If we could leave negative stars I would! No tip left for the server(which is a hard thing for me to do since I have been a server before). We waited for over 5 minutes for someone to take our order, then when our food came they tried to deliver it to the wrong table. Food was not great, and we couldn’t even say anything because NOONE came back to our table to check on us for over 15 minutes! We never saw the server who took our order again! There was no reason for us to wait as long as we did. It wasn’t very busy and there was plenty of staff working!!! We will never be coming back here again!!!

First time here. Good, no complaints. Very tasty bacon, real eggs, awesome hash browns. They do only give you one slice of toast, that’s to prevent waste. You can ask for another ;)

Had a veggie omlet that was just blah. The eggs were semi runny still which I was not happy about. The English muffin they brought out was burnt to a crisp. The hashbrowns were just blah too. Food was very mediocre and service was just ok. Don’t live in the area was visiting someone up there. Wouldn’t recommend this place honestly would have rather had I hop or Dennys lol.

Coffee is not great, and they don’t have cream for the coffee! But the waffle is pretty damned good. Eggs were good. Real Hash Browns.

I am not a fan of the single slice of toast for breakfast. I know that short-changing customers a slice of toast must add up to incredible savings in the long run. I know that some– perhaps most– diners may not even finish their toast. I don’t care. By God, I want two pieces of toast. Toasters have two slots for a reason. And that reason is to make TWO slices of toast. If I’m paying thirty-plus dollars for breakfast, I damn well better get two slices of toast. I’m not complaining about not getting an orange slice or the so-so coffee– this is serious. Two slices of toast. Capisci? Don’t make me ask for it.

My boyfriend and I ate here today. Food was overpriced and just BAD. His burger tasted frozen. My fries were inedible. The food had no flavor. I could have made my sandwich at home for a fraction of the cost. The ranch was disgusting. And all the server did was take our order and bring us our food. She didn’t offer us anything or ask us how the food tasted. When she put our check on the counter, she didn’t even say«have a nice day». We both left with our plates still half full and very disapppointed. Oh, and we’re both sitting on the couch right now with gnarly stomach aches! I can’t say I’ll be giving them a second chance. *fart noise*

What can I say… every visit, every meal is wonderful! This is my go to breakfast spot. I generally order The Usual, which features two eggs, biscuits and gravy, and hash browns. It never disappoints. Pancakes are fluffy with a nice texture that pleases both the palette and the stomach. Not too heavy. Just right. The French toast is amazing. The right combination of egg mixture and golden brown finish. Not to mention, the list of omelettes and the daily specials. You can’t go wrong with breakfast at Red Hut.

Service is very poor here, lazy waitresses, on multiple occasions. The food leaves much to be desired.

The service was ok. I think I saw the bus person more than I seen our waitress. Food came out super fast. I had the best pumpkin pancakes I had ever had before .The coffee wasn’t great and the chorizo patties were to salty. I’m a huge fan of chorizo. I make chorizo and eggs all the time. I think they should take that off there menu.

Been in here a few times now, both times on a Saturday and they have been pretty efficient at getting us seated and served even though they are always busy. The food is always consistent and quantities are hearty. Came here with my son and his girlfriend and fellow Unilocaler Kristin(really the main reason we come here — she is obsessed with the waffles and jalapeño bacon) In fact the only times I have been to this location is with her and because of her. LOL Anyhow I usually get some sort of omelet where you pick your three items and a cheese and it comes with hash browns always fabulous if you eat the whole thing you are stuffed. Careful on your timing of eating here it might put you right back to sleep cause food coma’s come on quick! Well I had the omelet with bell peppers, jalapeño bacon, spinach and pepper jack cheese. It came out quick and hot it was very good I didn’t not know the bacon would be whole inside was thinking more crumbled up, but after a little knife action that was taken care of. Hubby got an omelet and my son got the french toast. Kristin got the jalapeño bacon and walnut waffle and a side of more jalapeño bacon. I am sorry I didn’t try her waffle so I could see why she goes so crazy for them, but Im convinced if I did I would have slipped in to a food coma for sure. There was a bit of a hassle to pay though there was quite a large line and it because the cashier has to add up the tickets they aren’t totaled. Hubby even witnessed a guest leave and not even pay after he waited in line for a bit, so they should look into that. Highly recommended if you are in Carson City or in the South Lake Tahoe area they have a few locations there as well. I have only been in the little«original» location but I think they all have the same menu. Although I haven’t seen the jalapeño bacon at the original location but I don’t really get bacon that often so maybe I just missed it.

