I finally got a chance to try this place. It was bookmarked since last year when I saw those delicious pictures from Tessa, the Unilocaler. I got a table right away and my drink came out fast. The restaurant was super clean and the staff was very friendly. It was already after 1pm so this was probably going to be brunch and dinner in one since I don’t like to eat too late. I ordered the Pork Hungarian Goulash because that sounds like something I’ve never tried. It is a stew with pasta. The garlic toast that came with the goulash was either not toasted enough or was slight stale. That’s ok, I had enough carbs in one sitting. It comes with a soup, so I chose French onion soup and it was delicious. Oh and since I checked-in, I get beignets too! Those were soft and fluffy. I think I ate too much because I ate nearly everything. So everything was pretty good and I would recommended checking them out. I want to check out their breakfast next time. They only offer breakfast on the weekends and no longer serve dinner. They are also planning to change their menu later this week, which will expand to a larger menu.

We are here from Georgia on business and came here with a local friend. This place definitely lives up to its reputation! We came for breakfast and i had the spinach and mushroom crêpe. It was excellent and it was so pretty!

Well the meal started off poorly. We came here due to the reviews on a Sunday morning. The place had only 2 tables of guests. We decided to order beignets for starters. Waitress said«let me check if we have those». We were then informed that there are no beignets on Sunday’s. We were told it’s because the owner is the only one who knows how to make them and she doesn’t work on Sunday’s. Strike one. They did give me a coupon for them but we were already using the Unilocal checkin offer. That is a pet peeve of mine… Businesses offering things that they can’t deliver. We ordered drinks. Orange juice and decaf coffee. Coffee had obviously been sitting for hours and was bitter. We then ordered two orders of eggs benedict. A few minutes later she came out and told us they were out of ham. We got up and left. After reading the owners response I want him to know that his chef said he didn’t know how to make the beignets. It wasn’t just the waitress. My feeling is that Sunday breakfast is not a priority for the owners. Like I said before there were 4 customers in the entire restaurant.

We both had the Swedish pancakes. They were great! Eggs benedict is good, too. Next time I’m trying the Denver Scramble.

My wife and I both ordered the Swedish pancakes(crepes with cranberry butter and maple syrup) along with two scrambled eggs and bacon; wife had over easy and bacon. Cranberry and maple sounded odd, but bam! Awesome. Great food, great service.

We went for Mother’s Day which and received complimentary mimosas, great start! They were only serving breakfast for the day, but everything looked good and I’m not that big of a breakfast person. I ordered the lemon beignets and the rest of my family ordered a variety of French toast, quiche, fruit and bacon, etc. All was great — but it took FOREVER. And by forever, I mean an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering before a waitress came out to let us know our food was almost done, and then 30 min later we finally got our food. Perhaps this was because it was a holiday and they weren’t prepared for the rush, but it’s not an ideal situation with a 2 year old in tow! Like I said, the food was great and an awesome value(6 people and a child for ~$ 70), but be prepared to wait.

First of all, and most importantly, the service was great. It was a Friday night and the one server working was really friendly and quick even as it started to get busy. I kept thinking there should have been at least a busser to help her fill waters and clear plates, but she still did great on her own. My fiancé got the sauerbraten and was not happy with it. The portion was small and he said it was dry and not very flavorful. I was happier with my dish– beef bourguinon. The gravy was delicious and the beef was perfect, and there was plenty of it. But, for some reason they served it with a mound of diced, grilled potatoes… Like, breakfast potatoes??? Not a great accompaniment to stew. If it had been served with mashed potatoes I wouldn’t have had any complaints with my meal. The potatoes were the same as what was served with his meal and both of us thought they were undercooked. I would have maybe given another star if it weren’t for the prices. Both our dinners were $ 18, which we would have been fair had our meals been spot-on. But, between undercooked potatoes and tiny pieces of overcooked meat, it seemed steep. You can tell this place is trying to come off as higher-end, but they need to work on their quality if they want that perception to stick.

What a great hidden spot! The eggs benedict, the gravy waffle and the crepes were all delicious! I’m visiting from Southern California and I would recommend this place to all Carson City locals. Keep this small business alive!

Love the food. Great service. The décor/ambience seems. off to me, though. It doesn’t do the hard work put in here justice. It sort of feels like a. community center?.. or hotel conference room? I’m not sure. It simply doesn’t compliment the thought put into all other aspects of this place. Well, what are you waiting for? Go eat!

Found this place quite by accident. It is tucked away in the corner. The atmosphere inside is nice, but the French Stuffed toasts are excellent. We had the Citrus and the Chocolate Hazelnut. Both were so yummy. Along with a side of ham, this was the perfect breakfast. Definitely be coming back soon

We came here for the first time. My sister told me about it. She told us that the quiche is good. My wife ordered the quiche, I ordered the French toast. Both were good. Place always clean and nice. Service was good. We were the first ones in for breakfast. So we had the whole places to ourselves. I want to go back for lunch. Looks like they some good sandwiches on the menu I want to try.

