We stopped in for the first time after a day trip to Blue Ridge. We searched for a nice relaxing place to have dinner on the way home, and we found it in the City Cellar and Loft! We were greeted warmly and met our server, Ashley, who was knowledgable about the wine list and menu choices. I ordered their signature Shrimp and Grits, and my husband the Bourbon Pork Chops. We both enjoyed a glass of wine and a house salad. Our meals arrived shortly and both dishes were piping hot and just delicious! Portions are generous and well seasoned. Prices are reasonably mid range, especially for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely be back!

Wow! Tavern food at its best. Funky underground atmosphere and cool Cheers style bar. Try the calamari, Cellar salad and fish sandwich.

Great atmosphere. Had the shrimp and grits — pretty good with a different take on grits. The fried green tomatoes were excellent. My husband are all of his chicken fried chicken. Worth trying when in town.

Love this place! Great service and awesome tasting food. The craft drinks were good and if you hear the train ask for the Train Shot, its a fun mystery drink!

This place was incredible. Some of the best service I have ever encountered. Everyone from owner to bar tender to cook to even the dish washer were thoroughly interested in making our experience the best possible. Had the shrimp n grits for under $ 20(which would have been a $ 50+ dollar meal where I’m from) and it was incredible. This place is a must go! And the kicker was our Ticket Name: «3 Dudes»

Outstanding food and service. Bob is a great host. The philly cheese steak sandwich is the best.

Ok… looooove this place… love the look and feel… nice and super clean… I smelled the cleaner first thing when I walked in… Ashley was our server and the young chef Dale came out and greeted us… I had the cowboy burger without the bun and hubby had the ribeye… both were cooked perfectly and was delicious. Prices are spot on too!!! We will be back!

Went for lunch the other day based on the Unilocal reviews. Parking was a bit of a pain, but we waited for someone walking out and snagged their spot. Walked in and understood where the name came from as we immediately had to walk down some stairs to enter the restaurant. Very open space, nice bar, were asked to seat ourselves. The wife got the soup du jour(seafood chowder) and Cellar salad and thoroughly enjoyed both. I got the steak sandwich and found it to be very tasty and the meat to be exceptionally tender(compared to most steak sandwiches I’ve had). The sandwich was supposed to come with a basil mayo… I despise mayo so asked if they happened to have any horseradish or a horseradish sauce. I was surprised and impressed that they had a horseradish cream and it was fantastic on the sandwich. The house chips were also very good. We’ll definitely return and would like to check it out during a weekend evening as this place has all the makings of a great watering hole.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Only down fall is there is stairs to get down to the resturant with no other entrance or accommodation.

This place is great! What an atmosphere and a very interested owner/manager who is very pleasant. We both had the steak sandwich(med rare) and it came out perfect! Very fairly priced. Our only downside were the onion ring side orders that had a good flavor but heavy on the batter and a bit greasy. We will go back!!!

Starter with calamari — Asian flare and a little kick. Cellar salad with grilled salmon was fresh and delicious. We also had a order of fried green tomato BLT– a great southern classic beautifully executed. Our server was timely and sweet — defintely will go back !

Ambiance great, fit there just before evening rush of people. Server nonchalant but got the job done. I had shrimp and grits. Good but creole sauce heavy and salty. I found my way to the grits and just had alittle bit of sauce to compliment the grits and shrimp. Salads were great as the did use iceberg lettuce. Fresh and cold.

Absoloutly loved this place so much that we will plan to come stay at Red Top Mountain State Park and dine here each time we pull our trailer and boat to Florida each winter to and fro! The owner stopped by the table to ask our opinion on the place and food! That speaks volumes! And btw: ITWASDELICIOUS!

We had lunch here today. This is a really cool underground restaurant/bar with a fireplace and a ginormous bar. We ordered creamy tomato basil soup and we shared an order of fish and chips. The soup was a little cold, but it was so delicious. It was loaded with chunky tomatoes and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. The fish was perfectly fried in a tempura batter and the french fries were great. The bathrooms were very clean and nice. Service was exceptional and the guy who brought our food was very entertaining. Our server was so sweet and helpful.

Loved this place. Met a friend for lunch here. We had sandwiches. portobello and the philly. both were yummy. The waitress was super friendly, even when we kept her booth tied up for about 2 hours chit chatting over drinks. The Bloody Mary was great!!! The interior is a little dark, but has a great neighborhood bar vibe.

The City Cellar was a place I never drifted to growing up here. Probably because of the location & name. Someone said it was the best restaurant in town, so we decided to try it out about 6 months ago. Now we are regulars. I normally get whatever is on special. But you can not go wrong with their Fish & Chips. It’s plenty of food, a lot of fish, and cheap.

Ate here at lunch back in March when I brought a group of seniors to visit the Booth Museum in Cartersville. Loved their Friday lunch special shrimp & grits. Back today with my seniors on a trip to the Tellus Science Museum and our folks loved City Cellar so much we came back for lunch. Great vibe, great service and the food is great. Had the fried green tomatoes for an app and fish & chips this time. Friendly owner behind the bar made sure we had everything we need. If you are looking for a good lunch or just a place in the evening to gab a drink, the City Cellar won’t disappoint.
