Once you find this place, you’ll never go back to greatclips! Every now and then I’ll find it hard to explain the style I want, but that’s why I’m not the one getting paid!
Overall, fantastic experience. Great price, great staff, and great service.
Pro tip: call for an appointment. Really wish I could schedule online…

It used to be great, my kids loved it they had been there twice and were raving about it. But I think now since they are so much in demand their customer service sucks. I went there today with my son for whom I had called in earlier for an appointment we got there 7 minutes later. We got delayed due to traffic, the lady gave a cold look and said because we were late the lady had moved on to her next customer. Then she told me of their policy that if a customer is 5 minutes late then the appointment gets cancelled! She never told me that over the phone! I asked her if she could squeeze in as the whole place was empty there was nobody except one person getting a haircut! She refused and told us to come 2 hours later. She had a demeanor that seemed rude. I would never go there again for sure. There is no customer service. The concept is nice where they just have peanuts and a lounge like a man cave. I could do that at home and give a better haircut to my little man. Without saying the «neck trims are free»
You see nobody wants to be late on purpose. I could have said yes to the 2 hours later appointment but I could not tolerate her attitude, too glassy eyed and inhuman zombie person.

Good little place to get a cut. From out of town and didn’t want to wait till got back. Super cheap, quick service, waiting time was 10 minutes without appointment. Good job on cut, and hot towel with shampoo was nice. Quick shoulder massage was unnecessary but it added to it.

You get what you pay for. I wanted to try a new place and saw the reviews, so decided to give this place a try. First off, I showed the lady a picture of a prior hair cut and then she started cutting. The end result was hair 10 times shorter than I asked for and that was no where near the picture. The sides are perfect but for the top, no where close. Basically, if you don’t have short hair or don’t like the close cut of clippers, this place isn’t for you.
As for my experience, I am used to talking to the person cutting my hair and connecting with them, and typically they ask if I want my hair shorter or if it’s good at that time. At this place you do not get any conversation from my experience. The lady cut my hair in about 15 minutes with no conversation or questions at all, not once asking how I felt about the cut.
Not everything is bad here. The towel was nice along with the shampoo and for the price it really is unbeatable if you’re looking for a simple and short cut. Unfortunately that wasn’t what I was looking for and was truly unsatisfied with my experience. This review reflects my experience with one staff member and does not reflect the entire staff here.

Simply great service all around!!! Comfortable lounge area and every salon booth had its own TV and sink! It’s an amazing experience for just a $ 12 hair cut. Suzy also is a terrific stylist and treats you very well! I highly recommend to others! I found my new hair salon

You pay just $ 12 + tips ! … Well what do you get for that…
Your haircut ends with a shoulder massage. And before that, you get a hair wash with tea tree shampoo which leaves your scalp cool (you will appreciate the feeling in summer). That is only time you will never get to watch the TV. All the other time, you can with some complimentary peanuts to munch on… The only thing missing here is beer. But, I am asking too much.
A regular for the past 3 years. My stylist Heidi knows exactly what I want and throws recommendations at times when asked. Never had a disappointing haircut in the last 3 years. That should say something. And to top that, it is a 25 min drive from where I live.
Bottomline: Massage, hair wash, TV and peanuts and finally great hair cut !

Blew me away. First let me cover the essentials: GREAT HAIRCUTS. With great advice and honest opinions. My girl barber (Sarah) recommended something slightly different than what I wanted and told me why it would look better. I told her to go for it and I look better, heck maybe even younger LOL. So great haircuts, CHECK. On top of that they shampoo and wash your hair! They put a warm towel on my face and I felt very relaxed. Very cozy. And then a massage, it wasn’t a top of the line massage but it was a nice touch. And all of that for $ 12.50… Amazing. Recommend Forsure and will come back!

Most of the barbers/​stylists are good and are easily a step above their competition in their price range. Nothing fancy, just a good clean cut in a reasonable amount of time.
Do make an appointment on weekends. They are always busy. If you are late by 5 minutes you will have to reschedule.
Do not expect a walk-​in and sit down in a chair. There is always a wait of an hour. They do have coffee and peanuts in the waiting area to keep you occupied, but the seating is limited. Sports are typically on while you wait.
Each barber is different and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Don’t like how it turned out? Go again and see if you can request a different person. Once you find the one, request them when you call to make an appointment.
I’ve been going here for the past few months and have finally found a few professionals that do really well. I’ll keep coming back as long as they are still there.

Best haircut that my husband has ever had! We just moved here from Boston and my husband used go to a stylist that charged him $ 35!!! He barely has any hair (don’t tell him that I said that) he was so happy about the job they did and raved about the peanuts and hot towel. I’m taking my son for a haircut tonight, hopefully he has a great experience also!