December 30, 2015 There’s eight cars parked outside this place and I’ve not heard a word about it. It’s next to the blood donation outpost, about a half mile from HWY395 in a location that’s off the beaten trail. Why are eight cars parked outside? What is this place? Why have I not heard of it? Could it be that I don’t live in Carson? Yes, that could be a factor, but the bottom line is, I’m glad I found it, as it now is on ‘the list’. You know, the list of places that you consider every time you consider going out to eat. What makes it so special? First, the food was fresh and they are not afraid to use butter. Heck, the comment on it on the menu, «If it tastes like butter… it is butter.» Who can argue the point? The menu had so many interesting items that it took my wife and I about ten minutes to figure out what we wanted to eat. We’d just donated at the blood outpost, and so we were no afraid to indulge a bit. We started with the French Onion Soup, which was hot and hit the spot on an icy cold day. My wife selected a salad, and I opted, after much consideration, for a cheeseburger. My wife’s salad was large and tasty, and my cheeseburger was just the right size, as it came with a side salad that they served with the soup course so that there was plenty to eat in the first course. This may not be a big deal to you, but they served the food well. It was presented very nicely, and it arrived on solid plates, with real glasses(no plastic), and a real cloth napkin. This is truly appreciated, as more and more places seem to be opting for the quick and easy as opposed to the more costly and options for service. Beyond that the place was neat and clean. After our main lunch meal, we were full and did not try any desserts. When the check arrived the server graciously gave us discount coupons for our next lunch and dinner(10% off), and my Unilocal check in provided me with a complimentary beignet that I’m saving for my next visit, so be sure and check in. I’m looking forward to returning and trying some other items on the menu. The ‘Carson List’ is one restaurant longer now.

BIGNEWS! The Bleu Café is now serving DINNERS! Wed. thru Sat. dinner is served between 5pm and 9pm. The French inspired menu has food from Germany, Italy and Hungary as well. Check out the new dinner menu here: My BF and I decided to check out the dinners the other night. The lighting now inside is from regular ceiling lights rather than the florescent tubes, from before when they first opened. The ambiance is much more conducive to dinner now. There are even small candles lit at each table along with blue cloth napkins. We are seated at a nice table. There isn’t a huge crowd in here, but I sure hope this place catches on. Another new thing here is the FULL bar. The license is approved and the bar is open! We didn’t partake in the bar this time, but I see on the drink menu on offer are Cosmos, Manhattans and other mixed drinks. We stayed with the house Cabernet($ 6.00). Pursuing the menu, I see appetizers from fondue, to shrimp cocktails, to Pâté’, very French indeed! We skipped appetizers as the main entrees include choice of soups or choice of salads and then you get to pick two sides to go with you entrée ranging from normal potatoes, to mac and cheese, sauteed broccoli and even German red cabbage. The entrees ranged from French Beef Bourguignon, to German Sauerbraten, to seafood selections including a Salmon en Crout, salmon baked in puff pastry, oh that sounds divine! Check out the menu online! I selected for my entrée of the evening, the Pork Roulade with Apricot Demi-glacé.($ 17) It’s German inspired from the Beef Rouladen, a rolled and stuff beef log if you will. Then sliced onto the plate. It’s one of my fave German dishes, but this one is done using pork. Mac and Cheese along with asparagus dolloped with Hollandais Sauce are my sides. My BF selects the hearty Beef Bourguignon($ 18) with veggie sides of the glazed carrots and sauteed broccoli. Our server is very on point and explains the dishes exceptional well. As we wait for our food, our conversation turns to the dining room. We both comment on how it might be much better and conducive to an intimate dining experience if the room space were to be broken up more, to give a sense of intimate space, rather than being able to see across the full expanse of the dining room. I know budgets have to be met and there’s only so much money to go around when starting a business, but maybe just some plants(fake would be fine) just to break up the view from one side of the room to the other. Even those tri fold decorative standing screens are not too expensive and would work. Just a suggestion mind you. We did like the music selection! Our server arrives with our food! Oh my, those veggies are cooked so bright and fresh looking! My Pork Roulade lies under a layer of delectable looking sauce made of apricot, flanked by a nice portion of Macaroni and Cheese Gratiné. The spears of asparagus dolloped with Hollandais fill a small boat dish. The Beef Bourguignon looks quite hearty, served in a large bowl, glimmering with the tender beef, pearl onions, mushrooms and veggies. This is slow cooked to perfection! The veggies of broccoli and carrots beam with color as the side dish. Well, what good is good looking food if it doesn’t taste good? This is definitely not a concern here at the Bleu Café! My first morsel of the roulade on my tongue is quite a blissful experience, with the sweetness of apricot melding with the slow cooked pork, this is a very European dish and worthy of the effort it takes to prepare. My BF by the looks of it, is enjoying the Beef Bourguignon immensely. I of course, reach over, but he stops me and offers a fork of the dark sauced meat across the table. As I part my lips, he slides the saucy meat on to my tongue and I close my lips as the fork withdraws … OMFG! is this heaven or what? The flavors so complex yet subtle combine with the soft texture of the meat as I close my eyes to get the total tasty experience … oh yes! I’m getting this next time! My roulade was great, but holy beefy goodness, this is something else! The culinary pleasures don’t end there. Those incredibly bright colored veggies beckon me! Now, I’m not usually a big fan of veggies as many of you might know, but another OMG! This is the best damn broccoli I have ever had in my life… no kidding, really, and the carrots are glazed so perfect and cooked just right, not too raw and not too cooked like a school cafeteria… you remember that right? This is the total opposite! I’ll have to say, I was immensely impressed by the level of the food here for dinner at the Bleu Café. But not to stop there, we ordered the Chocolate Mousse for dessert to share. Served in a martini shaped glass and topped with a small dollop of real whipped cream, it was an impressive dessert. Creamy dark chocolate glides across my tongue… YES! Do try dinner here, you’ll be impressed with what they can do here.

