Old Chicago Pizza & Pasta

Travis was great tonight. The food was very good I had the spaghetti pie. This is our top local restaurant. If you are in town you can not go wrong here.

I’m a frequent visitor of the Des Moines/​Ames area Old Chicago’s and a multi-​tour member for their mug club so I know what to expect at Old Chicago and what I am getting. I was visiting from out of town and decided to stop by for dinner. I wasn’t very impressed with the service I received while sitting at the bar.
Before I get into that I’ll hit the basics of the place. This OC is larger than any of the ones I have been in around Central Iowa. The bar area was much larger and there seemed to be more seating area. Of course TVs pretty much everywhere make this a good place to stop for a sports event.
They had two bartenders on this particular Friday night and the rail wasn’t totally packed yet it seemed really hard to get their attention. I get that they are filling drinks for both the rail and the servers but there were times when it seemed almost impossible to flag somebody down.
I placed an order for wings and their pretzel bites which is a small specialty app compared to their normal pretzel app which is larger and costs more. Seemed like it took a lot longer than normal for my food to come out. When it finally did I got my wings but instead of my pretzel bites they dropped off the bigger pretzel app instead. After I pointed it out they went ahead and took off the difference on my bill but I still wanted a side of the special beer cheese that comes with the pretzel bites app. After 10 minutes I finally got it only for it to be room temp. Very disappointing.
Not the best visit I’ve ever had to an Old Chicago. Hopefully its a fluke but based on some other reviews it seems to be a recurring issue here.

Bad Service is the theme in cedar falls & OC just keeps on giving you the best. Bartenders with attitude, careless waitstaff & poor management all add up to a very surreal (that’s strange for all you CFers) experience. But hey it’s a place to eat right CF?

Service was fine. Food was average, maybe slightly mediocre. I’ve had their pizza a few years ago and I remember it being decent. This time we ordered a burger, fries, garden salad & a calzone. My husband said the burger was ok. Fries seemed fresh & hot. My salad looked like it came out of a bag. Wilted iceberg lettuce & a few sorry looking pieces of tomato. My calzone was too doughy and could have used a little more cheese. Think we’ll stick with the pizza if we ever come back.

good place for deep dish pizza, u get ur money’s worth and its a good place to have a group of people dine in and have a few beers, they have a large variety of alcohol because of the «world beer tour» its pretty legit.
overall its a casual place for beers but a bit more upscale than just a bar and grill. they have t.v.‘s for sporting events, music genre are popular songs from 70s-​now.

Great Sunday specials in the bar area all day! $ 5 appetizers, $ 2.99 mini pizzas, pints for mug prices! Can’t beat it!

Good food, great beer. I went to watch the hockey game and my server turned three tv’s to the game for me. Very attentive service.

Always great food and service, especially in the bar area. Servers are friendly and helpful. It’s the only place to work on your beer tours!
