The atmosphere is inviting and casual, small with crafty beer vibe, aroma of smoky good food. Excellent friendly service. Ordered beef brisket burnt bits –esp love the fatty pieces! Mac n cheese a little bland. The slice of artisan white bread was perfect as well as all three condiment sauces.

My family loves BBQ, and we consume several pounds each week, trying just about all the local offerings. The food here is insanely good, and we’ve tried it all over several visits. Literally, the entire menu at least twice over. It’s a 40-minute drive for us, usually fighting traffic coming from North Raleigh, and its well worth it. The smoked wings are crisp and packed with flavor — hands down the best I’ve tasted. Brisket, pulled pork, and the chopped chicken also really stand out above competitors. Really, you can’t go wrong here. High-quality, generous portions, smoked to perfection. The staff is always friendly and gracious, there is a good craft beer selection for take home, and plenty of local taps and growler fills to enjoy with your BBQ.

Really cool bbq spot; very unassuming but they have good food, quick service, and there’s a ton of great beers. I’d recommend trying the piggy mac — it was so good!

I could eat my weight in the wings. So perfect. The seasoning without all the hub-hu of which ‘flavor’ to choose. Just beautiful.

Very cool place nestled into a strip mall that serves up some very good bbq qith some unique creation that sets them apart like the eggrolls which are a must order. The smoked wings are good and I also really like their brisket which I almost always get on a taco. The tacos are gigantic and 2 will definitely fill you up but sometimes I even go with one. They have a bottle shop and fantastic craft beer selection and the service is always great. Since I love close I find myself here about once a week. Plenty of parking so nothing to worry about there and ive never seen them so busy that we had to wait for a table.

Small shop, I heard it was a food truck but it got so popular they opened a brick & mortar shop. Simple menu — decently priced. I like that they also sell beer, including single bottle in the fridge. I opt for that instead of their tap beer which was priced quite high. Definitely check out the fridge. Overall food quality was good — solid wings and brisket. Mac & cheese & collard was good too. I also tried the grilled pimento cheese, a little light on the pimento cheese IMO. Definitely a good local spot to try out if you enjoy BBQ.

I liked the place, the pulled pork was nice. Service was good. Beer to go selection was great. Tap selection was ok, they had a really gross beer on tap from some brewery in Detroit, Atwater maybe? It’s in a strip mall, so ambiance was… a lil weird. Biggest disappointment was the mac-n-cheese. Gross. Up your game Mike. This place has amazing mac-n-cheese, and why am I telling you about it? So you can buy their cookbook and get your mac-n-cheese shit together!

This quaint North Carolina BBQ joint proved to be significantly superior to the subpar BBQ of my home state of Ohio. People in the south know BBQ, and their recipes date back to the Civil War. Legend has it that southerners used smoke rather than fire to cook their meat, as the bright fires might alert Union soldiers. To Stonewall Jacksons surprise this strategy succeeded beyond all expectations. The sweet smoky smell of BBQ drew in hungry Union troops allowing the Rebels to ambush and slaughter them. And thus the Battle of Smoky Creek became known as the first American BBQ. With that in mind, I ordered pork and chicken with a side of beans and mac. The chicken was some of the best I’ve had, however the pork lacked much of a smoky flavor. Though the beans were good, the waitress compared them to «crack» thus raising my expectations beyond reality. My wife ordered a pimiento mac n cheese and pulled pork sandwich which was phenomenal. I recommend you order this. The beer selection at this place is also great.

The piggy Mac was divine! It’s the Mac and cheese with pulled pork topping and potato chips(I found that weird but hey, I’m up for anything!). The chips were soggy by the time I got back to my hotel and I didn’t think it added anything to the mac and cheese. I would probably ask to skip that if i ever make my way back to North Carolina. I had the creamed corn, which had the right amount of sweetness, and Cackalacky coleslaw with the beef brisket. The Cackalacky coleslaw is alright so I would probably pick a different side next time. The brisket was very tender and moist, although there were a couple pieces that were dry(they still tasted great though!). The North Carolina vinegar was really delicious. It reminded me of the vinegar dip that Filipinos serve alongside their roasted pork(lechon). I really wish I had plain white rice to go with the brisket and vinegar sauce because that would have made my meal perfect. I saw a customer who was eating the pulled pork and he looked pretty happy with it. I wish I had more room in my belly because I would have ordered that too. I liked that they had a bunch of hot sauce for sale and also a wide variety of beer(in bottles and cans) to take to go. I felt daring that day and bought their ghost pepper hot sauce and a couple of their specialty barbecue sauces which did not disappoint! The ghost pepper sauce was pretty spicy but it was also sweet. It’s great on tacos. I really wish they had a store in Boston because there were so many items on the menu that I really wanted to try. I guess the closest ones I can compare them to is Sweet Cheeks or Blue Ribbon in Boston, BUT they both do not have an expansive beer selection to take home.