Wow! What an experience. Now I am just a poor ol’ country boy from the Sandhills of North Carolina who happened into Raleigh today needing a haircut. I found The Guys Place on my phone while eating lunch and saw that their haircuts were only $ 12.00. That is what I pay my local barber to cut my hair so I thought, «What the heck, I’ll give it a try.»
When I walked into The Guys Place I was greeted by a pleasant receptionist who had me sign in. Just a couple minutes later Tracy came out and called me by name and said she would be cutting my hair. She asked me how I wanted it cut and she follow the instructions explicitly. The hair cut was worth the $ 12. But that was only the beginning. After she finished she tilted me back and laid a warm towel on my face and began washing my hair. Now that is something my local barber would never think of. After my hair was washed, dried and styled, the best part came. Tracy opens her drawer and pulls out an electric massager and begins rubbing my shoulders. It did end there, but what an experience. I felt compelled to give her $ 20 dollars and felt that she earned every penny of it.

I just went to the barbers yesterday, granted it was for my brother (he is 16), and it was awesome. There was a great ambiance and everyone that walked in seemed to be in some way a regular, not that I could see how they needed a haircut as their hair was already super short ha. As my brother needed quite a haircut as he let it grow out all winter I was having trouble picking a haircut for him, thankfully we ended up going with the haircut of one of the stylists named Samuel, simply a little shorter on my brother. They did a great job on his hair and didn’t even mind that I was making changes through out the haircut, he had no problem picking the right length. The only thing that kept me from four stars is that if you in a hurry make sure you make an appointment this is a very busy shop and you are taking a gamble if you walk in like we did the wait on a Friday afternoon was right around 50 min before we went in. This is such a great value for the price I really recommend it for any guy and especially moms that have boys that don’t like to cut their hair, you can direct the whole thing :)

I recognize some folks’ concerns about varying quality, but I’ve had great success when specifically requesting what I want. You can’t expect a stylist to know how you like your cuts after one visit.
That said, I’ve found the price for services rendered to be phenomenal. This lets me come in more frequently without worry, and allows me to stay clean cut cheaply. They do good work, they try, and their prices can’t be beat.

I visited the Barber Shop for my 3^rd time on Tuesday, September 24. The first time, I was impressed, so I came back. The second time was not so good, but I thought it was a fluke. After my third visit, I’m seeing something very clearly — if you want your hair cut with scissors, you will want to go somewhere else.
At a traditional barbershop, one would expect the stylist to have great skills with scissors. I do not mean my next statement to be insensitive, but I look like a mentally handicapped person with my current haircut. This is problematic for me since I am interviewing for a senior position with a very reputable company in a few days. I look like an idiot. I had to trim my hair myself where hair was left too long and in some places, it’s too short. I don’t think my neck line is right. I could go on.
If your options are a Flowbee or The Barber Shop, I can’t make a strong recommendation either way. If you’re used to having someone who knows what they’re doing cutting your hair, you’re better off sticking with them.
I do not like giving a single star. I wanted to like the place — I really did. It’s a shame — the concept is great, but I have my own leather furniture and I can purchase peanuts for myself. What I can’t do is give myself a professional-​looking haircut. I’m now fairly certain that Barber Shop in Cary can’t, either.

I am a guy with short, simple hair. I don’t need anything fancy done whenever I want a trim every six weeks or so. For this, The Barbershop fits my needs perfectly. It is cheap, the staff have always been personable with me, especially the man I presume to be the owner, and my haircuts have always been what I’ve expected. The additional use of the hot towels and the back massages are a nice touch though they obviously don’t make my haircut any different. I have been going to The Barbershop for four years now and don’t intend on switching.
I give four stars because the haircut suffices what I need, the price is right, and the staff have never given me reason to complain. I’m also not one to expect to walk in on a Saturday afternoon and not wait; so I call ahead and make an appointment.
Why I didn’t give five stars is because I have no idea how skilled the barbers truly are as my trims take a mere minutes and I am done. For me it works but I can’t assess it in comparison to other barbershops or salons.
Guys, need something simple, cheap, and good? The Barbershop has you covered.

I had a really bad experience there yesterday and wanted to give myself some time to reflect on it before writing a review.
First, the place is cheap. That’s not a bad thing, but perhaps you pay for what you get.
Second, I arrived and was told it would be about a 30 minute wait. An hour later I was still waiting as others who had called ahead were taken in front of me. One guy came in and said he had signed up for a wait an hour ago and decided to come back.
Third, I had been there twice before, and well, the haircut seemed to ok at best, but I really didn’t think they did a very good job and frankly I really wasn’t very satisfied. Obviously, I didn’t think enough of the cut to want to ask for the person again.
Fourth, the level of customer service, attitude, and sense of appreciation for customers just doesn’t seem to be there. As I waited, several barbers came out talked with their co-​workers for as long as 10 minutes before then deciding to go on break and walk out the front door — leaving me waiting and left to wonder, how much longer would I have to wait? I felt like I was being avoided…
The place has gotten good ratings by the press in Raleigh, but I have to wonder what criteria was used? Who voted?
I never got a haircut yesterday, despite waiting an hour, two more customers walked in and said they had an appointment, and so after being next for 3 times, I felt it was like a third strike. I was pretty sure at least one of these calls came while I was waiting in their lobby, if not even all three!
I won’t be back. Of course, if you don’t mind spending an hour or two doing nothing on your Saturday, waiting indefinitely, and don’t really care about your hair cut that much, and getting a cheap deal is important, well…

