Shuckin’ Shack

Came in on a Tuesday night around 6pm, mid-​June. The place was already very busy. It’s a small location with few seating– we ended up sitting at the bar. We made it in good timing though because a line was forming outside! The bartender was very nice and helpful. I got the Fish Sandwich, which came with fries and cole slaw. Really enjoyed it! The sauce that came with the sandwich was tangy and flavorful and the cole slaw was the best I’ve ever had! I almost just wanted to ask for a whole bowl of cole slaw haha, it was that good. They had a drink special of $ 4 margaritas, which were not the best but still okay. The food didn’t take too long to come out. Overall, I liked the atmosphere but it was quite loud and a little crowded. The food made it worth it though!

We really enjoyed a visit here. The waitress was great– blunt and fun. The steamed platter was excellent, the ambiance was fun and divey, exactly what we wanted for a day at the beach.
I enjoyed their clams and my father got oysters and said they were great. My husband, who doesn’t eat seafood, got their chicken wings and still raves about them.
This is the standard to which we consider beach-​eating.

Havnt had the food yet, have seen it a bunch Im a once a weeker and always smells n looks delicious. I go for there well priced drinks, being on the island some places super overprice there stuff but these guys dont. Staff is attentive and happy to help you

Wow! So glad we had the chance to eat here while in Carolina Beach. Food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a dozen oysters and then a steamed combo platter of shrimp, mussels and crab legs.
The place is very small. Seating is first come first serve. You have to be willing to wait for bar seats or a table to open up.

So… we followed Unilocal advice, had a smattering of recommended items, and walked away with a big bill, not feeling too satisfied. Mostly a bar that serves seafood. There were several chunks of shell in my lobster sandwich, which wasn’t pleasant. I had to wait too long for my bill. Understaffed. My kids did enjoy the crab legs, but the portions weren’t as large as others have suggested. The fries were tasty. Overall, just an average experience.

Omg this place is amazing!!! Came back twice in our trip because it was so good! $ 15/​lb of big super fresh snow crab legs. They were so sweet and delicious!!! Their corn is also really really good!

Stopped here on my first weekend at Carolina Beach. I saw the reviews and tried to get in several times on Friday and Saturday but it was too full. Tried again Sunday and barely got in, but got a seat at the bar :) I had a mixed drink (forgot the name but it was great and contained a generous amount of liquor), and the peel and eat lemon pepper shrimp. DELICIOUS. My daughter had the chicken strips and hush puppies and was very happy. If I get to come back to this down I will sure be back to eat here. Also I left my credit card by accident, and even though the waitress was extremely busy, she took the time to come outside to look for me! I don’t think the staff ever get to take a break, but they were very nice.

This place is the bomb for food. I had a low country boil that was fantastic. The shrimp was perfect and who doesn’t love old bay seasoning! My buddy had oysters, snow crab legs and wings. All good was great. This place is small so it will be tough for large parties but the staff worked hard and were very friendly. Highly recommend.

Great atmosphere with great food. The service was friendly and not only would your server check on you but anybody that walked past would offer to help you out. I had the old bay shrimp, hush puppies and 1lb of crab legs, which were done to perfection. I only have one regret, I wish I would have found this place earlier!

Food, service, atmosphere, and price… Excellent. We had a great time here and everything was great. Make sure if you’re in Topsail you take some time to enjoy this place.

Great atmosphere, good food and conveniently situated next to a restaurant that gets no customers, so you can steal their outdoor stools for additional seating.

Yum yum. A yummy hole in the wall. Broiled shrimp were outstanding! Oysters in the half shell really fat and good. Wings were the bomb! Definitely wood go back. Small place but worth it!

Been meaning to post this for a few days. Went in there on a busy Wednesday lunch. There was one bartender taking care of the place, granted its a small restaurant but she did an amazing job taking care of easily 20+ guests and running food, getting drinks… Very impressed. Food was the best around!

Delicious fresh seafood — extra bonus in my oysters were baby crab– talk about delicious! Dig in, don’t be shy, and be prepared to eat like kings! Quick attentive service, great drink specials — I could be a regular…

Lowering my star rating here, prices either double or trippled from my last vist. No longer an inexpensive seafood option but still pretty darn good. Just plan to eat less and spend more. Yes, very much over priced. For example their wings are $ 2 per wing. Go to deck house for nice clean sit down full service restaurant with excellent food for less. I dont know what Shuckin Shack is thinking.

Great little joint! Had the lobster roll and it was awesome! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Got the T-​shirt!

The food is AMAZING
Caroline makes the absolute best LIT in the country (as someone who has come from California to NC I feel qualified to say so)
And the atmosphere is incredible. Hang out for a while and you will feel like you’ve know the bar maids since you were a child!!!

We’re here very much in the off season (early February) and were just happy to see an open restaurant! there’s a bar but otherwise there’s only 3 tables to eat at, 2 of them that seat 2 and 1 that seats 4. I don’t know if it was the acoustics or the voices that just carried but it was VERY loud, and it really wasn’t all that crowded so I can only imagine how deafening it can be if it’s packed. So, short story with ambiance is this place is definitely for adults only (which is a plus, I think).
We each got crab legs and they were UNBELIEVABLY good and it seemed like more than a pound to me. I got the slaw (which is usually, at best, benign in most places — this was really tasty) and my husband got fries (a little too spicy for my taste but I’m a spice wimp). I got the bloody mary because of reviews I read and I have to say, those good reviews are well deserved. It tasted more like cocktail sauce with a kick than the usual bloody mary mix — just really tasty.
everyone was exceptionally friendly and I’d definitely go back and recommend it to others but because of the noise level, it may not be to everyone’s taste.

Hands down 5 stars. Small, quaint, nice people, good beer selection, phenomenal service (Sarah kills it), dreamy bloody Mary’s and a menu where you can’t go wrong no matter what you order. This place is top quality And if you can grab a seat– consider yourself lucky!

Our go to place for peeling shrimp. The ‘Shack Attack’ is the best bloody mary ever.
