THEGOOD: I ordered the Le Jardine sandwich. It was super yummy and unique. The potato chips were also delicious. My mom had the egg boat, which was delicious once heated up. Make sure to buy some of their homemade bread, which is also delicious! THEBAD: My nephew ordered the lobster roll. He said they were super skimpy on the lobster, so maybe pass on that. Pass on the caramels… they tasted too much like maple syrup. Something about them was just off. OVERALL: Overall, the food I had was super yummy and I would love to return to try more.

I love popping in here for a quick bite in the morning — enjoyed inside or outdoors in the garden. Their daily scrambles are delish, chai teas & coffee drinks are well made, & they usually have a G-F bread or pastry on hand, as well. We haven’t tried it for lunch, but the choices look fresh & creative. My only complaint: not open 7 days a week. I love this spot.

Paid $ 9 for the scramble that came with a small side of fruit. Wasn’t very flavorful and for the price should have included toast. My wife got the chicken and waffle. A bland and small affair that left her hungry. Overall this place is overpriced and doesn’t serve tasty food. We’ve been biking for miles and were hungry so any food for is would taste good, so for this to seem bland is really saying something.

Best lunch in town — & probably best breakfast too! We could probably eat here everyday! Every sandwich we’ve tried has been great! My hubby was disappointed with the fried chicken salad — basically an iceberg wedge with 2 tiny pieces of chicken — but otherwise we love everything here! The croissants are fantastic — both the filled & plain ones. For lunch, my favorite is the Pan American sandwich. My Hubby’s favorites are the Cuban/pulled pork one & fried chicken sandwich. They make great cookies too. My only complaints are that they are incredibly slow even when its completely empty & I’m not a fan of the new dutch crunch bread(but its OK bc I substitute a baguette & they are phenomenal!)

Update: This business has new owners who have just now significantly changed the menu and are updating the ambiance(as they did at Schooner’s Wharf). The new menu is still shaking out, but with a new emphasis on waffles. Many of the dishes I frequented this restaurant for have been removed from the menu. In any case Hoppe’s Café will require a new and updated review in time but will be very difficult to rate or review while changes are occurring. Update 2: They do have a scramble of the day on the menu. And Carol does an excellent job putting those together. Carol and Rob still make the best breakfast bar none. And the service is always top notch. Carol also makes the very best cookies in all of Cayucos. Hers are smaller and less expensive than those you’ll find at the Cookie Company. Hers do not come with the packaging but still beyond excellent and the place to eat breakfast in Cayucos in my opinion. All that is missing would be Peet’s loose tea and perhaps Yrba Mate along with some steeping pots. French Press would also be great. Carol also makes some excellent gluten free baked good offerings. With the scramble of the day, plus the cookies, and the ahi salad this is definitely a 5 star spot … in addition they do have that wonderful garden as a backdrop if you should decide to eat there. Amazing service and excellent, fresh, created daily offerings!

The cayubano and Blt sandwiches were fabulous! We picked salads instead of the chips and the field greens were perfect. We’ll be back!!!

Delightful café with an amazing garden seating area. We were lucky enough to get a private table in the secret garden… shhhh. Love that dogs are welcome and the food is yummy. Everything is priced well… meaning the price matches the portion. My scramble du jour was more expensive then the strawberry waffles and the portion was larger. All the food and coffee we ate was delicious. Met the owner, Hank as he was watering his beautiful gardens. He was a delight and was happy to talk to us. Deliciously quaint.

Even for a busy Saturday in this sleepy little town, we were able to snatch our own little secluded corner in the courtyard. We tried the BLT which seemed a bit more generous than other BLT sandwiches I have tried in other lunch spots.

One of the standard stops for a bike group. Everything has been A-ok here, the coffee and drink prices are on par with most other places($ 1.50 for a refill on coffee, $ 3 or so for mixed and special drinks) Mostly get the baked goods, which have been tasty. They have a couple gluten-free items, if that is your thing, and some tasty breakfast kitchen items(had a breakfast burrito once, it was a little pricey at $ 7 but it was good). The appeal here, beyond the average-good food and drink options, is the seating, which offers a number of little nooks and crannies so your party can actually get a secluded space. It is great for bigger groups and there is plenty of elbow room. The staff is generally quite friendly, smiling, and will even take a little back and forth from some crotchety bike bums. Well worth a stop in.

