The service and atmosphere were great, and looks like a really fun bar to hang out in, but the burrito that I ate was pretty weak. A pretty good place to come to for a drink, a not so excellent place for Mexican — not if you’re from Cali anyway.

Tacos, hot dogs, sandwiches and a full bar! What more can you ask for? Orders of chips comes with a variety of salsa from mild to hot, all pretty tasty. Full variations of tacos with choice of flour or corn tortilla, plain or mission style that come with beans, and cheese with creama. Sevice is casual and the little kitchen puts out quality product and well worth the wait.

Went for lunch yesterday… needed to eat light so had the Tijuana dog, $ 6, still a lot of food for the money. Need to return for a torta in the near future. Overall, a good lunch option in downtown Carson city.

I’ve been here a few times now. The remodel of Mo & Sluggos is nice. They opened it up and made if feel more like the other restaurants downtown. The food is basically a hybrid of bar-food and Sassafras down the street. I’ve had the Haburguesa and the Tijuana Dog. Both were pretty good for the price. Wait times here so far have been a bit excessive for the type of food being prepared. I would have given this place 4 stars but both times I’ve been here, I ran late on my lunch hour. In fact, it took them FIFTY-FIVE minutes to deliver 4 Chorizo Corndogs and a Tijuana Dog to our table the last time I went. Anything over a 20 minute ticket time is too long, so I’d say that day was a giant Fail. I was really late back to work. I would have probably got up and paid for my Iced Tea and left if I wasn’t with friends. Give them a try, hope the ticket times improve.

New to downtown is Tony’s Taco Truck. While not actually a real truck, this little kitchen in the newly remodeled Mo and Sluggos Bar on Telegraph Street has the delicious food you’d expect to order from a mobile street vendor. All the entrees are authentically inspired, but are prepared in a more gourmet, creative fashion. Menu items range $ 3 – 14 a plate(average $ 8 – 9), and you’ll find delicious selections like the Torta Mc Hamburguesa(a spicy ½ lb Mexican Hamburger, the Tlayuda(crispy baked flour tortilla spread with refried black beans, cheese, and marinated red onion), and of course tacos, tostadas, and burritos. For the more adventurous there is the bacon wrapped Tijuana dog, or the Mata Hambre(«The Hunger Killer!» — carnitas, Tijuana dog, an over-easy fried egg, cheese, black beans, escabeche, and salsas, served on a toasted bolillo roll). Also look for off-the-menu specials such as the occasional giant corn dog. I’ve been making my way through the menu, and it’s all been delicious! Most entrees have a choice of meats such as Mayan chicken, shrimp, carne asada, grilled mahi, ceviche, carnitas, or chorizo. Your choice of freshly prepared salsas to accompany your meal are also available, including a mild pico de gallo, a medium roasted tomatillo, or a fiery habanero that will leave you glowing. There is also a good selection of beers and other drinks available at the bar to wash it all down. If you still have room for dessert, try the generous portion of deep fried ice cream. It’s the best I’ve ever had! Just off main street, the newly remodeled Mo and Sluggos has a clean and friendly atmosphere, and makes the perfect stop for lunch or after work dinner and cocktail. Bonus: it’s also family friendly in case you need to bring your kids to help you with the deep fried ice cream!
