Picked up dinner here on New Years a Day. Turkey and brisket with some sides. People were friendly and nice and the food was excellent. Good parking right outside. Clean facility and TVs had the college games on. I think I had been here before(several years prior) and that was also a good experience.

No salsa… Would not have stopped to get a taco if I knew they ran out of salsa. Service was way under par. Very disappointing.

Perfectly smoked bbq with really good side dishes! What can I say about Smokey Mo’s…it’s an Austin staple.

Wow, worst BBQ ever. Staff was friendly enought, and maybe I got there on a bad day, but the brisket was dry and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I ordered a family pack and asked for 1 lb of brisket and 1 lb of sausage. I got shorted on the lb of brisket at .95 lbs as I watched the meat cutter — not that big of a deal but when you’re paying $ 40 for BBQ you should get what you pay for. I live about 5 miles from the restaurant, and the brisket, sausage, and creamed corn were ice cold by the time I got home. Potato salad and cole slaw were good, but but you don’t go to a BBQ place for the sides.

Isn’t there a Rudy’s nearby? Oh, right — there’s not — which is why I ate here. Sorry, the BBQ competition is rough. I’ve eaten here a few times and every time the food has been good. They actually have a lot of options and every time I see that BBQ baked potato after I order and regret I didn’t try it. So, it’s pretty good BBQ, but not really any different from fast food BBQ that you can get anywhere. I’ll continue to go because it’s better than a fast food burger option and convenient — but if I have a hunger for great BBQ, this is not the BBQ choice I’m going to make.

We’ve ordered from here several times. First the food is always pretty good for a BBQ chain. It’s almost on par with Rudy’s. My big beef(see what I did there) is the wait times in line. Even when I call ahead to order I’m waiting for 15 – 20 minutes just to pay and get my food. The layout of the ordering window and cashier couldn’t be much less efficient. There ends up this crowd of people waiting for food that you have to push through to get to the cash register. This is a common problem at Smokey Mo’s locations I’ve been through, and it is a bit better than some of their smaller locations but not much.

Today was my first time visiting this place. I ordered 2 breakfast tacos: bacon, egg, and cheese and sausage egg and cheese. Both were good. However, the sausage, egg, and cheese was the best. I’m sure I will visit this place again. Update: Today I tried their lunch for the first time. I ordered the baby back ribs with potato salad and corn on the cob with a side of sausage. The ribs were very dry, but everything else was okay. I will just stick with their sausage, egg, and cheese tacos.

Up a star — the service at this location of Smokey Mo’s is amazingly good. Friendly people who remember your name with a smile. The BBQ is very good. I’m a fan of the Chopped Baker, a *huge* baked potato with chopped BBQ beef loaded with cheese, onions, butter and sour cream(yes, a guilty pleasure). The salads are surprisingly good, too. And I think the turkey is better than Franklin’s(yep…I said it). Much love to all of the kind souls feeding a hungry world(or at least, a hungry Cedar Park) at Smokey Mo’s on Cypress Creek.

Friendly service, pretty good bbq. We got the combo plate with brisket, chicken, and ribs. The brisket was too lean, too plain, and lacked flavor. Chicken was good– moist, well cooked and well flavored. Ribs were not the best but solid. Better than dickeys but not quite rudys level.

First of all the positive. I asked for cutters choice with some burnt ends. that’s exactly what I got. It was very good. the brisket was moist. now for the negative part. ordered a half a pound of brisket. I received well less than that amount. the meat cutter was working with a little piece of brisket, it didn’t seem like he wanted to go over and get another big brisket out. it was right before closing. he was literally scraping the cutting board and putting it on my plate trying to get it to half a pound. I had a long day at work I was tired and at the time I didn’t care. but now that I think about it, for that half a pound of brisket and a small drink I paid over $ 11. by the look on the Meat Cutters face he knew he shorted me. I take fault in this whole thing by not saying something right away. but at the same time give me what I want. I probably won’t go back.

Stopped in for a sandwich before going to the Cedar Park Center. First timer so I didn’t know what to expect but was craving some moist brisket. I ended up getting 2 sandwiches. A moist brisket and also a sausage sandwich. Brisket was very tender and moist. I took a piece out of the sandwich to taste it and it easily came apart and it was very flavorful. I got the jalapeño sausage to which it was good but not very spicy to me. There was a couple of people in front of me waiting to order and overall it didn’t take long to order and then pay. I didn’t mind the wait as I was still contemplating what to order. It took about 5 minutes to get my sandwiches but probably would have got them sooner as the person in front of me ordered a large family pack to go. No big deal that’s just how it goes. I did like that you can get as much pickle, onion and bread as you want from the bar. I didn’t need the bread though. So my only complaint would be I’m a diet coke fan and they serve pepsi products. My 2nd favorite drink is tea to which they offer sweet and unsweetened. Again, that’s just how it goes. I will return!

