Over the past few years my daughter and I have had to go wheat-free and are sooooo thankful that Brown Butter Cookie Co has gluten-free offerings! And they taste great! We had the lemon poppy and cocoa mint and couldn’t decide which was better. Wonderful to bring a little bit of Cayucos home with us!(I hope they start making them in the original flavor as well.)

Amazing! Trying the free samples made it even harder to choose what to buy. Purchased a bag of citrus for myself, which were to die for. They even had a little cayenne pepper inside, making them wonderful. Bought my hubby the original. They are super good too! They even have gluten free options.

This place is delicious. The cookies are simply not anything you’ll get anywhere else. Sweet & Soft, chewy without being doughy. They have several flavors, but I just like the original brown butter cookie. VERYEXPENSIVE. 6 cookies the size of a half dollar: more than $ 7. 12 cookies, more than $ 13. This is a boutique bakery, so I guess this is to be expected, but let’s just say I don’t get to buy cookies very often.

The walkability of downtown Cayucos is super rad. Explore this laid-back town, and stroll into Brown Butter Cookie Company on your way to the Cayucos Pier to buy a bag of the cookies that made them famous. No sample needed-these cookies are guaranteed to please. The staff is super friendly, and the bakers can be seen behind the counter making more of the cookies you’ll be craving on the way home.

Not a fan. Cookies are salty shortbread type cookies, not sweet. Nothing spectacular. Don’t fall for the hype.

YUM !! These cookies are off the hook! Lemon, original, cocoa, poppyseed, and chocolate-mint ! All amazing. Cayucos is such a cute town — worth the stop for these cookies alone! Check ‘me out

While visiting family in Cayucos for the Christmas holiday, I wandered into the Brown Butter Cookie Company and was offered a cocoa cookie sample. Well, one thing led to another and I am delighted that these are available without prescription! The cocoa cookies disappeared, as well as a glass of milk. The«originals» seemed to evaporate on exposure to air. The«espresso» cookies accompanied my morning coffee, and the spice cookies seemed to vanish soon after — though I suspect I know who the guilty party may be on that disappearance. Yes, I recommend these cookies. «Got milk?»

This is a staple every time I drive past Cayucos on the PCH from Socal to Norcal. A charming barn-like building(they used to be a smaller and even more charming barn before they moved down the street and expanded)…a bustling store in the middle of a quiet charming beachtown. Right when you walk in, you can smell the brown butter and cookies. They offer you samples right away. Everything is handmade/handrolled. The price for their cookie packages are a bit expensive, but understandably. everything is indeed handrolled. Their cookies are very fresh!

The staff is very pleasant, and quite generous with their samples, offering not only the original, but anything we wanted to taste! While I did enjoy the Cocoa cookies, my favorite of the(surprisingly, egg-free) cookies is the original… the Brown Butter Sea Salt. A little dry, but flavorful, and the cookies maintain their shape(attractive little gifts). Nice corner location in Paso Robles, and cute little cookie shop. Fun stop!

Been dying to try these bad boys for over a year Everyone I know has been here and raved about their cookies. I finally got my chance today and and drove up to cayucus to see the newly reopened pier and try these. So many happy people working there making cookies and offering samples. I tried the espresso cookie but it didn’t have enough zing to it. Then the origijal and hit gold!!! Then I tried to he lemon poppy(GF) and was in heaven. I bought a dozen original and 6 lemon poppy for about $ 20 :) nice way to end my day

Free cookie samples? Why yes, please! Unfortunately, the only one I liked was the honey cookie. The style of cookie is just too dry, but the honey cookie was thin and chewy. My BF liked the original brown butter one, but we thought the place was kind of over-rated and very over-priced. Not terrible, but I prefer chewy cookies that don’t make my mouth dry

I wanted to give 5 stars, but, yes, but… the staff’s friendly meter was not jumping off the charts. I expect a little more from a place that charges over a dollar a cookie. Don’t get me wrong, I bought 30 $ worth of cookies. The cookies themselves are super friendly and uniquely delicious. Maybe next year. I’ll be back. Yummy.

We saw a sign for this shop on the freeway so we decided to check it out. I thought the little beach town it was located in was so cute! A lot of people when I came here! I bought an everything cookie, oatmeal raisin cookie and bag of granola. I liked the baked cookie(oatmeal raisin) more than I liked their speciality cookies. Everything else was just okay. They have samples of their brown butter cookies but not the classic cookies. So make sure you sample before you buy! Three stars for good oatmeal raisin cookie and the customer service!

We appreciated the free samples. Brown butter sea salt cookie was like a shortbread. The cocoa cookie was similar, but with a strong bitter, salty and sweet cocoa flavor. We liked the lemon sugar cookie as well.

We were in Cayucos eating at Ruddell’s and saw the cookie factory so of course we had to go in :). The cookies are delish but pricey. They readily give out samples. They have multiple flavors to choose from and my faves were the original and the almond. For three cookies it’s 3.25 for original and 3.75 for other flavors. The cookies are small so it is pretty expensive per cookie. Would make a nice gift or stocking stuffer.

That giant sign on Hwy 1 really worked. When cruising through this cute town we stopped in to sample these cookies because we saw that darn sign. The samples are generous and good marketing. They are amazing cookies. That butter and salt combo is awesome. These cookies are not cheap but a delightful treat nonetheless.

Driving down PCH during a road trip, we saw signs for Brown Butter and had to stop by the small town of Cayucos to get a taste. Brown Butter is literally right off of Highway 1. Cayucos is very much the epitome of a sleepy beachside town, so it’s not difficult finding Brown Butter. There’s ONE wide street that is packed with all of the restaurants and cafes, so find any parking spot along the street and you’ll be good since everything is walking distance. Upon entering, a smiley and friendly greeter offered us samples. We had their salted brown sugar cookie(the«original») and all immediately agreed to buy their pre-packaged bag of six. Their cookies are crumbly, firm, and very delicious and aromatic with butter. I love this cookie, even though I am a chewy cookie kind of gal. As a baker myself, I love to make cookies… so I actually think I can make their shortbread-esque cookies at home. This is why I wouldn’t stop by here again if I happen to pass by on another road trip. I wouldn’t stop by again because I think it’s a tourist trap with its high prices, but it’s great for a one-time visit. Their staff are extremely polite and friendly – 5 stars to them! The space is open, airy, and clean! Feel free to sample any type of cookie you want. They have lots of flavors from lemon to oatmeal, so all types of cookies are represented.

Brown Butter cookies weren’t quite quite what I was expecting, but they were really quite good. Some of their options are a little too salty for me(they put sea salt on a lot of their regular cookies). For some reason, when I thought brown butter, I figured they’d be softer, but their main cookies(and top sellers) aren’t soft. They’ve an interesting texture — not bad, just unexpected/different. For me though, I ended up buying some snicker doodles and some lemon cookies which are larger and a little flatter. Most importantly, both the snicker doodles and lemon cookies are softer and less salted than the other cookie options. Both were great, I especially loved the lemon cookies. Would definitely stop by next time I’m driving up Highway 1 to grab some Lemon Cookies

«I pronounce these to be the best cookies that I have ever had.» (drops mic, walks off stage) Disclaimer– These are basically shortbread cookies. You have to be OK with that and the fact that they are smallish, crumbly in texture and can run more than a buck each in small quantities. The flavor of the Original cookie, however, if you like«savory» things like pralines, is absolutely amazing. Eat just one and you have had your desert for the day.
