I have been eating here since I attended ncsu in 1996. I really like the bbq, but wish you had the option to get the chunky bbq that they used to serve. When you got a plate you could still see the smoke ring in the chunks.

In a strip mall, but neat interior. Lots of kitch. Clean and friendly folks. Got a plate with pulled pork, slaw and collards. Came with Texas Toast(meh), no hush puppies(sad face). Pork was a little smoky, pulled butt. Moist and delicious. A western, eastern, and South Carolina sauce provided. The SC was the most flavorful of the three, if you like a mustard sauce. Collard were good, chopped, a little smoky. Could use more pork in them, but they pass. Slaw was pretty good, maybe a touch too sweet. Overall, I like this place a lot. I prefer whole hog chopped and more smoke, but the pork was A– or B+. Very pleased.

It may seem a little pretentious that they are only open from 11 – 2, but ask yourself, «could they stay open if they were gross and only open 3 hours a day»? The ‘Florida style bbq’ may throw you off in the heart of NC, but they have some of the best chopped pork and assortment of vinegar/chili-based sauce I’ve had in the state. Go there. Enjoy it. Hail NCBBQ.

They do have good tasting meats and BBQ sauces. Very fast service as well. stinks that the prices went up.

This place is right down the road from my office, which is great for me. Sometimes you just need some BBQ to power through a long day. Danny’s is a solid no-frills BBQ joint. Not an old-fashioned BBQ shack, but not a fancy place either. I’m giving them three stars because their meat is great, but their sides are mediocre. I like the potato salad — it tastes like there is sour cream in it rather than mayonnaise. The Brunswick Stew is meh, in my opinion. I wasn’t particularly fond of the field peas, though that is something I enjoy. It needed ham hock! But back to the meat. I really like the brisket, the smoked turkey and the smoked chicken. Their meat is tender, with a nice smoky flavor. Sometime I need to try the sausage and actually, the pulled pork. The servers are very nice, and service is quick, even when the place is busy. Thumbs up over here — this is a great place to have a workday lunch!

The pork spare ribs were good. The turkey and brisket were missing a lot of flavor. By far, the fried okra was the best thing we tried. If you are going to try Danny’s out, definitely get the okra.

Had lunch with a colleague from work. Simple but effective menu. I had ribs and a bit of brisket. The brisket was well cooked but lacked the meat flavor of brisket being covered by the rather bland rub that I think it was smoked with. The ribs were tasty and cooked well by restaurant standards but a bit overlooked if you like that KCBS standard of meat needing just a tiny bit of tug. Four types of bbq sauce on the table. The vinegar and mustard sauces were good but not spectacular, the tomato based sauce was very sweet and actually delicious. The sides were good as well, potato salad was better than average. Service was prompt and courtesy, the seating was neither particularly comfortable nor uncomfortable. It’s a pain to find and from the outside it looks like a junky old broken down office. Overall worth going to if you close but not a destination for fantastic bbq.

The family loved our meal at Danny’s! Various family members had ribs, brisket and pulled(chopped) pork. The food was delicious and the wait staff was friendly. But for me the cherry on top was the cook showing my son where they smoke the meat and explaining how the process works. Super nice people making great food and serving it with a smile. All in all, a great dinner at an affordable price. We’ll be back for more!

Great BBQ. First thing you notice upon entering Danny’s is that old familiar aroma of smoking meat. And the food lived up to the aroma. Had the smoked pork with Brunswick stew and fries. Not the best Brunswick stew, but it wasn’t bad either. I found it light on meat and heavy on the lima beans. Overall great BBQ. Will definitely come back.

Good not great. Pork and beef are always good, if you want a treat catch them on a day they are serving the chicken Q. Sides are average at best and you can’t get a sandwich as they do not sell buns.

