Being a horse mom for 50 years I’m pretty picky where I shop for feed. Cal Ranch has it all. the part I like best. its inside on shelfs where you can browse, read labels. shop prices.(which by the way beats the competition by a mile!) they know their product (you would think anyone working in that type of store would. but have you been to the other feed stores? Not so much) They have a little bit of everything. including a great selection of men’s, women’s & children’s western clothing (who ever their buyer is has great taste!!!) Given up on customer service? I had. but Cal Ranch stands behind their products 100%.with a SMILE! I live a bit of a drive away. Gus took care of a problem I had OVER THE PHONE instead of the usual. come back in and we will help you! If you haven’t been to Cal Ranch yet (give yourself plenty of time to shop. it’s a big store with lots of great finds) do yourself a favor. GO!

I really liked the store, the variety of products and the prices. I decided to buy a Stihl MS250 chainsaw. When I took it to the check-​out and paid for it some guy came out took the saw «out back» to fuel and fire up. 20 minutes later the guy comes back without the saw and says that he can’t get it to start. I’m a certified arborist and use many different chainsaws and did not get the feeling this guy was factory trained. They offered me another model but since it wasn’t a pro series I declined. Asked to cancel the transaction and was told no problem. My account is still $ 380 low and the bank claims no refund has been requested. CAL Ranch Store told me it is out of their hands and to contact corporate.

After I emailed the company I got a call and will say he was so nice and I’m very happy this store does care how their customers are treated and wants everyone to be happy. Very happy I emailed and was listened too.

This is a great store. Located in former Safeway grocery store building in Carson City. You could find everything and anything in there. They have great selection of firearms, western jewelry, boots, Carhartt for men and women. Nice bling belts, feed for animals, post cards, pickling jars, fishing poles, you name it, and they surely have it all:) Prices are pretty good, not a rip off as some other stores. The store is nicely organized and clean. The employees are really friendly and ready to answer questions and give you valuable advice. I like to stop by once in a while, and just browse through their wide selection of goods. I always find something I buy. Pretty amazing store overall:)

I have been in this store several times in the last several months and two times in the last week and I am extremely disappointed. They have many empty spaces where horse tack should be. I inquired about it last Saturday and two different employees said they are re-​arranging the horse tack and will put it back up starting Monday and will be finished Tuesday. I went back late Tuesday and nothing had been done. Still empty walls.
I talked to another employee and he said there was a change of plans and they will do it on Thursday. He asked me if I wanted him to confirm the date with another employee and I said no thank you. I went over to The Tractor Supply and bought my supplies I needed. Plus Tractor Supply’s prices are much lower than CALs by far.
I do not plan on going back to CAL in the future.

I’m not a rancher, cowgirl or farmer type by any means. I don’t have horses or livestock nor should I even be allowed to but I absolutely love this store. It’s so much fun to browse and shop here. I love everything about it. They have some cool clothes, great belts and really cute unique purses. I bought a super cute blingy belt for my jeans here for $ 60 (a splurge for me) and saw the exact same one after at a Brighton store at the mall for more than twice that amount.
They have great unique yard décor, seeds, gardening supplies, hunting gear, awesome tire swings made to look like ponies for the kids, bunnies, kayaks, camping stuff, boots, sandals, pet supplies, and of course farm equipment and ranch stuff and everything in between. Plan to spend some time here.
There’s just so much cool stuff to look at around every corner. It’s an adventure every time we stop in to visit.

Once upon a time I was addicted to the mall… now I just head over to CAL Ranch because they seem to have everything I never knew I needed. We recently bought some baby chicks here. The staff are super friendly and helped us understand everything a beginner chicken owner would need to know. In addition to cute chicks, they also have garden supplies, pet supplies, tools, and a bunch of things the hubs is interested in…

When I first walked into C-​A-​L, I thought I was out of place, and that I should probably have spurs on my boots. But the everyone was super nice.
I spoke to Bill, who instructs the CCW course. What an awesome man! If I had kids, was Catholic, and was into that sort of thing, I’d want him to be my child’s godfather.
This place has the best prices for guns. Well unless you want a .22 caliber AR, then go to Big 5. But seriously, no one wants that.

