken salad on a croissant. I always get the grilled tender sand which. If you just get the tenders you get 8. Thats a lot of food. Cheese fries are amazing to share. A basket is enough for two people.

Decent café, I havent tried enough to give a truly accurate review so it’s a 3 star for excellent service for now. I’ll make it four stars if the food is any better than greasy heaven. Otherwise good junk food.

The best place to go after you’re done drinking for the night. Stays open until 3AM. Perfect. The wait staff was very friendly and the service was fast. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese bites — fried little nuggets of awesome. Expect it to be loud and Full of laughter at 3AM with the other drunk fools. You’re probably one of them anyhow. :-)

Love it here! If I lived in CB I would seriously go here all the time. Food is cheap, service is fast and the atmosphere is fun. A definite must try is their fried Oreos omg it’s the best thing ever!

With mixed reviews I was a little nervous but sooooo impressed!!! I had a turkey burger that was THEBOMB, I even asked the waitress if it was a turkey burger because it was so tasty! A large array of drinks from kool aid(yes kool aid) sweet tea to milk shakes. The bar b que sauce was home made and oh so good! We brought some home with us! I ordered turkey burger and unsweetened tea, two kids meals of hotdogs and fries, a chicken platter and sweet tea. Fries were home made or appeared and tasted home made. Room for improvement… The hot dogs, I HATE deep fried hot dogs. Gross !!! But the onion rings were fresh and Krispy. We also has soft serve ice cream flavored. A small is more than most average adults can eat. The décor was cute, 50’s, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, a jute box and the floors were so cute! Family friendly, relaxing a go to place on carolina beAch

This place is a diner first and foremost. Perhaps only. :) I arrived after a cold bike ride down trafficked CB road. I was greeted warmly and offered some fresh coffee. The menu didn’t invoke curious thoughts of butter poached bass, but it did offer more diner style selections than I would’ve imagined. The ordering was mainly a la carte, but knowing what I know now, that is fine, one sandwich will leave you full. We ordered 2 different sammies and a basket of onion rings. Then of course had to try a dessert. The sammies exceeded my hopes, the dessert was good. I was hoping for a huge home made cake of sorts, but I didn’t really give the menu much consideration as I was painfully full at that point anyway. All in all, pops is a beautiful diner situated right on the main drag in CB, great place to stop in for a bite and meet some locals.

We needed a little snack in between meals and stopped in to share some fries and drinks. The waitress was nice and since everything is made to order, it takes a little bit to get your food. The fries were well fried, hot and tasty. The decorations inside are fun. Where else do you see baseball cards, 45’s and other decals laminated to the floor? It definitely keeps your eyes roving while waiting for your food! Would love to return sometime for an hot dog or burger!

No. Just… no. This is one of the places that my grandmother apparently frequents, and she wanted to take me because she said they have this delicious«Jamaican relish» that they put on their hot dogs. I was game, and I love a good hot dog, so off we went. The first thing that struck me when I walked into the restaurant was the smell. The entire place smelled… musty. Horribly, horribly musty. We were taken to a table in the side room on the left, and all I could think was that the flooring must not have been cleaned in FOREVER. That’s what smelled! I mean, I know that you’re by the ocean… dealing with the moisture and the salt in the air and whatnot… but that’s no excuse. Gross. A waitress came over after a short bit and took our orders. She didn’t really seem at all interested, or like she cared about being there… but whatever. My expectations for this place had plummeted from the smell of the carpet alone. She brought back our drinks(including my Diet Coke, which was filled to the brim with ice and making it so there was barely anything in there to drink) and took our order. Besides the hot dogs that my grandmother and I ordered, I ordered pickle chips. The pickle chips were pretty much the only saving grace for this place. After a while, she came back with our food. To be blunt, it didn’t look appetizing at all. While my pickle chips were fine(at least they were fried decently — not burnt or too coated with oil or anything), everything else looked pretty unappetizing. My hot dog roll looked like it had been stuffed in a cabinet, or had stuff piled on it, before it was taken out of a package for use/to serve. My hot dog itself was burnt on the outside, but still fairly uncooked on the inside. The Jamaican relish was bland, and didn’t really have any«Jamaican» flavor. Everything was just really off-putting. TL;DR I would never opt to come back here, and would only return if I visited my grandmother in Carolina Beach again and I couldn’t talk her out of a visit. All in all? 2/10, but only because the pickle chips were cooked decently enough.
