Great place to eat when you want something clean and filling or even when you’re sick! The porridges are all very flavorful and the side dishes are on point. The interior is refreshing and the service is splendid. My fav has to be the Chicken Juk with the ginseng!

Overall: Great place for porridge as there are health options and ones for more bold flavors. Shareable portions. Small staff can be a bit slow, but attentive. Food: I couldn’t decide between the abalone juk or the kimchi and oyster juk. The waitress recommended the kimchi one since she said the abalone one was better for when one isn’t feeling well. The portion is huge. Definitely shareable. The juk was thicker than the typical Chinese or Vietnamese one. Kimchi flavor was strong, but there wasn’t a lot of oysters. The juk also came with three sides and a cinnamon drink at the end Service: Though there was only one waitress working, service was overall good. There were times things were slow, because she was serving other customers. She was quite helpful in selecting the porridge.

Never tried Juk before and wanted to venture to a location that would serve authentic food. I ordered the Vegetable Juk which was delicious and light. Boyfriend ordered the spicy pork hotpot which was very flavorful. Portion sizes were quite large and worth the price.

Very nice and clean place. I crave for their oyster juk whenever it rains. They put a lot of oysters in it and I love it! Their mushroom side dish is delicious. I even asked for more lol. The service is good and the staff is friendly. I’ll definitely take my other friends here when it rains again :3

If you haven’t heard about jook or Juk, you are missing out. This is the Korean version of Chinese congee or Indian kanjee. It’s basically a flavorful and hearty rice porridge with different meats and flavors added to it to suit your tastes. It’s delicious, and will be a favorite if you enjoy rice based dishes(who doesn’t…). I really liked this place, granted rice is pretty cheap and you pay at least $ 10 a bowl for rice and water. You get a huge flavorful portion of rice porridge with flavor enhancers(mushrooms, spicy pickled veggies, and bean sprouts). I got kimchi version with shrimp and loved it. My husband wasn’t sold on the idea and got tofu soup, which was great also. I ate to my hearts content and still have a hefty portion left over for another meal. I will definitely be back for more and try their other versions. It’s just perfect for a cold day and when you don’t want to cook! The service was great, and they offer simple appetizers and some alternatives for those who aren’t a huge Juk fan so you can all dine without too many complaints. They also serve hot roasted corn tea, which sounded so weird to me, but it was really different from anything I’ve ever had. Next time, I think I’ll order the fresh fruit smoothies with boba.

This restaurant is very clean and serves comforting congees(juk). The portion of each bowl is huge, definitely can be shared by two people. I strongly recommend the snow crab juk and the sesame juk. Keep in mind all the congee is cooked by order so it takes some time.

THISPLACEISSOSOGOOD! Highly recommend. Being Chinese, congee holds a special place in my heart. Well this restaurant makes the BEST congee of all time. I’ve tried the seaweed, abalone, mushroom, tendon congees/juks and everything is delicious! It comes with side dishes that really add flavor to your already flavorful juks. The only downfall I think is the price. I think this place is overpriced since it’s the ingredients shouldn’t be that expensive to make. I paid $ 28 for abalone juk and I felt like there wasn’t that much abalone. And $ 12 for mushroom juk? It’s extremely delicious but not worth the price to come all the time. Definitely come here though to try it, it’s one of my favorite new restaurants in the Hmart area, albeit it’s price factor.

I went here for a coworkers lunch and it was pretty good. The consistency isn’t quite like Chinese congee where it’s cooked until the rice doesn’t resemble rice anymore. The portions are large and I had enough for lunch the next day(it reheats pretty well). The combination seafood that I ordered really didn’t have much seafood in it. I counted three pieces of shrimp, two oysters, and three pieces of very small squid. I tried my coworker’s red bean soup and that was pretty good.

Ok, so I’m not Korean, so I naturally tend to think this is a little different from what I’m accustomed. It is quite a bit thicker than Chinese congee but it was still flavorful and delicious. I tried the tendon & ginseng juk and it came out steaming hot to where I almost burnt my tongue, so be careful when you first get it(it’s like rice magma, so wait a minute). The sides that went with it added so much more flavor to the juk, I almost asked for more of it. I did manage to find some ginseng in my bowl, but there was less ginseng flavor than I had imagined it would have. But I don’t expect it to be full of ginseng, which can be expensive, for an $ 11.99 bowl of juk. I think it was a decent meal especially when it’s freezing outside in the middle of January. I’ll be back on one of those cold nights, especially if I need to carb load.

