If you like to people watch then there is plenty to see here. I suggest checking out their event calendar for a night with a theme that captures your interest and then find a comfortable spot in the outdoor section with unobstructed views. If it is a beautiful desert evening, the show will be better than any reality television program you’d be watching back in your hotel room. I’d also stick with bottled beer.

The Barracks is best place to go when in Palm Spring, a few minutes drive by car or by bus. Kevin and Marco were the best bartenders, they make the best drinks/shots. They are very friendly and will treat you very well. I will come back every time I visit Palm Springs. Thanks again Kevin and Marco.

Let me preface this review by stating that unless you are in the bear/leather scene, a leather fan, or just don’t care and wanna drink(that’s me), I’d steer clear of this place. Do not expect your typical gay gays. If you’re a lady and want to party with your girls and think you’ll encounter a fab real housewives type of gay, you will be very disappointed. If nudity and raunch offends you, this is not the place for you. If you’re not familiar with a different types of slang that you may hear from time to time, this bar caters to the following: BEARS, BEARS, ANDMOREBEARS — this may include CUBS(younger bears), Daddies(mature bears), Otters(skinnier bears), Chasers(those that love bears), Pandas(Asian bears), Goldilocks’(bear hags), and everything in between. I would say the Barracks is kind of a dying breed of gay bars in that it caters to a very specific demographic. It’s naughty, x-rated, dungeon-esque, kinky, and everything in between. Don’t be surprised if someone is being flogged on the patio at some point during the evening. If you’re into that, you’ll love it. If that’s not your thing, you might want to try something else. That being said, I really don’t mind the crowd and the drinks are stiff and cheap. This place doesn’t claim to be anything other than what it is and it doesn’t really have to. It also helps that nothing offends or shocks me these days. It’s a bit off the beaten path for me, but definitely a huge destination for the leather fans.

Barracks is the basic Lederbar, in the hot, hot heat of the Coachella Valley, a northwestern extension of the hostile Sonoran Desert. Every Sunday afternoon beer bust here from late March through early November has the misters & fans blowing hard in the outdoor patio to keep up with the rising heat of the desert sun & sometimes almost fully naked heat of «manimals». Good place to talk to & cavort around with others of the same ilk who glory in being themselves with other men. Fashion and/or clean obsessed«queens» and other fussy puritanical types need not apply unless you can appreciate the raw state of men in the rough and be civil about it. I’m sure there are other places for those who are all too uptight about themselves. Why come to the Barracks & torture yourselves? It’s so sad that some Gays must go around condemning their cohorts for being able to enjoy the freedom of just being their natural selves. Envy & bad self image can do awful things like twisting minds to lash out at themselves & the very people who are their own«kin». Amazingly in every human grouping, there is a small minority of people who are their own group’s worst enemy. Some would define these kind of beings as Quislings. 45 years after the Stonewall Gay Liberation Movement, and all these antediluvian attitudes are still happening among Gays. Unbelievable that some Gays are still not comfortable about their very being. «Le plus ca change, le plus ca meme chose.» Come to the Barracks on other days too & enjoy a beer, mixed drink, and catch up w/the men in the Palm Springs general area. Don’t expect Barracks to be on par with the Ritz Carlton or the Georges Pompidou. Plenty of parking surrounding the property with additional parking on the street. Barracks is especially festive during Palm Springs Gay Pride. Come & enjoy being your friendly self.

Closest bar to my hotel and I was by far the most overdressed man in the crowd — not best dressed, overdressed. Like, most of the crowd was wearing next to nothing. You see, it was late, the place that we were partying at was screeching to a halt and a small group of us were looking to continue the party. Enter, The Barracks. I’m not gay but don’t bat an eye or think twice at going to a gay bar. It’s all good in my book, the drinks are typically cheap, a bit stronger and the crowd is usually pretty welcoming and wild. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. We showed about an hour before closing, the crowd and bartender gave us a little bit of the cold shoulder and it lacked the cray that I am used to at most gay bars. Most guys stared across the room at the TVs, which were playing some pretty graphic movies. Once again, I’m not bothered by it but it’s worth mentioning for anyone else who may be thinking about going here that may find such content as shocking — for me it simply killed the vibe crowd. Not a bad patio and I didn’t see any of the escapades mentioned in previous reviews about it. I’d love to check this place out on a more lively night and update my experience!

Sunday beer bust best in Palm Springs for looking at have naked men, not boys but men. The kind of men that your mother told you about, but you did not listen to her. Hot sexy, tanned men

As previously stated by another Unilocaler… they lost their license(see pic). Was more bummed that we drove all the way down only to be greeted by a locked door. Blame my assumption, but would have been nice if their new hours were a little more available on their website or something. I’ll update my review hopefully in the future if they get their license back,

It’s was dark, dingy and had a few guys at the bar. My friend and I walked around and after furniture surfing we found a few torn up bar stools and sat down outside on the patio and then it happened. We seen a guy in a back dark corner on his knees giving oral service. We were both disgusted and my friend and I walked out, called the police and left.