Love this place! They have everything! We don’t live near here but have been several times when passing through.
I would say though that the customer service could use some work… which is why the 4 stars. It was hard to find help and the cashier didn’t engage in conversation with us this last time. Will still go back though.

This place reminds me of the stores one finds in small towns of Canada.
One can buy a fancy necklace for the woman in your life to a fancy diddlybob for your horse.
I on the other hand bought fertilizer stakes for my trees, something you can by separate piece here as apposed to being forced to buy in bulk at other similar stores.
I enjoy just walking through this store just to look over things one does not see at most stores.
Nice and clean while well lit with prices easily found and for the most part well priced.
The one person I had contact with was friendly.

Place was very clean and very organized. The only Draw back was at checkout was there isn’t enough checkers we waited 18 minutes to be checked out then it felt very slow as the man rung of our merchandise.
But I would definitely go back they have a lot of items you can’t buy anywhere else.

This place rocks! The staff is always very helpful, and I’ve yet to encounter an employee in a bad mood. They have an awesome inventory and their prices are very competitive. Until I have a bad, or even mediocre experience, it’s five stars from me!

Cal ranch is indeed a store loaded with many cool and useful items…
One area I like is the Montana Silversmiths Jewelry case… They had
some tremendous mark downs in that case before (!) Christmas.
The General got a $ 45.00 silver horseshoe medallion with non
tarnish silver and a chain for 80% off…

I had never even seen a CAL Ranch store so I was intrigued. It was like a tractor supply company mated with an turner outdoorsman. I wish we had one of these in southern California But instead we have bourgeois REI and lame ass big 5… love this place, love carhartt

This store cracks me up! Cowboy boots, horse injection needles, and hard candies — what more can you ask for? It’s Pioneer Woman meets Home Depot meets Martha Stewart meets John Deere. Prices overall were really decent for the most part.
I laughed when I overheard two store clerks, both crotchety grandfatherly types, discussing one daughter’s pregnancy: «She got all nausepated — I mean vomity — I mean, you know, throwuppity — the first few months.»
I didn’t think the sales staff were the brightest tools in the shed (that was aisle 4) but they were all nice enough.

I like what I see so far. Stopped in this bright Sunday morning because the dogs had– as usual– plowed through a fifty pound bag of dog food (which, somehow, always results in 100 lbs of hair and dog poop) in what seemed like a week. My usual supplier was closed, the dogs were whimpering, so off I went, CLEAR to the OTHER side of Carson.
Didn’t feel like cruising through all the aisles, but it looks like a cross between a Lowe’s and a sporting goods store. Horse food, guns, lawn mowers, tools, ranch clothes, and, of course, 50 pound bags of dog food. Same type of dog food costs me about $ 50 at my usual spot, and less than $ 40 here, so I guess I will be making the major commute across town more often.
Even though it was first thing Sunday morning, the people I ran into were helpful («Dog food? Turn left at the horse food, go past the chicken food, turn right at the quail food, and it’s right next to the alligator food.») and pleasant. When I plopped the 50 pound sack of munchies on the counter, the gal rang me up and asked, «Do you want a bag for that?»
So clever this Sunday morning! I like that.

This is one great store! I’d never even heard of them before they decided to open up in Carson City. They moved into the old Safeway building. What a GREAT use for it!
We attended the Grand Opening — and as expected, it was a zoo. But, I still managed to buy a pair of work boots (that I didn’t know I needed until I saw them. You know how that goes).
They’ve got lots of western wear and horse lover’s stuff. Camping and fishing stuff. Hunting stuff (including a fairly good selection of all firearms). Hardware. Ranching and farm goodies (including live chicks of various types — none of which is familiar to me).
Let me just say, they have a bit of ‘everything’. It’s one of those fun stores that you can just wander up and down the aisles — for hours — and keep finding nifty stuff. I WILL be spending time (and money) at THIS store…
