I was immediately greeted and helped. My needs were sought and met; no coercion or car salesman gimmicks. The store owner checked my gait and helped me find a shoe that corrected my gait, was comfortable, and a good price. He was most patient and friendly; I felt as if I could have tried on shoes for an hour and he would have been happy to continue helping. This is a model for local, small business.

The best place to come to get running shoes!
They go thru a complete analysis here. They have you run on a treadmill, while they video record you with a camera to analyze. They look at the way your feet move, and other things. This way, they find out the best pair of shoes for you based on support for your feet.
I was able to find that I need a pair of shoes with about medium cushion.
This is so much better then going to a place like Scheels because you don’t get the analysis there, so here you are sure to get the right item.
They have all the great brands too! I would recommend to anyone whether you be a professional athelthe or just looking to get into running.

I stopped in the other day, on my way to pick up some cupcakes at Scratch — I love running stores, after all.
This one was pretty nice, albeit pretty small. I didn’t need to make any purchases so I just looked around a bit.

I have had issues with my ankles since high school and was unable to find a pair of running shoes that didn’t hurt my feet. I am so thankful I was told to check out Runner’s Flat. They had me run on a treadmill and assessed my stride and posture. The sales people there were incredibly helpful and knew the answers to all of my random questions. Once they completed my evaluation, they explained to me why I might be having such ankle issues and provided me with more than one option that would help fix my stride. In the end, I ended up purchasing a $ 60 pair of running shoes that I have worn the crap out of. It was worth every penny. Not only were they helpful, but they didn’t suggest super expensive remedies that would put more money in their pocket– they were sincerely concerned about helping me out.

You can’t go wrong at The Runner’s Flat. Full gait analysis and sales staff that know what they are talking about. Owner is Scott Gall (sp), former olympian and his wife. Scott organizes many local runs and training camps.
You can rent shoe shoes here also!
Highly recommended.

Best running store around. Period. Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and they are super nice. Even if you are just starting with running/​walking/​being active, they get excited. The Galls are the greatest thing to happen to running in the Cedar Valley since… well ok, they’re the greatest thing that’s happened to running in the CV. The way they have 100% committed themselves to educating the buyer and supporting the local races, events, charities is a testiment to who they are as people. As business owners this is a place I go not out of «obligation» to support locals but because they are simply the best at what they do! My daughter still talks about watching Scott run past us in her 1st 5K then giving her knuckles after the race and taking the time to make her feel proud of her accomplishment. Again-​Kudos!

My wife and I went into The Runner’s Flat thinking that we were going to be treated like idiots that didn’t have a chance at successfully completing a 5K, quite the contrary. Part of the husband/​wife team that opened the store, Sarah, helped us select the proper shoes. It was not a point at a pair on the shelf experience. She had us walk in our socks, run in five-​six pairs of shoes on a treadmill while she studied our stride and gate. After it was said and done we were so happy. This is a rare gem in the shopping world. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND this store. We also recommend bringing a treat for their adorable little dog who takes holds the couch down.