First thing I asked the receptionist when i called to make an appt was «who do you recommend to cut my hair.» I get it cut every 3 weeks and having it cut right is very important to me… She then said, «Oh they’re all good, so it doesn’t matter.» (Hindsight… That was my 1^st sign to jump ship) I get there and I explain how I’ve been getting my hair cut for the last 10 years. I use scissors and not clippers. He challenged me stating he uses clippers just as well because his hands are too big for scissors. Long story short the haircut sucked! I can’t believe the contrast from my last stylist. I’ll never return.
I am hoping I can find a place where they know how to cut a man’s hair with some skills. I respect businesses and all they do to maintain their image but this place needs a personnel refresh.
Hire some random secret shoppers (who values their image) to come in with some specific expectations and you’ll see what work needs to be done.
The 2^nd star was for the co$t and free in-​between haircut maintenance they offer. For some that might be a great benefit

Like most men, my haircut is just an errand, but I was getting irritated that my haircut was being completely botched at other places (not here).
The first time I came here, I already knew it would become my place. $ 11 for a haircut, shampoo, and massage. Big leather seats and peanuts while you wait and the haircut is done right. This would still be my place for a haircut if they charged double that.

Decided to get an impromptu haircut at the Hair Cuttery on Kildaire only to see the place had closed, boo.
So I fired up the Unilocal!mobile app and found this place. I saw in the reviews they could get busy with walk-​ins having to wait a good bit so I called. Receptionist said to run over as they currently had only about a 10 minute wait.
She lied.
I walked in, signed my name, and they sat me right away. So I missed out on the leather chair, peanuts, and coffee treatment they have available in the waiting area.
The stylist asked me what I wanted and spent a good 20 minutes on my hair. This is a LONG time for the amount of hair I have. But it came out very neat looking, and she stopped multiple times to blow dry off the clippings.
I have never gone for the shampoo, but I wasn’t given the option. She whirled me around, put the hot towel on my face, washed my hair, massaged my temples, and had me up and dried before I knew what had really happened.
This was followed up by a nice back and shoulder massage — with a handheld machine — that felt pretty good for what it was.
$ 11.50 b/​c I wasn’t paying in cash.
I’d definitely come back here again, but next time I won’t chance the wait and will make an appt in advance. As I was walking out there were already 6 guys sitting waiting and more walking in.
One last nice touch, HD TV’s with DirecTV and remotes in each of the stations. I didn’t change the channel as I was too lazy to reach up for the remote, but they had already turned on closed captioning so you could tell what was going on. A minor detail, but something I picked up on and appreciated.
I’ll amend to a 5-​star after a 2^nd visit and if the Missus approves of the haircut!

Interesting Concept… But
I am a guy, and getting my «hair done» is not high on my list of priorities. I view it as nothing more than a once-​a-​month hassle, nothing more, nothing less. I found out about this place on Unilocal and decided I just had to try it.
The concept was interesting: Create a barbershop tailored for men. If you go into one of the big national chain places (like Hair Cuttery, Great Clips, etc) it feels more like a beauty salon than a barbershop. There are always lots of women in there getting their hair done backing up the line. Women walk into these places for a perm and color, and tie someone up for two hours. Then, all of us guys who just need a quick ten minute hair cut are forced to wait. So… I was really looking forward to trying this place out!
When I walked in there were a good 10 – 12 people in the waiting area. All of the seats were taken so I stood up in the corner. About fifteen minutes later my name was called and I went in the back. All of the hair cut chairs are divided by ¾ walls and so it is somewhat private. There is a 19″ LCD tv in each of these booths, and the stylist makes sure to sit you in the chair pointing at your own private little television. Pretty neat. Also of interest is that the hair wash sink is inside the very same little booth. So, there is no need for you to go one place for the shampoo, and then go some place else for the hair cut… a great model of efficiency that I appreciate.
Ten minutes later I walked out with my hair cut. Price is $ 11.50 + tip which is about the norm. Overall, pretty satisfied.
Now…the complaint. And this is not targeted at The Guys Place… rather, it is targeted at some of their patrons. The name of this establishment is ‘The Gays Place.” Therefore, I was rather shocked when I walked in and the waiting area was filled with women and children. Some were waiting on their husbands/​boyfriends, others had children with them who were awaiting a haircut. These children ranged from 2 years, up to 14 years old.
Ladies, I would like to inform you that little 2 year old Johnny is not a «guy» and has no business getting his hair cut at a place called «The Guys Place.» This might sound like a terrible over reaction on my part… but I was expecting something different, I was expecting what the name of the business implies. If I wanted a «family hair salon» there are plenty of those in town. I was looking for a place of just guys, who are interested in getting in and out as quickly as possible. Not some place filled with women, kids, and teenagers.
While I will continue to get my haircut here (until someone opens up a Strip Club Barbershop) I do wish that my fellow citizens of Cary would use a little more commonsense. I do not hang out at Victoria’s Secret… so ladies, please do not hang out at The Guys Place…
