My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon 25 years ago and went back for our silver anniversary. It was different yet the same. Quiet, peaceful, simple, unique. The staff was very nice, breakfasts were yummy. Castine is off the beaten path so if you really want to get away, this is a great spot! If you go in the off-season or early in the week, expect it to be very quiet!

The Manor came recommended to us from a friend who had recently been in Castine, and it was very good. This is a reservation-only restaurant, but there was room for us at an early siting, and since we had skipped lunch, the timing worked out well. We started at the bar and were seated overlooking the inn’s front lawn in the main dining area. The bar is cozy and you can hear piano music filtering in from the parlor. Dinner was terrific. I had the spaghetti with Bolognese sauce(I was craving comfort food) and my friend had grilled salmon over red quinoa and fresh watercress. Mutual food envy! Both were outstanding, and our server, Aubrey(who a delight and also tending bar) recommended perfect wine selections for each dish.(Thank you, Aubrey!) If you’re in Castine, The Manor is well worth a visit.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. Our room was spacious and elegant, with views of the ocean. Despite the grandure, the manor is so cozy, with a welcoming living room and sitting porch. We loved spending a whole rainy day cuddling on the couch in our room. The two owners are the sweetest couple we could imagine. They upgraded our room, because we came on the off season. Score! The free breakfast was yummy, with fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee, and a choice of pancake, waffles, eggs, etc. the goat cheese and abacado omelet was great, but I mostly stuck with oatmeal and yummy fresh strawberries. The inn is right on the coast. Walking the area is just stunning. There are kayak rental companies, parks, beaches, and art galleries in the area. It’s really quiet, esp. In the off season, but it was a great time.

A friend graduated from MMA in May of 2010. We went here for the post graduation dinner with family and friends. The food is excellent as are the drinks. The crab cakes are fabled to be a 100 year old recipe to which they have yet divulged the ingredients. Of course, 3 of the party ordered the crab cakes and they were phenomenal(peekeytoe crab and mustard chili aioli). We had a rainbow trout with mango mint mojo and a steak. Everything was excellent, I had several Hendricks and tonic and others had various drinks. The deserts are house made, the rhubarb pie was excellent. You can get rooms here. Nice setting right back from Castine Harbor.
