Originally saw them on a repeat epidode of DDD turns out it aired in 2008 for the first time. Took a drive today and it was so worth it. My husband and father in law started off with oysters and Unisex Crab Soup. The soup was rich and creamy. Loaded with crab meat. I had the daily fish special Corvina(sp?) The white fish was light, flaky and tasty. Wish I had more now. Service was friendly and knowledgeable it was not very attentive. I attribute that to being the office season and beautiful weather meant they were busy. So worth the drive.

Soup was too thick and not very hot. Tasted re heated, not fresh. Waited over an hour for food after ordering. Customer service was fine. Nothing special.

My husband and I love this place! Amazing, delicious, and FRESH seafood(which is the most important part). The service is also outstanding. Great country, laid back atmosphere, beautiful scenery and they always remember us whenever we go back!

Best seafood! Greatly enjoyed the Corvina bites and clam strips! Generous portions– tried the fried shrimp and it was great too! Only matched by the water view. Excellent staff who truly made our visit a pleasure!

This is by far one of me and my husbands favorite places to go. We love to Kayak over from Jones Creek boat dock to have a drink on the deck, share an appetizer and watch the sunset. The service here has always been welcoming! The prices are a bit high, but because we always get such great service, we don’t mind paying a little extra. The last time we were there, the new owner came over and introduced herself to us. She seemed very genuine and stayed for small talk for a few minutes. We’ve never ordered anything off the menu that we didn’t like, except the soft crab(this is just my opinion, others may love it) Everything else is always cooked fresh. The shrimp is delish! The last time we were there, we noticed a lot more families and kids. I like that! Its a very laid back atmosphere with casual dress and great Jimmy Buffet type music playing in the background.

Probably the best crab cake I’ve had in a looooooong time! I got the shrimp and crab cake with 2 sides and it came With 2 hush puppies for $ 22! Not a bad deal. I have already recommended others to visit! The views were wonderful from the outside seating also!

New ownership 9÷16÷15. Went opening night. Everything seemed to run great. Was not very busy, I would probably give it 4.5 if I could do halfs. It maybe get’s a higher review because I like it so much better than Smithfield Station, which is what it reminds me of. Good: The view, boat to & free dockage, great cocktails, good food, fantastic service, really nice owner /operators Bad: Pricing is perhaps a bit high. No draft beers & not a large bottle selection. The details: New owners, it had been awhile since I’d been, but I really enjoyed. Fantastic views from the outdoor deck at this out of the way setting that is less than 5 miles over the JRB. You can take the boat /jet skis there too! Cocktails were excellent, although not a deal. I don’t mind paying for something I think is great. Had the Jamaican Me Crazy Jet Fuel for $ 8.95, it is strong & delicious. Doesn’t taste it, but you’ll feel it. My second drink was a Pain Killer, a Piña Colada type drink but way better… also $ 8.95, not normally a huge fan of that kind of drink but it was recommended by the owner and was amazing. I’d come back just for the cocktails. My wife was boring & got 2 New Belgium, Long Table beers for $ 4.50 a piece. No drafts, only bottles. Their beer selection was a tad light although they try to hit the normal varieties, mostly just 1 choice & pricing is at the max I’d want to pay for bottles. Normal domestics available. Crab dip appetizer was good, served with toasted pita bread which is the best way to serve in my mind. Priced at $ 12.95. I probably would go very good, but I can never entirely divorce the price from the product & it’s priced a bit above others that are equally good if not better. It is top tier though. Although a seafood place primarily, they had a 12 oz. ribeye special for $ 19.95& I wanted a steak. My steak was solid and cooked a perfect medium rare, lightly seasoned with 2 sides. I like my fried food and apparently don’t care if I live past 50& got their fries(shoestring, seasoned with old bay) & onion rings along w/2 hush puppies. Portions were decent if not overwhelming. Hush puppies were great, onion rings were mediocre & fries were fine enough. I’d go different sides for sure next time, would get the steak again. Very solid if not mind blowing. My wife had fish tacos that were good. My wife makes amazing fish tacos & we had them just recently so I feel like they maybe would have been better received farther away from that… I’ve heard people love them. At $ 12.95 they are reasonably priced of slightly high. Served with kettle chips. Dessert was peach cobbler with ice cream for $ 7. Solid portion that was shared & tastes homemade(don’t know if it is). Not a huge dessert fan but I thought it was tasty. Service was fantastic. Chatted with the new owners, super nice. I will definitely be back.

This location used to be a favorite. It has declined in the past few months. The new menu feels like a rip-off. Side items that used to be standard are now extra. For example, the crab cake boat was once served with fries and cold slaw, and now only comes with chips. They were out of most everything on the menu. This may be due to rumors of new owners taking over. Sad to see the decline. Taking my seafood business elsewhere.

The atmosphere is great, overlooking the water seated right next to the pier. The food is average, prices are average. Overall, it’s a great place for lunch.

We loved it here! From the minute we walked in we were greeted so kindly. We sat by the window and our server Micheal was so happy and personable. He informed us about the way the restaurant worked and about the neat specials. He told the kids a really cute story about the hush puppies we ordered. We ordered the hush puppies, the fish of the day, shrimp for the kids and I had the fish tacos. Everything was delicious! From the crispy, sweet, and oniony hush puppies to the fish tacos with a unique mango salsa with cranberries in it. We cleaned our plates. This place was clean, service was amazing and food was better then expected. We will be back again and again. So glad we found this gem! Oh! And don’t forget to head to the gift shop! The lady was super sweet and let us try samples too!