We enjoyed this place a lot. Very friendly and accommodating our dog. A nice patio in back. I realize it’s primarily a bakery but wished there were more breakfast options to choose from.

i used to go to this place everyday on my lunch break when they were open. HOWEVER, i bought a cinnamon roll, was almost finished with it when i found a dog hair in the middle that it had obviously been cooked with. almost threw up. went there again hoping their meals were cleaner than their baked goods, BUT, i once again found a dog hair in my deli sandwich. have not been back since. never thought much about the dog they let roam the place but now i’m disgusted. ew

As a local people always ask me what are the secret places in town, the tacos at this deli! Delicious… delicious… delicious the spicy chicken are an absolute must. The girls are always very friendly and helpful. The tacos are 99 cents for taco Tuesday. Lunch for around $ 3 can’t beat that.

I have been thinking about this bakery for the past 2 years and finally decided it was time to write a review. The bakery staff was very friendly, the garden in back is beautiful and the owner was a wonderful man to talk to. I was cycling down the coast from Seattle and stopped in here for an afternoon coffee. After chatting with a couple other patrons, the owner joined me outside and we had a good conversation about the history of the café and the adjacent restaurant. Before leaving, he gave me what would later turn into the best dessert I’ve ever had. When I arrived at camp with a bag of cookies that evening, I promptly grabbed a bottle of chocolate milk and drenched a bowl full of cookies with it. I dug in with a big spoon and have sense never forgotten that amazing moment. I’m glad to have finally taken a moment to thank you for that memory.

Lovely hidden garden courtyard setting. Sandwiches were wonderful, fresh and reasonably priced– the latter being the rare find. Debit/charge minimum $ 25. You will want to go back for the delicious bakery treats so be prepared. You’re welcomed as soon as you enter by the owner’s dog, Oboe. Very polite and sweet. Doesn’t know he/she’s wearing a sign saying«don’t feed me» though. We found this the last day of our stay. Wish we found it the first. Would’ve loved to have stopped here everyday.

Nice little place for a quick meal. We had breakfast here twice while staying in Cayucos in February. Delicious Strata, egg scrambles, good coffee. The staff was very friendly — you order at the counter first. We ate in the pretty patio in back, lovely with fountains and greenery. The owner stopped by to chat for a minute, and we were charmed by their little dog who wandered the patio politely hoping for a handout(which he doesn’t get because he wears a tag that says«please don’t feed me!»)

In need of a caffeine jolt, I found this tucked away gem on my last day in Cayucos. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, and the entire area smelled of the most incredible baked goodies. It was hard not to buy one of each, but we settled for a cinnamon bun. They warmed it up no problem, and gave us the largest cups for their Pete’s coffee brew. We sat in the beautiful garden area and enjoyed the chirping birds and adorable dog that ran around the property.

After lunching on the garden patio of Hoppe’s, we wandered to the bakery on the same property, a separate business. This review is more of a note to self for the future… next time in Cayucos, have breakfast or lunch here. After surveying the pastries, we decided to have 2 chocolate chip cookies for the ride home to Sierra Madre, knowing that the chips would become melty in the heat of the car. Very good cookies with bits of walnut. Overall, the appearance of the pastries exudes a lightness that captivates. Peet’s coffee available. Being a serious Peet’s fan, seeing Peet’s here is an immediate plus. Opening at 8 am, closing at 3 pm, then closed Monday and Tuesday. If I were staying overnight in Cayucos, 8 am is a little late for breakfast on a normal day. The menu posted above the pastry cases was easy to read. Seating is available outside in the immediate garden area. Or, if the weather permits, transport all the goodies to the nearby beach!

When The Smokehouse is too crowded, I mosey on over here for a sandwich and/or a pastry to quell my hunger. Great Peet’s Coffee, brewed fresh, and an interesting sandwich selection. We had the special, turkey and pepper jack cheese on a ciabatta roll with potato and sweet potato chips for $ 7.95. We also stocked up on a cinnamon roll, biscotti(lots), and a baguette of French bread. The French bread had a quite respectable chewiness to it, and the cinnamon roll was so good, it was mind altering. The prices are pushing it a bit, so only the trinity of stars. The peaceful garden has expanded over the years, and is an inviting place to watch the world go round.

Love this place because everything is fresh! Went to Cayucos on a little trip west from Paso Robles on long summer day, late in the afternoon. The chocolate chip muffins are ridiculous, best I’ve had in Central California. Though it’s also a bakery, the turkey sandwich seems to be the signature here — you get plate with salad and freshly sliced turkey and a pickle, really great meat! But it looks like they have a little bit of everything: pizza, pasta, breakfast burritos, pancakes, french toast, omelets, burgers; the menu is pretty extensive which is great when you are traveling with picky people! They must slow cook chicken or turkey in-house because the place smells like the best combination of a bakery and Grandma’s thanksgiving! It’s in a quirky little building with another restaurant, which looked like it was a landmark of some sort. I love these small beachside towns and visit them whenever I have the opportunity to take the 1 Freeway, rather than the 101. Definitely check this place out!
