Favorite place in town for Bbq and Brunswick stew. Hamburgers are great. Banana pudding is great

Great food for great prices. The barbeque is ok, not great. But for a meat-n-three the food is good. Not a place to drive to but if you’re in the area and want a good cheap lunch or dinner, this is a good place to go.

I come from Texas, and I’ve eaten at all the top-rated Texas BBQ joints(Black’s, Kreuz Market, Salt Lick). While I prefer TXBBQ over Georgia BBQ, let’s just establish that I come to BBQ joints as a companion to BBQ eaters. When I go to BBQ joints, I am scanning the menu for healthy non-BBQ offerings. So, in this review, I offer the perspective of a non-barbeque eater. Hey, we need to eat, too! Billy Bob’s scores high for me in its non-BBQ offerings. My favorite meal to order is the Vegetable Plate, and in the 4 times I’ve ordered it, it has not disappointed. Baked sweet potato, green beans, sweet fresh corn, collard greens, lima beans, mashed potatoes, etc(you pick 4 items from about 8 or 9 choices, some of which vary based on the day). The food is tasty, hot, and fresh enough.(I like good ingredients, and their food does not taste overwhelmingly canned or pre-made). I leave Billy Bob’s knowing I have had a healthy, wholesome meal, and in spite of its being mostly vegetables, I also leave with the sense that I had a meal with nice variety of flavor and texture. The service is excellent. The proprietor, an older male gentleman makes a point of checking on every table when he’s on the premises. The wait staff and the cashiers work their rears off, and the cooks even more, perhaps. I like to sit at the counter and watch the well-oiled«restaurant machine» that is Billy Bob’s. Several restaurants in town could learn a thing or 2 from BB’s in terms of how you serve people effectively. So, I urge you to check out Billy Bob’s for its non-BBQ offerings. You won’t have to take a nap afterwards, and the food is pretty darn good!

The BBQ is very good! They serve Cajun dishes and fresh veggies every day! I’ve eaten here for years and have never been disappointed!

Alright, the service isn’t always great. Yes, I have driven away from the drive-thru once or twice before ordering… But I cannot find it in my heart to give Billy Bobs, the longest running BBQ joint in town(as far as I can remember), a bad rating. The food is good. THEBESTBURGERINTOWN if you have taste. No, this is not the best BBQ in town, but I like it when I’m in the mood for it. If you’re coming from out of town, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re used to high dining(Geez, this is a small rural town, which even many of the citizens seem to forget), but obviously most of the people in town have had Billy Bobs and either love it or were turned off by the service.

The food is decent at best. Their BBQ egg rolls are pretty good but the service is hit or miss. I went through the drive through and was attempting to order. There was a hand written list of sides on the sign. Ok, it’s not a major establishment, menu items change. I order but what I want they’re out of. Ok no big deal. It’s later(8pm), they probably ran out. I order again, out of that too so I asked if they were out of anything else before I order again, I was told no that was all. I placed the order for my husband and was about to place mine when I was given my total and cut off. They don’t have a drive through like mcdonalds so just talking to the box won’t do any good. I was never asked if that was all or I wanted anything else. That’s not the first time I’ve received horrible customer service. They staff roll their eyes if you ask a simple question and they’re just plain rude. Like I said the food is ok, but you can get better BBQ at the shack on the side of the road at the Triangle and better service, too.

I try to shy away from giving poor ratings because I know the service I had at Billy Bob’s was good and the people were very nice, but after visiting 100s of BBQ spots across the US — this might be the worst. I came here after fishing a farm pond with three buddies(and with three guys that will eat just about anything) and we all agreed the food was terrible. I’m looking for a silver lining — and other than it’s cheap and the the sweet tea was good — there isn’t much positive to say. The BBQ was terrible — all of it — and we tried just about everything. It’s about a close to cafeteria food as it’s gets. This place needs that«Restaurant Impossible» show to provide a facelift or the doors could close soon.

TERRIBLE!!! The only thing good about my food was the side items(beans and potato salad). How does a place get away with such nasty bar-b-que. The sauce was disgusting, the meat was dry, and the overall quality was just bad. Avoid this place if your tastebuds actually work.

Good representation of Georgia style sauce. It’s a little lemony and unlike the sweet red sauces that we tend to see closer to the center of ATL. The sides are solid, and I appreciate folks who can do beans up proper. I wouldn’t drive from Atlanta for this, but I would absolutely stop by again if I was in the area.

