Portions were small, and yet 2 eggs and 2 sausages and a small amount of hash browns for 19.00 is high. Asked for duck eggs got regular chicken eggs. We KNOW the difference. We raise Pekin Ducks. Soda biscuit was dry. He high expectations, left still hungry and disappointed.

A gem! Comfortable décor with an outdoor, shaded patio! Extensive breakfast menu with numerous healthy choices. Eggs to die for! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, especially wait person Tiffany. Local ingredients, gluten free options, tasty and beautifully presented. Chef here since the late 70s. Don’t miss this restaurant!!!

Started with a cocktail that either just wasn’t good or the juice was spoiled. Pina — very sour and unpleasant. Appetizer was Gravlax which I love but 1st either 18.00 for maybe 2 ounces is too high or the portion to small. 2nd. It was more like lox. The texture and taste. Didn’t taste like it was cured with any dill or sugar which aside from salt are what make gravlax. Ordered an entrée or panko fish and chips. IMO portion was too small but the worst part. No flavor, no salt, no seasoning. Boring. Wait staff I must say very good, but won’t be back.

The dungeness crab crêpe my daughter had was amazing, that item is 5 stars. However, my filet mignon Egg Benedict lacked any seasoning, and the biscuit lacked flavor and too large so it overtook the steak and egg. The filet mignon was cooked a perfect medium rare, but, I would not order it again. The hash browns were cooked perfect. The black bean hash also lacked flavor. The server was attentive and apologetic for service time. While taking our order she was called to the kitchen, then didn’t return until over 5 minutes later to complete our order. The coffee is brewed weak. It took about an hour after our arrival until we received our plates.

Adele’s is a great place to eat I wished they were still in Reno I hate the drive to Carson City but I’ll make it once every couple months their food is always good and it’s a very nice place. When you dine at Café at Adele’s tomorrow May The 26th tell your server you are there to support the Nevada humane society and a portion of your bill will be donated to this organization.

Loved this little restaurant. Their drinks are on point and the food was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and it felt nice to be catered to. I had never tried escargot before and I’m surprised to say that it tasted great! I ordered a salmon and crab dish that just melted in my mouth. Soooo good. This place is a little pricey but for a nice date night it’s totally worth it!

This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in the USA. Family owned and operated since it opened in 1977, Adele’s is housed in one of the few extant Second Empire-style buildings in Carson City. The historic landmark was built in 1875 by M.A. Murphy, a Nevada attorney general and Supreme Court justice. He was a revered citizen of Carson City and he died in the house. Once I stepped inside, I entered a genteel old world. The house’s many rooms still retain their Victorian aura and provide plenty of cozy, semi-private spaces for a romantic meal with your date or an anniversary dinner with your spouse. Adel’s is a recipient of the Achievement of Distinction in Dining Award from DiRoNA(Distinguished Restaurants of North America), which makes Adele’s one of fewer than 600 restaurants in all of the United States, Canada, and Mexico to be so honored. One of the reasons for the nod is Adele’s reliance on organic, sustainable, and locally grown or raised ingredients, a passion of the current owner — a fourth-generation chef, so you know that you’ll be in experienced hands no matter what you choose from the international menu.

We love Adele’s. We stay in Carson City when we’re in the area and this place is amazing. The veggie hash browns are to die for and today I had the filet eggs Benedict which were amazing. The kids love the pancakes. The servers are always pleasant and sweet, even the ones who aren’t serving us. There’s one gentleman who always stops by and talks with us, even though he’s busy with other customers. Highly recommend.

Just moved to Carson City, found Adele’s via Unilocal.Too many good sounding things on the menu, so I just went with the signature chili relleno. Amazing! I’ve never had chili relleno even close to this good. My wife had a daily special, trout, which she said was excellent. We’ll definitely be back to try everything else. The staff was first rate, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

OMG, this place is amazing! My husband and I were on vacation when we stopped at Carson City for the evening. We had been on the road for a couple days, returning from Oregon, and were ready for a special dinner. We stayed at The Carson Nugget City Hotel and the clerk suggested Adele’s for dinner. It became ‘the best meal of our vacation.’ We started with the BAKEDBRIE for an appetizer… excellent and almost a meal in itself. My husband had the NEWYORKSTEAK(see photo) which left him happy and full. I had the SEAFOODJAMBALAYA(see photo) which was incredible. Between the bread, meal, wine and cozy setting we were more than ready for bed after the short walk back to the hotel. Everything was wonderful. The food, the service, the setting… perfection! Regardless of if you’re a local or just a weary traveler do yourself a solid and stop by Adele’s.