Double date day with Claire G and the Boyfriend’s, State basketball game followed by Brew N Que. Beer — I was not a huge fan of the drafts that they currently had on tap but the trusty refrigerator had several delicious options. Food — Our party ordered a bit of everything to try: Pork with 2 sides, baked beans and collards, I have not found baked beans around the area that I can say I really enjoyed but these were goooood. Chicken with 2 sides, smoked potato salad and mac n cheese, I personally prefer the pork over the chicken but they were both good options. I also liked the sides especially the mac n cheese. Smoked Chicken Wings with avocado ranch for dipping, I loved how the wings were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I do wish that they had regular ranch as an option though. The Big Cheesy, this sandwich is huge but yums! You better bring your appetite if you order this monster. I was sad that they were out of cornbread, I love cornbread. Before departing I created a 6 pack mixer and got a free glass, I let my friend pick one out since Boyfriend has banned me from bringing more home(we may or may not have a full shelf of glasses from breweries already.). There were so many interesting menu items that I would like to try! So, with that being said I’ll be back(said in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice).

Brew N Que occasionally shows up in Unilocal’s top 5 restaurants of Raleigh. A former food truck has now moved into a small space that sells barbecue and craft beer. I do emphasize the word small. Brew N Que has a sitting area that can’t accommodate more than 20 or so people. I dined here with a friend towards the end of the lunch rush on a Saturday. Big Mike welcomed us, and told us that tables should open up soon. He gave us the chance to order our food and drinks before we sat down. I ordered a pulled pork plate with mac n cheese, blue cheese slaw, and sweet tea for around $ 12.50. Our table opened soon enough, and our food followed shortly afterwards. Each table features 3 sauces — an Eastern NC vinegar-based sauce, a sweet and tangy sauce, and Frank’s Red Hot. I was a big fan of their Eastern NCBBQ sauce. Mike told us that he is looking forward to also making their own hot sauce, but space constraints currently make it difficult. The pork was very good. Chopped/pulled pork is easy to do pretty well, tough to differentiate. Brew N Que figured out how to differentiate their pork. I was delighted by the taste and portion size of the pork, and I certainly rate this among the best that I’ve had. I was slightly underwhelmed by their sides. There are somehow no hushpuppies on the menu. How can you serve barbecue without hushpuppies? That’s like Journey without Steve Perry, Genesis without Peter Gabriel, or One Direction without Zayn — simply inconceivable. I will never fault a place for trying to do something different. Brew N Que’s mac n cheese features a heavy pepper flavor, and a more subtle cheese flavor. I appreciate their endeavor and would rate this mac n cheese higher than Velveeta mac n cheese any day. Still, I wasn’t that big of a fan. The only other legitimate negative to the experience is the space. In addition to being rather cramped, Brew N Que kept the temperature rather low. As a fat dude who sweats very easily, it is typically tough for me to get cold. Not at this place. Worse yet, my food got cold even more quickly than my toes. Brew N Que has a lot of promise, and I look forward to seeing the restaurant’s continued evolution. As it currently stands, there are some issues that I have with the restaurant, but I will happily return.

I had a great experience here — the server, the DELICIOUS brisket, and the beer selection! I think the owner himself was working in the back getting our food and the service was so friendly and helpful. They informed us that they ran out of brisket and only had the«burnt tips» but he told us that he personally thinks the tips are better. So we said we were fine getting these burnt tips and oh wow. He wasn’t kidding. The meat was so juicy and so flavorful. The bbq sauces were all different and unique. My boyfriend liked the blueberry slaw as well. And we left with one of our favorite beers — a sixpack of watermelon beer! It’s in a tiny strip and from the outside, it doesn’t look like much, but thanks to Unilocal,we stumbled upon this little place and it was terrific from start to finish.