As a native of Carrollton, I would like to say, I really like the BBQ here, and, I’ve definately had worse. At least it doesn’t taste like they boiled the bbq like some places I have tried. It has been around for many years. It was approx 5 years ago when they catered to where I worked in Bremen, Ga. If you love pickles, then you will love their pickles. They are alot different than other places. They are very tasty & are like those kind that are crunchy, fresh, & usually hard to find. Their sweet tea is very good & very sweet like I prefer it. I too find that going by how a place’s sweet tea and ranch dressing tastes is a pretty good way to tell how the food is going to be. The service is usually very quick & painless as well. The prices are reasonable & about average to any other bbq place, depending on what you order(bbq vrs steak). They have never gotten my order wrong the many, many years that I have eaten here and the owners are very hospitable and overall friendly. They could improve on the cramped seating. It is a very small place with only booths to sit in while Carrollton’s population continues to grow in number. Overall it is a pretty decent place to eat. Try not to base your decision to eat here on a bbq place say in Atlanta because it’s a given that it is a place with more limited resources & it would be inaccurare basing a decision against a place in a bigger city. Sometimes small town places turn out to be a favorite for a number of reasons. I’m going to sum it up with this, if you are a customer from out of town, it’s inevitable that you will be taking a risk of it not living up to your own bbq place back home, but if you don’t overthink eating here, it can be a pleasant eating experience. When you eat somewhere while your out of town it is going to be a risk wherever you choose to eat, right, so I say give this place a try! Come On And Eat Here With An Open Mind And Leave With A Full Tummy!

What a JOKE. Terrible, lame excuse for Bar B Q. They advertise«Voted Best in Ga(by some no name magazine)», but the fail to mention that they received an awful review in Atlanta magazine just last year, as in bottom 10 awful. Give it a shot if mystery bar b q is your favorite. BTW, the stew is actually tasty, but they buy it pre-made.

We were out enjoying the day on the motorcycle and were in the area so we figured we’d stop by for some bbq. I brought up the one Unilocal review I saw and suddenly we weren’t sure if we really wanted to stay or not but in the end we’re glad we did. I’m going to have to give this place three stars because I truly feel it’s A-OK. Would I go out of Midtown to seek out this bbq? No. But I would certainly stop by again if we were in the area. While it is true that the restaurant itself lacks the smokey smell that usually comes along with bbq, you can clearly see the smokehouse to the side/back of the restaurant so you know it’s actually smoked. They have a variety of sauces to choose from: Mustard, hickory smoked, sweet, and the more vinegar based type. We opted for the hickory smoked and weren’t disappointed with our selection. The hubs got a side of cole slaw and Brunswick stew while I got the slaw and baked beans with cornbread(extra piece, please) The slaw was pretty good and almost old-style KFC-ish but it was lacking one ingredient: Pepper. I topped it off with a bit of the black substance and it gave the slaw the little extra taste it needed. The baked beans weren’t the best I’ve had and I actually only ate a couple of bites. While the cornbread was homemade it wasn’t as sweet as I like but it wasn’t bad at all and I did end up eating both pieces. Oh, and their sweet tea was decent. Side note: We have been to several bbq places and the crappiest bbq we’ve ever had was at a place where the sweet tea tasted like dirt(no kidding. Dirt.) so we tend to make that our base reference. The service was quick and friendly like a family-owned environment and the owner came out to greet us and to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. If you’re ever in the Carrollton area give it a try!

When I walked in the first thing that caught my attention was the absence of that delicious smokey smell. I asked the girl where the pit was and she said out back. OK, that made me feel a little better. I ordered a pork sandwich and slaw, my friend ordered a combo plate with brisket and pork with baked beans and potato salad. The sauce on the table was mustard based and not really to my liking. I found the mustard flavor to be entirely overpowering and the sauce lacking balance of vinegar and sweet. It kind of tasted like straight mustard. The pork really finely chopped and lacked any smokey smell and those delicious little bits of the outside that are darker, more flavorful, and a little crunchy. There was a red sauce on the sandwich that tasted a little too much like ketchup for me. The slaw was finely chopped and pretty tasty. Good for putting on a sandwich. My friend’s plate had the same lame pork and brisket that was chopped beyond recognition and nearing the consistency of baby food. The brisket also lacked the smokiness one would expect. In fact, it was very difficult to tell the difference between the pork and the brisket. The potato salad had come out of tub probably purchased from Sysco or US Foods. The beans were tasty. In summary, we liked the slaw and the beans. The real bummer is right after we ate there we drove through downtown Carrollton right past a Memphis BBQ and Blues place. I could smell the smoke for blocks. I know where I am going to eat the next time I am in Carrollton.