I found Adele’s through Unilocal and am I glad I did. I was really wanting a good meal and I haven’t had a meal or experience this good in so long… The food was amazing! I had the caprese salad, the seared ahi spoons and the blackberry lamb. From start to finish the meal was amazing. Mark behind the bar was a gentleman and very good bartender. Everyone was polite, service was amazing. Our server was very attentive. This is fine dining without the fine dining price. My only regret is that I didn’t save room for dessert. That was a mistake. If I were to offer any suggestion it would be to have the specials written down to view. There were so many of them that I had to ask our server to go over them a couple of times which she was all to happy to do.

Best service & food. Everything homemade with love. We didn’t have reservations & we got the last table in the parlor. Check out the pics-so quaint. I had the sommelier’s own blended mulled wine-fantastic! THEN, I received a long stemmed rose as we left. What a gem in Carson City. We’ll sooooo be back!

I have been coming to Adele’s for a number of years and for some reason have managed to not add a review, so here we go. First off, understand this, Adele’s is not your average run of the mill fine dining establishment. Rather, it is a destination, a second home, a refuge in a storm of everyday stresses, a literal oasis in the desert, and most importantly a pillar and foundation of an amazing community. I would be remiss in talking about Adele’s without first mentioning the amazing proprietors whose love of food and their community extend far beyond their own front door. Charlie and Karen Abowd are some of the most genuine and caring people that you will ever meet. They care about their community, their patrons, their suppliers and staff and it shows in everything they do. From the quality of the food(which is locally sourced whenever possible), to the care in offering choices for people with food sensitivities, care is taken in every step of the process. From breakfast to dinner or simply drinks and a chat, Adele’s is warm and inviting while both intimate and bustling at the same time. Much like it’s owners, the décor is a wonderful eclectic mixture of Nevada chic and artistic expression. Chef Charlie is a mad scientist of flavor and is constantly coming up with amazing new dishes that are often inspired by what he can find at the local farmers market or the latest offering from the Future Farmers of America participants. His staff are some of the best trained I have come across in the industry and the fact that most have been there for many years says that he is doing something right. There is a magic here that you won’t often find. If you haven’t been here, you have to try. If you have, you already know.

My husband and I were celebrating and friends birthday and made a reservation for 3 at Adele’s. I will say first that for a small town we are very fortunate to have a restaurant with a chef that is so very skilled. When we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. I will preface this by saying that my husband does not like to eat steak out because he feels he can make it better than most places but Adele’s is one of the few exceptions where he will order steak. Why? Because they actually know how to properly make a steak. You get it exactly the way you ask for it. I happen to like mine rare and it comes perfectly every time. For the appetizer we got not one but two Gorgonzola Escargots. This dish is one of my favorites. The mixture of cheese, sauce and onions is truly amazing. If you haven’t tried it you should. The best part is dipping the homemade bread in the sauce when your done. For dinner, I usually get the Filet Mignon«Adele» because it is hard to top, but they had a special; Filet Mignon with bacon wrapped lobster and burnt butter. If I was a food critic I could explain properly the medley of amazing I was tasting but since I am not I will just say this was sinfully delightful. The steak was tender and when I cut into I could immediately tell it was perfect. The bacon wrapped lobster, I have never had anything like this. My taste buds had died and gone to heaven. I don’t know how often they have this but if you get the chance it is a must have. I can’t find the words to do this dish justice. My husband’s steak was much to his liking and he raved about it which again is unusual for him. Our friend had the Swordfish and he said it was the best he has ever had. I tried it and I am not a fish lover but it was very good and again the medley of tastes paired together were simply artistic. Last but not least our waitress was wonderful. Very attentive with a great attitude and personality which made the whole experience that much better. If you are from out of town this is the place to go for an exceptional dinner with elegance. The chef also prides himself in using locally grown ingredients and it shows in his dishes. If you are local you probably already know this is the best place in town, and in my opinion one of the best in Northern Nevada.