First visit here… The beignets are AWESOME! I had the creole shrimp, very tasty. My girlfriend had the seafood crepes, and was very happy with her meal. The French Onion Soup is great. Service was on point, Nick was serving us for his first time, he was attentive and responsive to all our requests. We will be coming back again, glad to see a top notch bistro here in Carson City! Will be recommending the Bleu Café to my friends!

Kind of the typical strip mall restaurant feel — it’s completely open and dotted with varying sizes of tables. Having dark tables/chairs and floors helps the ambiance a little bit and I think they’ve done what they can as far a decorating and probably don’t have a lot of leeway in what they can and can’t do with the space. Their signage isn’t clearly visible from Winnie, so I don’t think they get a lot of people just stopping in, so hopefully for them they’ve done enough to get the word out. We were seated as soon as we walked in. There were a decent amount of people in there, but enough open tables for us and the other people that wandered in as we were there. As we were sitting down, our waitress asked us for our drink order. Nice to not have to wait, but also kind of rushed. There were a couple of things that sounded good on the menu, but I also noticed me thinking«those salads don’t sound substantial enough; I’ll be hungry again in a couple of hours» or «all of the pasta sounds too heavy for a summer lunch». So, that left me with the sandwiches. I finally decided on the chicken pesto(chicken, roasted red peppers, provolone, greens, and pesto). I got the soup(which is French onion) as my side, but I almost when with the feta pasta salad. The main reason I order soup with my sandwiches is because I love to dip. Also, it’s my side, as in it should come along with the main. But here came my soup well before my sandwich or my friend’s meal comes out. I hate when that happens. So, I’ll just eat this while you awkwardly watch me… I can understand bringing the soup out beforehand if we had both gotten a cup or if you had asked if I wanted it first, but neither of those conditions were true. Anyway… the soup was delicious, but I did wish the bread they used was a little more substantial, it got mushy way too soon and sort of mixed in with the rest of the soup. The sandwich was just ok. Really not a lot of flavor or excitement, but nothing bad either. I tried a bite of my friend’s pasta salad — it was tomato based which were weren’t expecting. It was ok, maybe needed a touch more salt and/or something to brighten it up. Prices seem fair($ 12 for my meal plus an iced tea). I’m interested to see if they switch their menu during the Fall or Winter, that might influence my decision to make a return trip.

Went for a midweek breakfast with family to enjoy some of the fresh French fare at this hidden café in Carson City. The option of breakfast potatoes or fruit accompanies most dishes which are all freshly prepared. We were one of two tables when we arrived yet food took a long time to arrive at the table(about 30 min after ordering). However, service was really friendly considering that our group was a bit high maintenance. Eggs Benedict was really good, so we’re the two different crêpe dishes we ordered. Espresso machine on site for those that enjoy their coffee, but they are still perfecting their barista skills. Ambiance is simple and casual with French posters on the wall. Overall, lots of potential with fresh fare. Very good for Carson City but probably on par with larger metro areas.

This morning we had breakfast at a new place called the Bleu Café. The first thing you see when you come in is a counter seating and then a big room with many tables. First of all we got a free beignet for checking in through Unilocal. The beignet was fresh and warm, the textures were light & fluffy. It was sprinkled with confectioner sugar. So delicious. I ordered Swiss Croissant. It was so… yummy. I love croissant. This croissant was perfect, buttery, flaky & puffy. The ham was so delicious, with a smoky flavor mix with the scrambled eggs and Swiss cheese. I chose with seasonal fruit instead home style potatoes. My husband ordered Quiche Florentine. He said it was a perfect pie crust, gruyère, Swiss cheese, and spinach & spiced. All mix together, perfectly baked. Served with seasonal fruit. The price was $ 10 for a slice of quiche, pretty pricey for only a slice on breakfast. Also he ordered a coffee and it was better than most of other breakfast coffee. Our server name was Hanna, she did a good & friendly service. Always checked on us. Kept our water glasses and my husband coffee cup full. We will definetely be back to try their lunch menu.