I had no idea there was a Red Hut in carson city. Located at the south end of carson street right before you turn onto hwy 50 to go to the lake. I also did not realize that there are five red huts, three in south lake tahoe, one in carson and one in reno. The Red Hut is a breakfast and lunch restaurant, closing after lunch. In the summertime the seperate ice cream fountain stays open later. I ordered some pancakes, eggs and sausages. Everything was cooked just right. The service was superb. The waitresses were rocking with a full house. If we are in the area we definitely will be back.

Me with a friend for lunch. Place wasn’t too busy. Staff is sways friendly, they seat you right away. I had the turkey burger with avocado. My friend had a salad. We both enjoyed our meals. Service is primped and good. Food is always hot and comes out fast. So if you don’t have a long lunch this is a good place to come to. I was there at 1:00 so they were winding down. I like to have breakfast for lunch sometimes. I usually have a ham, cheddar, and Avocado omelette. But not today.

August 28, 2015… 9am… worst breakfast EVER. Omelet under cooked — runny eggs inside, hash browns not browned just beige not a crispy one in site. A small glass of O.J. $ 3.29 not fresh squeezed. Two people a total of $ 28.00 for breakfast, not including tip. Here’s a tip go to Fandango for breakfast or anywhere just not here.

OK, I’ve been going to Red Hut since 1984. Started at the original under the previous owners when you had RC cola and one salad dressing(Russian, IIRC). My work moved to Nevada and they opened the NV location a few years later. The Kingsbury location was great around 2000. But over the last decade the breakfasts have declined — even bad ham, once. So, we knocked it off our breakfast list but still had a couple of lunches a year, there. So, now we’ve been to the Carson City store twice. My go to at every diner or bar with food is a burger, substitute salad, no tomato on either. A few months ago, friendly service, everything acknowledged or repeated — and chopped tomatoes on the salad. Past Saturday, the server was in a different zone. My wife ordered the diet plate with fruit(cottage cheese, burger patty) and she asked if her dish came with egg or not. Mastering the menu used to be server task #1. I ordered one of the burgers, substitute salad, no tomatoes. Knowing the past trip, my wife echoed, no tomatoes. The server wrote v e r y slowly and repeated back the order. When she said, «salad, blue cheese», I again said no tomatoes. Of course, chopped tomatoes. Finally, she spaced our to go cup for about five minutes after I had paid the check. Lunch food is a solid three with an upside for not charging extra to substitute a salad. Service, not so solid.

Red Hut Café boasts five locations and I am pretty sure they all rate about the same 3 stars, let me tell you why. The cool factor is they serve ice cream like a ice cream shop complete with banana splits and everything. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu is pretty limited, omelets, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, salads and burgers, did I mention the ice cream LOL. The food is well, sort of bad. Our food came out in what seemed like 5 minutes, not nearly long enough to prepare the pancakes, waffle and burger we had ordered. Food cooked that fast was most likely not made from scratch and it didn’t taste or look like it was made from scratch either. My onion rings tasted like Ore Ida Frozen, my patty melt was soaking wet greasy and my wife’s waffle wasn’t cooked all the way. The last thing to come out was our milkshakes which tasted good because they were made fresh. Overall, great service, bad diner food and good ice cream, you make the call.

Picture December 7th, 2013 if you will. It’s a morning after a snow storm and your parents have a driveway full of snow. So, you decide to call your brother and sister to go with you to Carson City to shovel their driveway. On the way the decision is made to have breakfast, fortification if you will, prior to your arrival, and the Red Hut is a great choice, conveniently located, and not portion size shy. Our group is five people and this particular Red Hut is the biggest one that I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to at least three of the five stores. There are plenty of tables big enough to seat our group. Knowing a group of five the way you do, you are not surprised by the level of high maintenance that they can put a waitress through. I wanted no hash browns and opted for a sliced tomato side, not a problem. Another member of our group didn’t look at the menu, but simply ordered what she wanted, two eggs over easy, three slices of bacon and a pumpkin pancake(which, for those interested, was the size of the plate), and again, not a problem. These are just two examples of the flips and twists that did not phase our server. Coffee never stopped flowing, and this is a good thing. If I were a bit picky, this is the area that I would encourage some improvement. It’s not the service, but the flavor. It’s just not my favorite coffee. Are there specialties here. Yes, the one that i’ve never seen any where else is called«Jalapeño Bacon», and it sure is tasty. So, when your hungry for big portions, in South Carson, and you may have folks with you that like their food customized a bit, this is a very worthwhile choice. If you happen to be with folks that are a bit high maintenance, you might want to look elsewhere. Have Fun.
