Brake Check

Had a complete brake replacement and service done and less than 6000 miles later on a family trip had to stop and have brake repair service done with another service company. When I returned home and took both their receipt and the other service companies receipt they had absolutely nothing too offer! Could care less! Please DO NOT take your vehicle here for any kind of service or lack there of!!!

actually no stars but it made me do one to give an update, I am still waiting on Corporate with my request for a full refund for such a horrible job, I am still having problems with my brakes making awful squeaking noises again… guess I will need to take the next step to getting this resolved, please do not take your vehicles to Brake check… you will regret it as I do…

This was my first and last time going here. Asked for an oil change and tire rotation. Given a quote for 6 quarts of oil, was called 5 mins later saying it takes 9. No big deal if that is true. Turns out a 2014 GMC sierra 1500 takes 8 quarts. So strike one. I asked to also have a tire rotation. Prior to leaving I removed the valve cap from my back rear tire. When I came back to retrieve my vehicle, back rear tire still had the cap removed. They didn’t rotate the tires. So I had to wait additional time for them to do the job right. Strike two. Get back in my truck to leave and one of my tires has 32 psi while the others have 38. The tires take 44. So they didnt check this either. Every oil change I have ever gotten, my psi is checked and adjusted. Strike 3. Oh and how much was the oil change? $ 95!!! $ 95 for awful work. Wish 0 stars was an option.

To give this place one star is to give them too much credit. My experience started back around the beginning of this year (2015), when I took my vehicle in for regular maintenance (i.e. pads, rotor resurface, etc). Of course upon taking my 2 year old vehicle into this location for regular maintenance, I was told I needed almost $ 500 in work done. I reluctantly agreed to letting them do the work.
A few months later I bought new tires from discount tires (btw-​great company in my experience) and upon pulling my old tires, the young man asked me to come outside to look at my axel and a broken part. He also pointed out that the incident had been «covered up» by pushing a cap back on an over tightened nut. I told him about the work I had done a few months prior, and he said it was most certainly those folks that had to be at fault, especially since I hadn’t had any other work done. I called brake check and they asked me to bring it in. I did.
After him hawing around about «we aren’t admitting guilt to this, but it might have been us», etc. I basically had to make them fix it. I remember walking up behind them in the shop while they were looking at it and whispering «I could just tell him…» I had to remind them that I had no other work done.
Flash forward 6 weeks — brakes are squeaking again, and since that $ 475 in work that was done earlier in the year was still under warranty, I decided to take the truck back (FYI — this is one way they get you coming back, along with their constant television advertising). When I arrived and the guys at brake check looked at the vehicle, they noticed that their replaced part was leaking, so I told them to replace it under warranty, but they also wanted to do ±$ 350 in additional work (this is another way they get you. You will never get out the door only completing warranty work. They ALWAYS find something else). I told them politely that I wouldn’t be doing the additional work and to only fix the part under warranty. They told me it would take around an hour, so I left it with them. It ended up taking them 4 days to replace one part. During this (4) days, the communication was terrible. I had to call them to request updates EACH AND EVERY TIME. They made every excuse in the book to explain how «it wasn’t their fault the car wasn’t ready.» They blamed their suppliers over and over again, and never once apologized to me (customer), or offered me anything to make the issue right, until of course I brought it up. And then, and only then, I was offered a small discount to allow them to keep my vehicle even longer and complete a lot of work that I found out later isn’t even necessary.
At the end of the day, I finally got my vehicle back and needless to say I wasn’t happy. While getting my receipt, I was prompted to answer «would you recommend brake check to friends and family?». I obviously selected «no», and the «corporate director» (fancy title for an apparent ex-​mechanic that climbed the ladder internally with ZERO business sense) who was there told me he’d call to try to rectify the situation. He never called! But, in his defense, he likely realized how terribly I’d been treated and figured I wouldn’t be back anyways. If this was his thinking, he would have been correct.
This place is unbelievably bad, but will continue to get business in my mind for of two reasons-​1. Constant advertising and 2. Location (they typically invest in visible booming areas).
PLEASE, DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE.
FYI — Garrett (old director) quit working for these guys. He was a respectable person.