We go here over Rudy’s only bc of location/convenience. Brisket seems to always be dry even when I indicate moist. Fried okra is good. The line is always the worst. You walk in and see 2 people in front. It’ll take 10mins just to get your order. They always seem to be understaffed. Doesn’t matter when I come. Trying to take it to go? Expect 20mins easy before you get your food. Seems like if they were properly staffed and paid a little more attention to quality they’d make a killing at this location.

Pretty good barbecue. Proximity to my house helps. The brisket was dry(and I even intentionally ordered moist, making me wonder what in the world they consider dry). Maybe they just messed up. The pinto beans were surprisingly good, and the cole slaw was pretty good too. The ribs were very good for a chain, though the sauce is a bit too thick for my tastes. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of tables, and I applaud them for supporting the local baseball fields, etc.

Grat smoky smell as soon as you walk in. Meats were moist, the sauce was slightly peppery. I had the pork loin and the brisket. I would definitely come back again. And the service was awesome.

Normally I would go to the Smokey Mo’s on 183 and 1431 but I was in this area and hungry. This location has a larger dining area which can fit 60 people instead of just 20. This also reflects on the Fixin bar where they have the pickles and onions and plastic wear. The order line is to the left(better layout that the other location.) The day I came turns out this location had three large to go orders in addition to the walk ins. There were four workers handling both walk in’s and the To Go’s. Rather unsuccessfully, I might add. There were twelve people in front of me and it took 45 minutes to get my food. Not acceptable. One workers was in the back heating the meats and sides. Another was cutting the meats. He sliced about 3 pounds for a To Go order then cut enough for the next 3 walk in diners then back to the To Go orders. Third workers was getting large plastics bags of the creamed corn, opening them, pour into the bins, then scooping into To Go containers. Fourth guy was taking the walk in orders, wrapping the To Go meats, and put sides on the walk in orders plates. If you know you have large To Go orders, bring in extra staff to help. The food was a Baby back rib platter. The ribs were great and the sides just okay.

Just the same old every day BBQ. Would give it 3 or 4 stars if it was better organized regarding the ordering system. The customer service is sub par and the GM couldn’t care less.

The homemade creamed corn is to die for. I’ve been eating at their various locations for years(Liberty Hill, Leander and Cedar Park). I understand recession, price increases, etc., but charging more for less takes away from the experience. We’ve been to this location a few times and my boyfriend refuses to go back. He ordered combo plate with fries and beans. He literally had 10 battered french fries on his plate. The 3 times we went with me his sides were smaller and smaller. To him this was catastrophic. He complained the entire meal and keep referring to the serving size at the Leander location, which he claimed provided a true Texas size serving. He’s right, They can’t really cheat you on a chicken plate(½ a chicken with 2 sides) but they can really cut back on the portions of the sides. It’s not all about the boyfriend’s 10 fries. This particular location doesn’t seem to have the same quality of food or service. We seem to be much happier when we visit the Liberty Hill location or Leander one. The people seem a lot happier.

It’s Texas. BBQ is supposed to be amazing here. Considering there are 4 and 5 star BBQ joints in orbit around Austin and places like Stiles Switch which I rated 3 stars inside Austin 2 stars is all I can muster for Smokey Mo’s. They aren’t bad but they aren’t very good either. «Meh I’ve experienced better» is a pretty accurate description. It’s all relative right? I don’t usually frequent 2 star restaurants but I’ll go to Smokey Mo’s every now and again. I can’t always drive 40+ minutes to get the outstanding BBQ and Smokey Mo’s is in my neighborhood. The brisket is not very inspiring. It’s a little on the dry side and not smokey. The sausage is very average. The turkey and pork loin are actually pretty good. The beans are all right. Potato salad is reminiscent of what you can buy in a tub at HEB. The slaw is a nondescript slaw. I’ve had a burger here and it’s cooked fresh to order and more noteworthy than the BBQ. The French fries are a disaster as they are breaded. Not sure why so many restaurants in Cedar Park serve this breaded potato abomination but they do. They must all buy from a supplier that really pushes this stuff. One complaint I have about this place is that the food is dispensed at the register area which creates a real bottle neck at busy times. A small 5×5 area gets pretty full of patrons paying and picking up orders in pretty tight quarters. They need to figure out a way to distribute the food separate from the payment area.

Brisket is dry Turkey is dry Sausage is good but you really can’t over cook sausage because its so fatty. Butter potatoes — bland Fried okra — good The meat is overcooked and requires lots of BBQ sauce to choke it down Purchased a family pack for 26.95 and feel that i could have easily gotten better food for that price else where(Rudys, Poke-E-Joes)

Here is the deal get the pork loin… you wont be sorry. I like most of the meat items at this restaurant. I’ve never been a fan of the side items but honestly when it comes to BBQ joints I rarely ever do. I have visited more then 2 of their locations and what I really really love is that they are consistent. The brisket wrap at one location is going to taste like the same item at one of the other locations. Oh one more thing, my daughter always seems to get a burger no matter where I take her and she loved the one served here.(it was large as well)