I love congee! The waiter here recommended the chicken ginseng congee and the beef congee, but I opted for the spicy kimchi juk with shrimp. It was delicious! The portions are LARGE too! I wish we had a place like this in Houston. I recommend this kimchi juk to people who enjoy eating spicy foods. It’s the type of spicy that makes you have to keep eating otherwise your mouth is burning. The consistency of the juk is thicker in comparison to juk that is more watered down and«soupy.» I actually prefer the thicker consistency here than the soupy consistency at other places. If you’re super hungry you can probably finish a whole bowl. I was only able to finish half of my bowl and brought the rest home. The kimchi and shrimp is evident, but they’re not large by any means…(probably more medium to small sized). I wish I lived in Dallas so that I could come back during the cold months for more juk! They have so many different flavors! Highly recommend this place!

Good quality Korean rice porridge, made with good ingredients. We had the chicken ginseng juk and the kimchi juk with shrimp. Both were great, but the kimchi juk was especially good. There were three sides with each juk(bean sprouts, spicy green bean, and mushrooms), and all three were delicious. This was great«I have a headache» food in the summer, so while I hope I don’t get sick in the winter, I know where to eat if I do. The juk with their barley tea will make you better. I also love when people are good people. We asked what their best appetizer was. They have edamame and a couple of slightly-fancier, slightly-pricier choices. The guy chuckled and said we should just get the edamame. Fair enough. Thanks for your honesty. I’m glad we didn’t get something else if it would’ve been just ok. If you know juk, come here, and be happy. If you don’t, come here and be happy. Simple restaurant, nice people, great food.

On the outside it looks tiny, but it’s more than you think … Inside, the atmosphere is nice and welcoming, and overall comfortable. The menu offered a great selection of porridges including pumpkin and red bean! Which is pretty awesome :-) The price ranges vary, but most of the Juk costs 11.99. It’s worth it though due to the nice size bowl they give you. The Juk itself was fantastic, it isn’t overwhelming with flavor and they also provide garnishes that you can add(bean sprouts, mushrooms, and red spicy pepper sauce). I would recommend anyone to go here, and especially anyone who may be feeling sick or just wants something warm on a cold day!

Juk juk juk juk juk– it’s all I’m gonna play on repeat in my brainz this week. Been wanting to try this place but it’s far for me to come here, but finally made the trek today. It’s hidden. Right to the right of Hmart, blink and you miss awesome jukie goodness! It’s porridge. So you gotta be down with the texture. I LOVE it. It’s the Korean version of the Chinese congee. Loaded with your choice of beef, shrimp, and versions thereof, like shrimp with shiitake mushrooms for ex. You get a big bowl for like $ 8 or $ 10, I forget. It comes with 3 small dishes, like pickled spicy beans in a red sauce and some mushrooms too. Scarfed it down, can’t wait to go back.

Great food, fantastic service, and stylish interior. Surprisingly, this was our first visit here after all of the years we’ve been eating/shopping nearby. Why did we wait so long?! The food was perfectly hot for the cold evening we came on. We tried the kimchi & oyster juk and the shiitake & clam juk. Substituted the clams for shrimp and it was excellent. The sides were all savory and paired well with the main dish. The service was super efficient and incredibly polite. The host/waitress was all smiles and very attentive(but not in an annoying way). Perfect for cold days and when you’re sick!

Who doesn’t love a hot porridge on a cold winter day? This place is hard to find if you don’t know where to look since it’s hidden in a corner next to H-Mart, but it’s well worth the search. The little dining area is warm, welcoming and clean. The waitress/cashier was attentive, nice, and quick. The porridge itself is really well-seasoned with nice garnishes. I like to dump the spicy kimchi-type side dish they give you into the porridge to make it a bit spicy. The meat you choose is really just another garnish since they don’t give you that much, which is not a big deal since the porridge is the star of the show. They do have some other non-porridge dishes but I haven’t tried any of those and I think the reason to come here is probably for the porridge. Will definitely come back for another visit when I’m around the area!

Overall this place gets four stars, but it deserves a five in some ways because there is no other restaurant in the Plano area whose menu is solely based on rice porridge. It’s a unique concept, and the owners do it well. Giant bowls of hot rice porridge. Can you see and feel the love steaming on your face on a cold and wintery day? The bowls are literally bigger than your head!(Dainty ceramic sets, may I add.) The flavors are very light and very healthy, but there aren’t many meat options so carnivores should be aware! Savory dishes include shiitake mushroom, abalone, kimchi, vegetable, oyster. Sweet ones include pumpkin, red bean, black sesame. I haven’t had any of the sweet bowls, but the savory ones come with side dishes of picked vegetables and kimchi to add bursts of flavor to the soup. They also have soondubu and bibimbap but seriously do yourself a favor and get the juk(jook). The storefront is very small but has a bright, clean and polished feel to it. It’s a family owned store and they’re all very friendly. Water/tea is poured into cute ceramic teacups and after your meal is finished you also get a cup of sweetened chilled ginger tea to cool down after all that hot porridge! Be careful, or you might end up being charmed by Charm Juk!