Absolutely terrible service here. New management is in place and it has gone downhill. Brought my truck in for an oil change and these techs goof around 75% of the time they have your car up in the air. Asked for a rotation and that took over an hour. The manager will not look you in the eye. Man, I’m paying you for a service and yes, I have a choice of where to go. My choice is to never come back here again.

Gotta be one of the best auto shops I’ve ever been to. Team is clearly founded on the principles of honest and integrity.
I went to have the brakes changed on my 08 Civic SI, when Garrett (The Director, what other director actually gets their hands dirty?!) took off the wheels he told me I had a gold standard pad, which is a lifetime warranty pad by checker auto. He had one of his shop guys drive me up to checker to get the replacement pads for free. He could have easily been dishonest!
In terms of oil changes, never had a poor experience.
These guys know what they are doing and take you along every step of the way. I’ve been invited to go into the shop and watch them perform the maintenance on my car… What other auto shop does that!!!

Garrett and team always take care of me. Been in cedar park for 2 years and this is the only place I bring our cars.

This place will take full advantage of you anyway they can, it is all about finding ways to pad the bill. All I needed was to have my brakes checked because my brake light was on and the technician tried to charge me $ 800 for a problem that I was told would cause my brake system to completely stop working, trying to instill urgency and fear.(I have a 2011 car with less than 30,000 miles on it) I decided to hold off and speak with a trusted mechanic who confirmed they were just trying to rip me off and pad the bill by saying there was a leak that clearly did not exist. After having the brake fluid filled the brake light went off and weeks later all is working perfect with no leaking what so ever and I am completely disgusted by this place and would NEVER recommend it.

I brought my car in for an oil change it had 7400 miles on it. The «Corporate Director» Juan F. came out with my air filter and said it really needed to be replaced and he had to tell me because it couldn’t wait till my next oil change. He showed it to me and it didn’t look bad to me just had a little black streak on it. He said he made 3 phone calls to make sure they were the lowest price at $ 16 to replace the filter so I really didn’t think it looked bad to me but I thought since it was only $ 16 I would just do it, he said if it were his family member he would tell them to do it.
A little while later another employee came out and ask me if I lived in the country because there were chinaberries all in my air filter compartment. I said yes I do. He said he that there was a lot of them. I asked if he would remove them. He told me that he would have to take the cover off and it would be okay to leave them in there that it was no big deal and it was safe to drive like that he just wanted to tell me about it.
He acted like it was too much trouble to do. So I thought great! Now I have to find someone to do it.
When they were finished I left and went across the street to Target to buy groceries. After leaving Target I drove about 2 miles and my car started shaking then the dash lights came on then it died. I called Brake Check and about 20 min later Juan shows up, checks the oil then says its not their fault whatever is wrong. I asked about the Berries in the air filter, he had to call and ask how to get the cover off then when he opened it and pulled out the air filter I looked in and saw about 40 chinaberries at the bottom of the compartment. I said I bet that has something to do with whats wrong and he said he didn’t see how that could have caused it.
I had my car towed to the Dealer who said that one of the Chinaberries likely went thru the fuel injector and motor causing the problem. He also said it was way to early to need to change my air filter it wasn’t due till 30,000 miles not 7400 like Juan said. So I was without and car for two days. Juan stills says they are not responsible. I say these people are here to rip you off and they don’t know what they are doing Juan kept calling it my transmission. He called me the next day to say the dealer should fix it for free since it’s a new car. And continued to say that they were not responsible even though I asked them to get them out and they said it was ok to drive like that. Beware of this place!!!

Super nice — took me in close to closing time for an oil change. They were fast, comprehensive and even gave me a smiley face on the sticker. After a long day, it was an appreciated friendly touch! :-)
*** update *** at my next oil change, I was 4 quarts low with no leak to be found. Looks like brake check didn’t put the oil in. I want to believe this was an oversight because they were so nice, but I’ve been hearing more and more that oil is being skimped on to save money. Double check the dip stick before you leave! This discovery changed my rating from 5 stars to 3.

I went in for a oil change they wanted to do other services and said just want the oil change and it went on and on saying brakes were low needed a new filter and i just got a oil change. Then 3 months later i went to my friends shop and he said they striped the bolt off since they used a air wrench which it uses to much force to get the bolt on causing it to wear down i will never go there again nor ill recommend them as well
