This bar leaves a lot to be desired. Upon entrance the overwhelming odor of a dusty, old bar hits you. Most of the beers on tap are not in service, limiting your options to 3 beers out of 12 taps. The food options are limited to what the bar has in stock and not what the menu displays. The interior is dated and has not seen a paint brush or face lift since the early 90’s. We came during March Madness in hopes to catch some of the action on the several TV’s, only to find they are set on the Latina network. The food was served in a «do it yourself» manner, a large onion, yellow lettuce and ketchup/mustard(already on the table). Silverware is not served, so you will need to use your fries to spread the ketchup on the burger. Needless to say I won’t be back.

Gross place, disgusting staff. The«regulars» tried to start a fight with my girl and I because apparently I looked at them wrong. Bunch of bullies in this place. Will not be back.

How does such an awful place stay in business? Apparently you are only worth even acknowledging if you are one of their«regulars.» Sat there for 20 mins, tried to flag down some staff who avoided eye contact and straight out ignored us. If you don’t want to make money and invite in new customers, that’s fine. I’d rather spend my time and money in a place that may have been cleaned within the last century. Won’t be back and we let a lot of other people know not to waste their time.

Lets take a moment and talk about our $ 13 bill. We stopped in for happy hour because these were my guys old stomping grounds when he lived in Denver. Luckily it was happy hour too! We ordered 5 whiskey and gingers as well as a taco… our bill was ONLY $ 13 for FIVE drinks and a taco. I could not believe how inexpensive this place was. The drinks were good not too strong but good. The taco however was not so good. We did see a lot people that ordered the tacos and enjoyed them but it must have just not been our taste. Overall, stop in for the drinks and the divey atmosphere!

This place is a dive but the food is pretty good. Had the fried mushrooms. They were fresh and made to order. Onion rings were really good but you could tell they had been fried in the same oil as the fish. Burgers were made on a flat top like they should be. Beer wasn’t very cold. If you don’t expect much you will be fine coming her for drinks and apps.

Walked in to meet a friend here and before I decided to sit at the bar I went to the restroom. After seeing that it was enough to not make me eat there. I could not believe how disgusting the bathroom was. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Nasty nasty nasty.

It’s a dive bar, we used to call it «the dirty» Back in the day everyone knew your name and what you drank and when to cut you off even! It’s changed spruced up a little but doesn’t have the same feeling as back in the day say 6 years ago

Been here before but tried something different this time. Good atmosphere and pork green chile! Service was great, especially Terri(our server) but the salads were overdressed and spinach artichoke dip was oily.

The employees, food and atmosphere are terrible here. Go down the street to Maddie’s Biergarten for a much better experience.

The food is average, the service is slow and the atmosphere is dingy. The bartender served me a beer he knew he had mixed up.(There was two kinds of beer in one glass)

I have to say once they went non-smoking I was kind of bummed but since I’ve been there after that I’ve actually enjoyed myself a lot more. Had no idea their menu was extensive as it is. I had the steak quesadilla it was was amazing.

It’s a dive. But it is open. Open after a 5k run at Douglas County Fairgrounds where no beer or food were provided. Open on Christmas Day when I had an extra hour between families. Open, but… …smoke. Yes, smoking. Smoking, somehow, is still allowed here. I don’t know the rules, the law, or whatever… …but I don’t like being in the same room with smokers. Sorry. I would have given this place 4 stars for being open… except for the smoke.

Ok, so here is the scenario… it’s Christmas Day, you are bored, and you want to drive around for a little while. Then you end up in Castle Rock for a hike, do lunch and feel the need for a beer. Where do you go? Liquor stores are closed… you drive down Wilcox and what do you see? An open bar! This place was awesome! Open on Christmas day, several people in it… and one person bought a round for everyone! This was one of the best Christmas’ ever!

Nice restaurant with good food and service. Only drawback is smoking. No designated«smoking» areas so place is smokey. Still the turkey salad was very good.

I can’t speak to the food because we didn’t stay long enough to even look at menus… this place is nicknamed«The Dirty» for a very good reason! Apparently, this is one of the few places one can still smoke. I don’t smoke so I could smell the stale, funk immediately upon entering. We walked in to an open room. We didn’t know if we were supposed to be seated or just grab any seat. After a few minutes of watching us look around confused, the bartender finally asked if we needed help. «Do we just seat ourselves?»; she said yes. We sat down for about five minutes at a table, without receiving a menu(it isn’t like it was crowded at all… just a few(I assume because of the familiarity with the bartender) regulars at the bar. I set my arm on the table and stuck to it slightly. There was basically a haze over everything. It looked like someone had actually wiped down the table, but the cloth they used must have been greasy and dirty. Gross! «Can we just leave?» «Yes, let’s go.» I have been to and really enjoy dive bars, but I like places where I eat and drink to be clean… this place wasn’t. Sorry.

Fabulous food and service!!! The breakfast is the best in town, fresh and homemade just like Mom would make. One of my favorites is the grilled shrimp poboy, the gorgonzola and shrimp are a perfect combination. I would recommend this establishment to anyone, a must try!!!

As a dive bar aficionado — this place is a must! It’s always a good time, especially karaōke on Saturday night. It’s got great people watching and you can smoke inside. They have pool tables and lotto scratchers too. The clientele runs a 30 year age span which is the sign of a great dive bar. There is always some excitement to be had at the Castle Rock Bar. Saddle up to the bar and watch the shenanigans unfold.

Dive Bar Review: This place is a kick ass little dive bar in downtown Castle Rock. I’ll dip in here after work on my way back to Denver. Yup, rockin the tie and all. Good happy hour, great people looking and yes. .. . you can still smoke in here. For those dive bar aficionados out there, this is a must visit.