Been coming to Smithfield area for a while and have not been here before. My mistake. This will not be my last trip! I will be back. Food was great. Wish I could get a t-Shirt in the same check as the food bill.

Captain Chuck A Mucks is a great little gem hidden away in Rescue, VA. It has good food and their speciality is a great crab cake. Unfortunately, the owner had a recent health crisis and the place is for sale. I hope they find someone who will take good care of it.

A coworker told us about this place and since it was a nice day we thought we would drive out to try it out. The restaurant was nice and everyone was really friendly. We ordered the calamari to start off. It was really good. I ordered the shrimp and my husband wanted the flounder, but it wasn’t available. So he ended up ordering the car vena fish. I’m not exactly sure how to spell it, but my husband really liked it. I guess the only issue we had was that my husbands order was out? in the boat(lunch)size, but when we received our food the serving sizes were the same. The only difference really was mine came out in a basket and his was on a plate. We skipped on the dessert and the bill came out to $ 60+. Like I said before the food and service was good, but for us the one piece of fish and 2 sides you get for $ 25 is not really worth it.

Delicious food, had the peach cobbler and it was to die for! The cold seafood dip was good and the fish tacos had the absolute best salsa on it that we’ve ever tried. Great location and amazingly friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

This is my favorite seafood restaurant. They have wonderful ingredients and reasonable prices. The fish tacos are divine. Unfortunately they do change their menu seasonally taking off some of the best items to accommodate a busier schedule.

Stopped in of a cold beer while on a ride. Nothing fancy 2 Ultras. The price killed me, $ 5.00 a piece and $ 1.00 tax. $ 11.00 bucks for 2 beers HOLYFRIG! Hate to see the food prices! For a place so far out of the way you’d think they would be a little better to get customers. Oh well, live, learn and never go back!

First the food was very good. I had the stuffed flounder and my friend had the fried clams. Both dishes were excellent. My 2 issues were that when we arrived we asked to be seated at an inside table and told that it would be 20 – 30 minutes. We decided to get a drink at the bar and told the guy at the podium we did not want to eat at the bar. After 45 minutes I noticed that we had been bypassed in the wait. The manager promised to sit us at the next table, which he did. Then after being seated we ordered and it took forever to get our meal. We had to ask twice. By this time it was nearly, 9pm so it was not like the kitchen was slammed. Would I go back? Probably, but I want better service.

I almost missed out on this little gem because it was getting late and the sun was going down over James River and as I left the Hampton area via the bridge, I had to stop and snap a few pictures! So lovely. After driving through a dark, windy, country road for half an hour, I finally pulled up to this restaurant next to a marina. It was featured on Diner’s, Dives and Drive-Ins so I had to make the trip. I’m happy I did. I was lucky enough to meet the man behind it all, Chuck. And what does Chuck eat for dinner? A steak covered with onions and damn near the size of that dinner plate. Why not seafood, I inquired? We have good seafood, he told me. It’s very fresh. But if it’s not the best of the best, I don’t mess with it. I’d rather eat a really good steak. I felt right at home here, to be honest. Seated at the bar, talking to the waitresses and Chuck. Originally I sat outside but the bugs were eating my legs so terribly I asked to move inside. The waiter had no issue! At each table, alongside the menus, was a prayer menu. It explained that the family owned business is run by Baptist Christians and the menu provided several suggested prayers. I thought that was pretty bold and interesting! I couldn’t decide what I wanted and I hadn’t had fried fresh seafood before, so I got the seafood platter. It had shrimp, oysters, scallops, hush puppies, rice, beans and fish. It was good, but fried fish is fried fish. Lol. I really liked the fried oysters. I also ordered a root beer. Just so you know, soda’s come in a can. No refills here. I’d also heard or watched via Triple D that the Key Lime Pie with homemade toasted coconut is to die for. So at the urging of my hilariously flaming waiter(who had a brief spat with Chuck over his snapping at other employees), I obliged. It was pretty good. I’m not a big key lime pie fan though, so I wouldn’t get it again. All in all, great experience. Worth the trip!

After viewing this restaurant on a repeat of Diners, Drive In’s, and Dives, I had to visit. It’s very close to my home… I arrived– in a small fishing village across the river. I wouldn’t have known that a film crew ever visited, the restaurant certainly didn’t show or share any of the experience which i felt was a mistake… I should have known better to continue! The show boasts of the crab cake, and of course, I had to have it. I bought it as a «a la carte» because I really wanted their shrimp and scallops which i ordered. Though the shrimp and scallops were fresh and tasty, I only had 4 of each for over $ 20 served on top of a random thick piece of bread?!? The reason for my visit– the crab cake– was awful! it was like they had a ball of filler, sliced it in the middle– stuffed a few pieces of lump crab, smushed back together, and pan seared. The flavor was off… it was yellowish… and it tasted awful. Looked way different than the tv episode. I was shocked… you can’t do mediocre crab cakes in hampton roads… its just wrong. Take it off your menu please!!! The home made key lime pie was amazing and made up for that awful attempt of a crab cake i ate moments before… Service was great. Food was hot, prepared quick. place was clean and quaint. I did find my Triple D’ moment– Guy signed a cap barely hung in the gift shop just up the hill from the restaurant. The kind cashier showed it to me in protest when I shared my disappointment in not seeing anything Triple D related.