The service here is horrible. I really wanted to like this place as a first-timer. Barbecue is one of my favorite dishes! From the moment we sat down, we felt completely unwelcome. The hostess was nice, but our waitress was the rudest I’ve ever experienced. She truly hates her job and life in general. We ordered water to start with and she rolled her eyes. Not sure how we offended her so deeply within our first minute of arrival. It just went downhill from there as she made a point to ignore us. When she dropped our food off, she couldn’t get away fast enough, so we were unable to ask for anything we needed. Once she was near our table again(right next to it, actually), we asked for a refill on water. She walked away, so we assumed she didn’t hear us. Fifteen minutes later, she reappeared and asked«did you ask for something earlier?» What??? If you heard us 15 minutes ago, why would it take so long to come back and ask if we were were trying to get something!!! So, we finally asked for water again and she came back with it. Again, she absolutely did not want to be near our table… she reached over my boyfriends shoulder as far as she could with the glass of water. She wasn’t even looking and put his glass in his bowl of beans. He caught it from spilling everywhere. I just don’t understand why she couldn’t spare the extra two seconds to walk around to our table and give us the water appropriately. The restaurant was completely dead, so she wasn’t busy. She treated our table as if we had the plague. Any time we needed something(which wasn’t a lot), we had to get up and ask the hostess. I noticed that the other table our waitress was serving had to do the same. Not once did our waitress smile or make us feel welcome. I thought the food was decent… not the best, but good. Not good enough for me to want to come back and experience that. Especially upon leaving, I witnessed how the kitchen prepares the ribs(which is what I typically order at barbecue joints). To me, it’s completely unacceptable to throw ribs in plastic wrap and nuke them. That was the topping on the cake! Never again… Danny’s is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant and I am not a hard person to please. I am typically overly forgiving and tip at least 20% or more, no matter what. I just couldn’t do it this time… the worst all-around!

Excellent service and portion sizes. I love that everything is pre prepped so we only beeded to wait like 5 minutes for our food on a friday night. We each irdered 2 meat dinners the turkey, brisket, ribs and pork. The turkey was moist and tender and the pork was super flavorful. Spareribs were also cooked perfectly. Would definitely return for these, but our brisket was too dry and not anything special. As far as sauces, we liked the mustard based and spicy one more than the popular sweet one.

When any one talks about great barbecue in the Triangle it’s always the Pit blah blah blah. For my money Danny’s is as good as any. It is low on ambience — very modest in a down home kinda way, and it is tucked away in a nondescript strip mall next to Wake Med Cary but the food is outstanding and the people are wonderful. Fantastic, fast no-nonsense service. Pork, brisket, chicken, turkey, are all great with all the sauces you’d expect and great sides — collards, field peas, beans and great Texas toast. I’ve taken visitors from all over the world to Danny’s and it never fails to impress even the most discerning palates. You will not be disappointed.

What a great place for some yummy BBQ! I hat chicken and baby back ribs and it was great. My husband had spare ribs and brisket and enjoyed the meal as well. They also have a kid’s menu. Awesome waitress!

We’ve been coming here for about 20 years now. Danny’s offers one-of-a-kind Florida-style BBQ, with awesome sauce. The pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast is my go-to, and always a hit! It’s a great sit-down restaurant with relatively quick service.

We’ve definitely had much better food than this… too bad! The brisket was tender(a plus!) but it was seriously lacking in flavor. It seemed there wasn’t even salt. Meh. Pork ribs were just okay, not falling off the bone either. Double meh. My toddler seemed to enjoy the bean stew and the green beans(although, obviously from a can). The potato salad initially seemed to have some good flavor, but very quickly we were all overwhelmed with the amount of mayonnaise, just way too creamy. Seeing all the other rave reviews I wonder if we just ordered everything completely wrong on the menu, but I doubt the other items could be a ton better. There are so many bbq places in the area that I think we’ll try other spots before coming back here.

Danny’s BBQ is out of this world! The beef brisket is always succulent and the Potatoe Salad is consumed and then order a take out container for late night snack! Very friendly staff, line can be long at lunch but zero wait time on food helps this venue plow thru the line.

Forget the east vs. west debates — this is simply great barbecue. Try the baked beans and finely chopped slaw as sides.

WOWIE. The pulled pork was off the wall. Absolutely amazing. So tender, succulent, juicy, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth-able. The pulled pork is served on Texas toast and it is simply a home run. North Carolina BBQ is vinegar-based, but where Unilocaler Ben Y. and I are from(up north), BBQ is barbeque-sauce based. Danny’s agrees with us, so their BBQ was more in the style of what we are used to, and it was INCREDIBLE. Being in NC, Ben and I wanted to try all the BBQ pork we could, and Danny’s definitely had the best. The sandwich came with fries and I also ordered a side of coleslaw which was really good. But WOW I can’t stop dreaming about the pork. The barbeque sauce was so good that Ben and I both bought a bottle of it to bring home with us. Amaaaazing.
