Ceremony Salon

So I’ve lived in North Carolina for 3 years now and have had the most horrible time finding someone who met the greatness of doing hair as my old hairstylist in California. My search is finally over and I couldn’t be happier. Kyle is great at what he does, and actually exceeded my expectations! He’s very nice, there weren’t long awkward pauses in conversation, but most importantly he is a great hairdresser. If you’re having as hard a time finding a great stylist like I did, please don’t search for 3 years like I had to. Just come see Kyle and you’ll be happy. The other stylists here also did amazing work on their clients.

I have spent many hours here with my kids who have a variety of hair care needs. We’ve had haircuts and color changes from purple to blue. They have all been very happy with everything and it’s definitely a cool place for teens to get creative or play it safe. They do what you ask and are very nice. The salon stands by its work and cares about the outcomes.
We’ve seen both Mary and Erika and both are great. Mary was kind enough to call us to remind my daughter not to wash her hair a few days before coloring which was helpful and appreciated!
I haven’t had my hair done here or anywhere in a long time since I have lost a lot of hair due to illness but if I had it I’d be styling it up for realsies.
The only things I would improve is the lighting is very harsh and bright. It can also get hot in here with everything going on. We’ve only had one appt that started on time so that could be better. Also I would be psyched if they added a self serve ICEE machine. It’s still a five star experience regardless.

I had been going to the same hairdresser for 30 years, so when I moved to Durham, I had to start the daunting task of finding a new one — not an easy task when you are 60 years old and the same guy has been doing your hair for longer than your new one has been alive. My sister goes to Ceremony, so I made an appointment.
Well, that’s one less thing I have to look for, because Annie at Ceremony is really something special — young and full of hopes and dreams, but still able to relate to us older (but young at heart) ladies. She took my foil-​frosted hair, added lowlights AND highlights and made my existing style better, and showed me how to blow dry it. I’m ecstatic with the result, and my hair has found its new home in North Carolina.

Went to get my eye brows waxed by Nahialy and she did an amazing job! She took her time and didn’t rush at all. I will absolutely be back. A+ service!

It was a pleasure to have my hair cut and coloured by Katie! She listened to me and took into consideration my wishes and concerns before advising me. I have very sensitive and damaged hair and I’ve had good and bad experiences with hair stylists, but I’m alway a bit anxious before going to a new salon because I do not know what to expect. Some stylists are great artists, they have great visions for the hair you «could» have by the end of your appointment, but fail to consider your particular type of hair, and this makes all the difference. Katie, however, made sure to select the right products for my colour and to ask about the length I wanted for my hair. Everything was perfect from start to finish, and I can say that this was definitely the best service I’ve ever had in a salon. The staff did everything to make me comfortable and I left with the colour and cut I wanted. The place was clean and organized, the design is just beautiful, and the music added something else, I could have stayed there for hours. I completely trust them with my hair, and I will be coming back shortly for a touch up.

I have struggled finding a hair stylist who understands my hair. Finally I found Annie Mercer. She has cut and styled my hair a couple of times and I am beyond pleased every time. She spends time to understand what I am looking for in a hair cut and discusses options and amounts to be cut, layers Etc. She does not pressure to buy products though I always walk out with shiny, soft, amazing smelling hair. She is also a joy to talk with while having my hair done!

They made my hair purple which was pretty good! I loved the color and the service was good as well. The people were also nice. The music they played was ok but I would chose more «modern» stuff

These ladies are amazing. I scheduled appointments for my mum and I to get our hair cut. I had some photos and they took the time to chat with us about our hair, what we wanted, how we style it, and it is absolutely everything we could have asked for. If you’re looking for an awesome salon with some kick butt, knowledgeable staff, this is the place to go!

You couldn’t ask for more caring and compassionate stylists! I came in this week for the first time — I moved to NC a few weeks ago and had a permanent straightening touch up at a different salon in Raleigh that damaged my hair severely. Amelia spent close to 3 hours consulting me, sympathizing deeply over the psychological toll the hair loss will be for me for the foreseeable future and offering an incredible amount of support and guidance. Alyshia examined my hair as well and was just as amazing — their emotional response was if I had been a client for years. I cannot express how grateful I am to both these ladies and how blown away I was with everything they did for my hair and psyche. Being so new to NC, I don’t know a lot of people here, so feeling as though I have friends in Carrboro to listen and literally cry in sympathy is unbelievable — I’ll forever be grateful. There’s no doubt that Amelia, Alyshia and Ceremony Salon have easily won my complete loyalty — they have a client for life.