I’ve worked in Carson for 7 years and have never made it into Adele’s for lunch. I never made the jaunt over the hill from Reno for dinner either. The only time I had ever been there was for a cocktail that was only just his past summer. Well a girls’ lunch get together changed that, finally! After looking over the menu several times online and at the restaurant, I was having the hardest time trying to decide what to order, at least 1⁄3 of the menu sounded like something that I wanted to eat right then. But then our server starts telling us about the daily specials and I wanted everything single one of them. Ah, decisions! We decided to share the gravlax appetizer; the salmon comes with toast points, cream cheese, red onion, capers, dill sprigs, and tomato). Wow, wow, wow. That gravlax was melt-in-your-mouth tender and so full of flavor. For my entrée, I decided on the meatloaf sandwich, which was one of the specials for the day(well, the meatloaf was the special, but they would also make it into a sandwich if you wanted). The meatloaf was incredibly moist and delicious. A little messy, of course, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it and don’t you dare go dipping that in ketchup! The side salad with Roquefort dressing was delicious as well; I mean how could it not be? The sandwich was big, but not so big that you regret eating the whole thing, which is good because you’ll definitely want to finish it! I had a taste of each of my friend’s entrees too. The shrimp bisque was so creamy, and along with a side salad, makes for a nice lunch. The brie and lingonberry jam grilled cheese is almost like dessert because of the sweetness. It’s also really, really rich — I don’t see how I could eat a whole sandwich of it despite how good it was. And finally, drinks! In the summer, their sangria is amazing and full of all sorts of fresh fruit. I highly recommend ordering this. But since it’s currently winter, I went with the Spiced Kentucky Apple, which is bourbon, spiced syrup, apple bitters, and hard apple cider. Loved, loved, loved the flavors of this and it had a nice kick that warmed you right up. If you’re going to Adele’s for lunch, just know that it will be a long lunch! We spent about two hours there(whoops!), but it is well worth the wait(and any time you have to take because you took a long lunch break). The food, cocktails, and hospitality will always make it worth it!

I’ve been here several times in the past 5 years when I go to visit the ex with my li’l one, though I don’t recall the dinner’s I’ve had I do know that for the first time trying their breakfast out was SPOTON delicious!!! So before heading to the airport my daughter and I along with her dad had breakfast here and we ordered 5 entrée’s for just us three. lol Hey what can I say it was all sounded so good we just had to try as much as we could. We all got the daily specials they had. A+ Hibiscus Tea was delicious! And even their apple juice tasted freshly squeezed, not sure if it was, but I drank all of my daughter’s once I tasted it. It was like Apple Heaven if there is such a thing. :) Prosciutto w/melon — A+ my daughter was in love with this and ate almost everything. A+ Porchetta w/Jalapeño biscuit and regular hash — OMG! This is the Best literally hands down porchetta I’ve ever had!!! Even better than when I make it, and I’m a pro with this dish. I got my eggs scrambled wet and it was Perfect. I’m not usually a potato hash girl, but this was tasty all alone with not having to add any flavor. I just put hot sauce and I was in Heaven. A+ Salmon Benedict — Really delicious buttery tasting Benedict. Their hollandaise sauce is Out of this world delicious and not overly lemony like some can be. A+ Pork Belly Benedict w/bean hash– This was delicious though I was kind of hoping the pork belly was the 2 inch thick bacon, though their PB was delicious never the less. A+ Fish of the day w/2eggs — It was salmon and my ex and I shared everything so we could really see what dish we loved the most. The salmon again was sooo buttery, juicy and flavorful all by itself. A+ Service from our waiter Ralph! He was personable, friendly, fast and very welcoming. I love the décor and older homes that look victorian like turned into eateries. This place has such a charming touch to it as soon as you walk through the door. I loved the fire place being lit on a cold wintery morning and could feel the nice toastyness. It is such a warm place to feel cozy and have good quality time with company and family. I’m going back to reno in a week for Christmas with my ex and my extended Hanai family and will be taking the girls out for a nice brunch or dinner here for a girls day with my ex’s wife, her daughter and mine. I can not wait to go back to Adele’s as this place is Legend. The prices are very affordable and the plates are HUGE!!! 5 huge dishes just shy of a $ 100 bucks is def worth it.

This is a star of Carson City and necessary place to visit for me when I’m in town. With much of the meat and seasonal produce being organic and locally sourced and the option to sit in the cozy lounge area by the fireplace, it is worth spending the extra few dollars per plate. Waiters are well-versed at the ever-changing specials menu and will recite all of what is being offered that day that is not found on the usual menu. I found that Adele’s is pretty friendly to vegetarians as they offer a delicious veggie hash, hummus, falafel, veggie pizzas, veggie sammiches, veggie tacos, pilaf, salads etc. and omelets, which can be made with delicious, locally sourced duck eggs. If you drop in when they offer their special beignets with caramel sauce, I implore that you try them as they are incredibly tasty!

