This place changed ownership and is now called Culata. My fiancé is Dominican and we were excited to find a place with Dominican food. It was a recipe passed down from the previous owner who was Dominican. The beans were not like the habichuelas we are used to. It was nice to have a small taste of his home though.

If you enjoy Chinese or Dominican without all the MSG, soy sauce, sodium crap but still want a tasty dish, healthy choices is that place. Reasonably priced and good portions combined with great flavors! This place is boooooooombbb!

Ehh. Not that healthy and not that many choices. I’m a healthy eater, so I kinda have an issue with a place called«healthy choices» where half the entrees have red meat. Only one vegetarian option. It was just okay.

I tried Healthy Choices on a whim for lunch today and it was fanTAStic! I ordered the marinated chicken, rice and bean bowl. Looking at it, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It could have been really bland and underwhelming. It was actually perfectly seasoned, nothing too«over the top» and it was definitely not flavorless either. I really, really liked it. Their menu might seem limited, but really I don’t think it’s too bad! They have a lot of stir fry dishes with chicken or beef. The«healthy» part of the name probably comes from their no msg, no artifical anything concept. It’s not a RAW restaurant or anything, but skipping the sugar, MSG, etc etc has its benefits! I have never eaten in the«food court» for the 4ish years that I’ve worked downtown, but Healthy Choices got me in the door and will certainly get my repeat business in the future. Super yummy, reasonably priced($ 6.50 for lunch bowl), and friendly staff.

Just amazing. And prepared by an authentic Dominican!