I’ve found my new go-​to salon in the area! The service and ambiance of Ceremony are both awesome, and the staff is really knowledgeable. Love the haircut I got from Amelia. Will definitely be returning!

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Annie and the team at Ceremony for my bridal hair and make up. Annie listened to my during my trials and was an expert. She made me look fabulous as well.
This salon is extremely organized, professional and has a great ambiance. Alicia at the front desk is on top of her stuff and always a professional!

The hair styling was pretty average, however, they did not tell me that three specific styles were $ 125, so a VERY SIMPLE side bun cost $ 125 and their website led us believe that all updos were $ 75, so you have to be upfront about your price preference. Leaving here annoyed and overcharged…

Rachel is amazing!!! But so are all the stylists I’ve met! Great space, friendly-​trendy-​but not too «overly» trendy-​love the product lines they have. Looking for a new hair experience you should call :)

I recently moved to NC and have been looking for a hairdresser for sometime. Erica was my stylist and she was awesome. I really like this salon, they were willing to work with me to give me what I wanted and they use really high end products in your hair. I get my hair dyed crazy colors and it’s hard to find a salon that uses pravana color and also knows how to put it in. All the staff was super friendly, I’ll definitely be back again.

Omg, where have you been all my life?! This is THE BEST salon I have ever been to. Annie rocks! I’m never going anywhere else. Love love love

Ceremony rocks! After a few failed highlight/​trim attempts in various other salons in the area I am so happy that Ceremony opened its doors and I was able to have Annie work on my hair. She knew exactly how to handle highlights in my blond hair and gave me beautiful, textured color without damaging my hair in the least! It feels softer and smoother than it has in months. I couldn’t have spent my afternoon in better company and I can’t wait to go back!

After moving here a year ago and trying three other stylists in the area (one of whom butchered my hair with a razor), I am SO thankful to have finally found Annie Mercer at Ceremony Salon. I have such thick hair that I think people just don’t know what to do with it, plus I’m growing out a pixie, which is always awkward. Annie gave me the perfect cut that let me keep most of my length, and knew exactly what she was doing with my hair’s thickness. My ‘do looks better than it has looked since I moved here, and people have already complimented me on it.
I also really loved chatting with Annie. She was so welcoming and fun! I will be a customer for as long as they’ll have me.

Love this place — the ladies of Ceremony do fabulous work! I went mid-​August for a cut and gloss and saw Mary. She did a wonderful job on my hair getting the length right, and boy, is their gloss treatment amazing — I’m not sure my hair has ever looked so healthy/​shiny! She definitely knows what she’s doing — I love that she listened to what I wanted while also lending some expert advice on what would work well for my hair texture.
While there, we discussed that I was doing my bridal portraits the next week and I inquired about formal hairstyling and makeup services. Mary introduced me to Annie, who does makeup (and hair) there. I was able to make an appointment pre-​portrait session for the next Monday — hair and makeup with Annie. She came in specifically to work with me and we looked over pictures on Pinterest and developed a plan that I was super-​happy with. We had a blast getting me picture-​ready! She did my hair for my wedding as well (I had already signed my former aesthetician on for makeup that day). I was thrilled with how it turned out and I got tons of compliments on the styling!
So, check it out over at Ceremony — everyone I’ve interacted with is totally fun and awesome at what they do! The space is great and you can park in that new garage behind the new Hampton Inn (yay for free parking!). Also, love the product line, R+Co, that they use. I’ll definitely be back soon for my post-​wedding cut!

I have been Rachel’s client for 5 years now. She is a fantastic stylist, she has done hair for New York fashion week and is incredibly creative. Rachel has styled my hair from short to long and back again. I have gone from a pixie cut to below shoulder length and back to a bob. She has rocked every cut and every style. Rachel also does fabulous color. Make an appointment, you won’t be disappointed.

My 13 year old daughter was nervous about getting her very long hair cut short. She wanted to make sure that it looked feminine and cute — a stylish pixie cut. We booked her for an appointment today on their opening day, and were THRILLED!
The salon is located at 300 East Main, underneath the new Hampton Inn in Carrboro, and is designed beautifully. It has an open design, large round beveled mirrors, and wood tones, with a very natural feel. The owner, Rachel, is experienced and professional, and has done a wonderful job setting up the new place. We arrived a few minutes early, and were greeted by a woman who offered us a water or coffee while we waited.
Erica was my daughter’s stylist. She was friendly, and took time to find out exactly what my daughter wanted before beginning. She helped explain to my daughter how to style her hair, and gave tips for maintenance. My daughter was THRILLED at how it turned out!
Overall, a wonderful experience!