Charlie Abowd is a legend in these parts, and if you haven’t taken the time to go enjoy some of his thoughtful food, you’re seriously missing out. This is ONE of the BEST restaurants in Northern Nevada and a place I look forward to returning to time and time again. But for me, it’s more than the food that brings me back. It’s the people and the place that make each visit so special. Chef Charlie is, no doubt, a very talented man, however he is a humble person who is gracious for the opportunity to be doing what he loves, surrounded by so many that he loves. His many awards and accolades are mainly hidden from view, but trust me that this is a serious chef. Perhaps a little known fact worth sharing is that Chef Charlie has cooked alongside his team at the James Beard House in NYC for some of the most esteemed food folks in the nation. If that doesn’t seal the deal though, just take a look over the MASSIVE menu at Adele’s. Some of Charlie’s creations may shock you at first, but trust me, that will fade to surprise once you taste the first bite! Breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week, Adele’s serves up tasty pizzas, charcuterie, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, Lebanese, and more, sourcing as much from the local food shed as possible! Chef Charlie has been sourcing local before it was cool, and it’s a flag he carries proudly to this day. If you’re curious about where the food is coming from, check out the blackboard in the foyer, or ask your server. Chances are they know! Oh yeah, they can handle allergies adeptly too! Speaking of the servers, many of these folks have been with Adele’s for decades! They’re also incredibly impressive, with knowledge of all the food, the history of the restaurant, and service that is second to none. They’ve trained hard for this role, and it shows. Just ask any of them to tell you about the daily specials, which number sometimes into the teens here. But no worries, they’ve got them all memorized! Don’t even get me started on the bar. Too many exceptional cocktails to list or talk about here. My favorite spot to sit has got to be the parlor. The furniture is vintage old, but oh so comfy and very cool by today’s standards. You can’t help but feel like you’re lounging in some old western drinking parlor, where deals were made amongst the wealthy men and women of the time. It’s one of those spaces where you ask yourself, «If the walls could talk, what would they say?» Speaking of history, Adele’s is steeped in it! There’s so much of it present in the building the walls can barely contain it! News clippings, magazine articles, family photos, and more tell the story of the Abowd family, this restaurant, and it’s place in the history of the region. Take yourself on a tour, or ask for one. I’m sure the staff would be happy to share it. To wrap it up, I’ll share the dishes and drinks that have been standouts in my mind: — House Cured Salmon Spoons — Falafel Spoons — BBQ Shrimp — House cured ham with seasonal melon — Country fried pork steak and eggs(duck eggs) — House made Coppa and Sausages — Sands of Tatooine(cocktail) — Last Word(cocktail) — Summer Sangria This is a restaurant well worth your time to visit. I love the place, the people, and the food equally as much and I look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!

April 26, 2015 It’s a glorious Sunday morning, the wind and rain have left and, as you might suspect, I’m hungry, but I’m in the mood for a certain level of graciousness. What comes to mind? Adele’s, we’ve been there before, and we’ve got to do our weekly shopping and it’s in the area. We call ahead, as the legislature is in town and we don’t know if it will be difficult to get a seat or not. It turns out that it’s not difficult, ‘…come on down.‘ We arrive, we eat, and we’ve got findings to share with you: 1) Coffee was good. It, and our water, was constantly refreshed. 2) We shared three courses, and the food tasted fantastic. 3) The first course was toast served with a drizzle of olive oil, sliced cheese, melon, strawberries, and prosciutto thin ham. It was very nice. 4) The second course was a dish of eggs over medium, house made chorizo, and a vegetable hash. Again, spiced appropriately and tasted very good. I like my sausage more spicy, but this was good. 5) The third course was the bananas foster waffles. These are small waffles served with whipped cream. 6) We did not waddle out stuffed the brim with food. These portions were very appropriate. If you’re after the ‘all you can eat stuffed till you can’t move’ experience, go elsewhere, this is not that. It has been a while, but Adele’s continues to be a great place for a gracious breakfast. We continue to have great experiences, and it’s great to have the dear amble by while you’re eating. They did today, and kids and adults alike were interested and gawking, but maybe that was just me.