I’ve had high expectations about this place because of the Unilocal reviews and the unique menu items(i.e. Redneck Nachos, Piggy Mac, BBQ Tacos, etc), and my expectations were blown away! I’m tempted to give this more than 4 stars but I gotta try more of the menu. All I can say is this is the best BBQ I’ve had so far in Wake County. I ended up going with the basic pork plate with smoked potato salad and blue cheese slaw. I was skeptical of the pork because its chopped instead of pulled… I was way off. The pork is amazing, and has a great crust and rich smokey flavor. The Vinegar BBQ, Eastern Sweet and Tangy, and Hot Sauce are all great and unique. You can’t go wrong with the sauces, go with whatever your preference is and you won’t be disappointed. On top of the killer BBQ the sides are amazing, and to me that’s what makes a BBQ place great. The Blue Cheese Cole Slaw is the perfect contrast to smoked pork and BBQ sauce, especially on a sandwich. The Smoked Potato Salad was a incredible spin to the standard side. It tasted like a cross between fried and baked potatoes made into a potato salad with chedder cheese, how can that be bad? On top of the great food the service is great and the owner even brought our table out a pimento cheese snack with fresh baked bread to tide us over until we got our lunches. The pimento cheese is top notch and how can fresh baked bread even be bad(from Great Harvest Bread Co next door). I’m gonna be back here for sure but for now I’d say this is my favorite BBQ spot outside of Durham and Mike definitely knows what he is doing.

Brew N Que was on my list for a while and finally got to try it out on Saturday night. It is located right next to Great Harvest Bread Company and there is a pink pig bbq grill outside that lets you know you are in the right place. The restaurant and beer shop are really small yet that is what make it so quaint. There are about 3 tables and then seats at the bar area and it is first-come, first serve. We were lucky enough to join another couple at their table and sharing a table was not a problem at all. We did come a little too late though on a Saturday night because they were out of pork. We opted for chopped chicken instead with two sides and it was some of the best flavored chicken I have ever had. I also like how there is not much clean-up because the food is served on a silver tray lined with maroon paper and your entrée and sides are all there. No plates needed and all you get is a fork and maybe a glass if you order a beer. Their beer selection is really good and they have bottled beers to purchase in wooden shelving on the front side of the establishment and then many local brews on tap. They had Sierra Nevada, Bombshell, Foothills, Hi-Wire and a few others and you can see the current list on . The prices were great at about $ 10 a plate and the bartender/server was really kind. You pay at the cash register on your way out and I now want to come back when they have some bbq to try it out!

I don’t give out many five stars but couldn’t really find much wrong here! We ordered the Piggy Mac which was creamy and decadent and covered in salt and vinegar chips which was interesting. When we ordered a meat and two sides, we were given the option of splitting the meats so we asked for pork and end brisket to give them both a try. The pork was tasty and there were three sauces we could choose from to moisten it further. The brisket was in large chunks with an amazing crust and super moist. The collards had a nice spice to them and the potato«salad» was a flavor explosion! My absolute 100% favorite tho was the $ 1 wing I tried. Super crispy and amazing flavor! No sauce needed! Definitely one of the best wings I’ve ever had.

This place is tucked away in an unassuming shopping strip, easy to miss. But don’t miss it. Walk in and you’ll see a wall full of brews and then some seating for bbq specials. The menu is small which is the right way to do it. You can see them prepping food before it reaches your table. We took bar seats and were welcomed by our hostess with information on the brews on tap. we could taste and select which was great since the brews were new for us. We ordered a Taco and Smoked Chicken salad burger. I loved my Taco. Pork was moist and tender and perfect with the coleslaw topping. But the star for me was Smoke Potato Salad. It was nothing like I have ever had before. Those potatoes were smoked and had skin ons. Still dreaming of it. I would definitely go back for more.

