China Inn is a great place if you work downtown and would like a good hot meal delivered to you. They are always friendly and the food is consistently good. My favorite dishes are the steamed pot stickers and the lo mein.

very bland. General Gau’s had NO sauce. Just not very good. The owner seems nice. Just wish the food was better.

Hit or miss. Sometimes food is decent but sometimes they are lazy and it is crap. Nonetheless last night I ordered a meal and there was a very hard object in it. Not edible. I have no clue what is was. See pic. It might have need wood.

After trying several different entrees I’ve decided to scratch this restaurant off my list of possible destinations. The portion sizes are small, which would be fine if the food were really good but it’s below average. Scarce and tiny little bits of meat seems to be their trademark. Even their rice is the cheap, broken grain variety. My advice is go another two blocks to the Hy-Vee Chinese Express and get their $ 4.99 lunch special. You’ll get a better quality lunch for less cabbage.

Dirty. Delicious. On the level. You want Chinese food? Go to China. This is the American Chinese food place that you love to go to and they never remember your name. Online delivery system works great. I love this place. If I dont see at least four Mexicans working in the kitchen under one angry Chinese guy, I’ve walked into the wrong place. Don’t bring a date just your appetite.

China Inn is one of those places that you usually see in a strip Mall that prepares mediocre tasteless substandard imitations of Chinese food. China Inn however takes the bland Chinese cheapfest one step above the rest. If you are selective, you will find many dishes that are very good. The vegetables and meat dishes are usually fine but I would avoid the breaded pork and chicken dishes. Like most cheap chinese take-outs and buffets, the meat is hard to find amidst the oil soaked breading. The Moo Shu dishes are very good as is the lo Mein, and their Egg Foo Young is very good as well. On some days the dishes are prepared better than on others. I think it all depends who is on the woks in the kitchen. Sometimes the spices are either too little or missing altogether making for bland tastes. The low prices however make China Inn a real bargain if you select right, you won’t be disappointed.

By far my favorite in Cedar Rapids if want some fast eatable Chinese food. Lunch price is really good: $ 5.25 includes an entrée with chicken fried rice and a can of soda. The downtown location is also convenient. Staff is friendly but sometimes I found it hard to understand the guy when placing order over the phone. Otherwise a great Chinese fast food restaurant, definitely recommend it over Panda Express and some other surrounding asian restaurants.

LOVE the food here! Sweet and Sour chicken is great, and the Crab Rangoon are even better! They have a small eat in area too, although it is quite loud in the restaurant. They do deliever in Cedar Rapids!
