I felt obligated to give this place 5 stars since I am staring down the barrel of the owner’s Glock. I agree that I should not have broken into this place at 4:00AM, but I did not expect anyone to be here. When I was in earlier to case the joint, I was impressed by how indifferent the girls working there could be to customers, and still have a job. The food must be forgettable, since they forgot to actually put in my order. The drinks are pricy, but they make up for it by pouring very stingy drinks. I was told that the girls are the hottest bartenders in Cedar Rapids. By hot, they must have meant sweaty. Maybe these girls are hot by Iowa standards? The police are here, I must go. I’ll be back in 5 – 10 years to check their progress… perhaps the food will be ready by then. All joking aside, I love this place. I am here 2 – 3 times a week. sometimes 2 – 3 times a day. I consider the bartenders/servers/kitchen like family. Best wings in town, and great breakfast options. You will enjoy this place as much as I do, I suspect.

The food is excellent and the beer menu quite respectable.(I ordered a burger, fries and a draft beer and was quite pleased with all three, including with the portions.) The only downside here is that it can be a pain in the butt to get served; I ate lunch right at the counter and there were 3 bartenders, maybe a dozen customers in the house. Nonetheless, they chatted near the kitchen and actively avoided my attempts at eye contact when I’d been sitting for ten minutes and trying to order. They seemed quicker with the regulars and complained openly about their low wages. I’m sympathetic to the crappy laws allowing for serving staff to be grossly underpaid, so I tipped generously anyway, but it’s annoying when as a paying customer you have to wait for the attention of staff who are visibly putting off talking to you. Four stars for location, food quality, bar quality and ambience. The missing fifth star, unfortunately, is for service. The prices are a couple dollars steep, but that is probably owing to this place’s premium location downtown and the correspondingly high rent they probably pay. If you aren’t going here all the time, it shouldn’t set you back much more than your typical bar tab.

If i could give this place no stars i would have, took about 10min to get our drink order, then about another 10min to get our food order, then the waitress lost our order, so she came back to get it again, mind you we have a little one with us who is hungry, 25 minutes later no food, paid our drink order and left, needless to say im from out of town but i would never come back to this place, maybe they dont like hispanics??? Oh well.

Red’s is an okay bar. Crowded, good for a cheap beer and some unexpectedly good bar food. But again I say get a beer. Do not expect a nice cocktail. I ordered an old fashioned here and the bartender told me she’d have to google it. I’ll give her a lot of credit for trying and being very personable while trying. But come on, train your bartenders on basic cocktails. Cheesy fries are tasty, and the staff are all very friendly.

Fantastic local spot to grab a great breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were top notch. There is an added bonus… wait staff is an absolute smoke show. Not what you expect when you go for an early morning breakfast. But, nobody would complain. They are good servers too — so that’s good.

Unfortunately I didn’t stay long enough to try any of the food. Sat down at the bar and waited 15 minutes. No one came up to ask if I wanted drink or food but the bar back and servers proceed to talk to eachother behind the bar and act as if they had nothing to do. So I left and went next door to la cantina where I got fast, exceptional service! Pub or not you still pay people to provide service so do that.

The bartender was incredibly friendly. The sweet potato fries some of the best I’ve ever had. Pretty good beer selection. My burger was this custom concoction of the spud burger but with an egg added on top. Hash browns, bacon, egg… Breakfast, meet dinner. Dinner, breakfast. Such a win.

I used to stop here for breakfast after the graveyard shift. The atmosphere in the morning is nice and quiet with a little noise for the cars on the street, good place to relax after a 12 hour shift. Good food and many different beer choices. Employees are nice and attentive.

Best breakfast in Cedar Rapids! I’m a huge fan of the quesadilla. They have a great beer selection and great bloodies to boot.

pretty standard bar, though i give them credit for having a sweet potato beer on tap which was pretty great, other than that just the typical atmosphere/selection

Stopped in for a bite to eat this morning while my car was being serviced downtown. Menu and prices were decent, the food was awesome! Had scrambled eggs and a HUGE pancake. If anything the place is a little«divey» but if you can get past that, I would strongly recommend it for a very satisfying breakfast.

One of my favorite stops for breakfast in the morning or drinks in the afternoon. Their Sunday Bloody Mary bar is pretty nice too. We stop here often when riding the bike trail through town.

Met some friends for lunch. Felt rushed into ordering. Ordered the Monti Cristo. Not again. French toast with meat in the middle. The others ordered wraps. They looked awesome

We hit Red’s for lunch once or twice a week. I almost always try the special as it’s always great. One of the better Rubens in town and great flatbreads. Atmosphere and staff are outstanding. Best place to hit downtown for a tasty casual lunch

The amount of people settling in and hanging out here for the night is hit or miss, but the flow of people coming and going is fairly consistent given the location. I’ve only been here on Friday nights, and the crowd is pretty diverse. You’ll find an Interesting mix of a more mature college kids, young professionals, and 30-somes still looking to have a good time. One things for sure, the drinks are made well and you can relax with a great mix of music. Red’s is quickly becoming my go to spot for a generally fun night out.

Very good bar food joint. The service is very good, the food is very good, you will not be disappointed by visiting Reds. My personal favorite is the fajita chicken salad.

Went there for the 1st time 8÷13÷2014. 1PM for lunch meeting a date… sat there 30 min waiting for service. They had already brought me a date was there on her lunch break. After 30 min waiting for sombody to take our order… I had to get up and ask if we could get something to eat. There were only 6 or 7 people in the place. About 5 servers… She ordered a Cesar salad… wich came quickly… and a Ruben… Salad…appeared to have been just drizzeled with bottled Cesar dressing. She was happy… that’s cool. But it had tomatos in it? Ruben.Small.They used a dark Pumpernickle/Jewish Rye bread. I prefer just the hard Jewish Rye… but she was hapy. I ordered the three cheese Quesadillas… full of cheese.Nice.Served with sour cream and salsa. Sour cream-good.Salsa.out of a jar… what do you expect. Not bad… I would buy it. But I would have to mince some fresh Cilantro and either put it in the store bought salsa… and let it marinate over night… but I LOVE Cilantro. Or have some fresh minced Cilantro on hande to put inside the Quesadillas… that would have been AWESOME. Prices are not bad at that hour. I noticed the signs on the wall and I would not go there at night. Not really their fault. Right in the middle of downtown… their rent has to be a BITCH! :-) I would still go back and check out some other stuff. Their staff needs some pointers…

Every time I stop by they raise the bar. Even late night drunken jerks get served and handled properly in a way that gives the average guy a smile. Once a week visitors get remembered and outside of a busy weekend night you’ll get great n fast service. If you see my check-in status you’ll know I stick with places that give me a good vibe after a few visits and red’s doesn’t disappoint. latest kitchen in the downtown area and some really fantastic staff. Worth it on a weekday and a packed house in the weekend. Twenty dollars for a nice night abd beers on hand not available anywhere else.

I eat at Red’s several times a month for lunch and sometimes go there for a drink on the weekends. The food is what you might call«high end bar food» with some great takes on classic items. The menu is a bit big with a ton of choices however in this case quantity does not impact quality. There is limited seating so you may end up eating at the bar, which I don’t mind. Overall a very nice place to spend some time relaxing. They also serve 25 oz. cans of beer if that’s your thing :).