I found a few surprises at Brew N Que and it reminded me that sometimes it’s best to set your expectations aside. My first surprise was the service. BNQ was crowded late in the afternoon so my hubby and I decided to sit at the bar when a family with a small child finished their meals and freed up some seats. It was clearly busy both in the dining area and with a steady flow of takeout orders. An employee could have simply wiped the bar area down but instead came around the bar to sweep the floor before inviting us to have a seat. Every employee seemed helpful and efficient in their work. And, we didn’t wait long for our orders despite how busy it was. My next, and best surprise, was a dry-rub chicken wing. Forget wings that swim in a sugary sauce; these wings were nothing like that. The dry rub was amazing. The outside was perfectly crispy with a touch of spicy heat to the finish and the inside was juicy. The dry rub was so delicious that I couldn’t bring myself to add even a drop of sauce. Next came my potato salad surprise. The smoked potato salad has its appeal. The smoky flavor of cheesy potatoes is tasty and nothing like any potato salad I’ve ever experienced. I wouldn’t even classify this as potato salad. I’d call them home fries. I’d call them cheese fries. I’d even call them potato surprise. Not potato salad. Regardless, it was very tasty and if you like potatoes and cheese, and you can set your preconceived notions about potato salad aside, you’ll probably love these. The collards surprised me but not in a good way. I somehow heard ‘kale mix’ when I asked about the greens and was hopefully optimistic since I love kale and collards when freshly sauteed and perfectly seasoned, especially with garlic. I must have imagined hearing ‘kale mix’ since I don’t recall seeing any kale. Unfortunately, my hopes may have been a bit lofty. They weren’t as tasty as I would have liked and I wasn’t a fan of the thick stalks included with the greens. The bleu cheese cole slaw was tasty and different. I love bleu cheese but maybe not enough for the generous amount in this slaw. I preferred my hubby’s plain cole slaw but he enjoyed his so much that by the time I wanted more of his, it was gone. Overall, a great little BBQ place with some delicious and different flavors.

Wow is what I can say Went here because Clyde Coopers downtown was closed, trust Unilocal reviews and they were right. Simple cute place with lots of beer, limited seating. They will need to expand once word gets out how good they are. Family friendly. Quick and polite service, beer samples allowed. Order Piggy Mac for appetizer And split Meat and two sides combo of brisket and blue cheese coleslaw and baked beans. Got a small order of pulled pork. Everything was amazing. Sauces were great. Brisket was the best we’ve had in a long time probably since we lived in TX for a stint. piggy Mac and cheese was good but nothing too special. I love me some Mac n cheese and Poole’s still holds the champion belt for me Had banana pudding for dessert… My comparison is my southern 82 year old grandma’s… While this doesn’t beat hers it’s a close 2nd! Price seemed a bit high but overall was good and worth it. Looking to have them caterer. Unilocalers… go and enjoy!

HOLYCOW Not only is this the best bbq in Cary, it’s the best bbq I’ve had in my entire life. Ordered a half plate of brisket and chopped pork. Some baked beans. And an IPA from Fullsteam — on tap of course. Sat down at the bar. Owner comes over, hey, we got some burnt ends, want ‘em? If I were to put in a last meal, for a death row sort of deal, I would order those burnt ends and baked beans. The chopped pork was great. Really, really good. But it took a backseat to the brisket. And on my way our, I grabbed a 4-pack of Coffee is for Closers Porter from Fullsteam. Their beer list is great. This place is too small. If word gets out, it’s gonna be a madhouse over there.

I’ll make it easy for you. Go try it out! You won’t be disappointed! The ‘brick and motor’ of the Big Mike’s BBQ barn does BBQ well just as the food truck does. They have a ‘bottle shop’ spin off with a small(but very good) menu of classic southern BBQ favorites and sides and several local drafts. My husband and I went in for a quick weeknight meal. The place is small and can fill up quickly but we arrived ~7:50is and there was one table leaving and we jumped to take it. We twinned it up and both got the chopped BBQ, collards, and mac and cheese… all were delicious. When we return… we will be trying the baconnana pudding… thats right banana pudding with bacon(I can picture that I will die and go to southern taste bud heaven). i think they might be thinking about expanding in the future even after being open for a few months. While we were there we saw four take out orders as well, so take out is also a great option with it being so close to our home.
