The food descriptions on the menu looked good, but the three things we tried were absolutely horrible. We ordered the burger and were informed it only came medium well because they were pre-prepared from the left over ends from the house cut steaks and frozen. I should have said just forget it, but I thought I’d give it a try. It wasn’t the level of doneness that ruined this burger; it was the fake charcoal smoke flavor and the cheap bun. Next was the brie flatbread. There was brie on that? Tasted like storebought flatbread. Not quite sure what the brown globs squirted on top of it were. Sad to say, this was the best of the three dishes. The worst– the mushroom risotto. I would believe if someone told me it was from a microwave bag. It had an odd fake soy flavor to it. Our bread was brought to the table after all our food arrived. I would have preferred it while we were waiting, which I thought was a tiny bit too long considering what we ordered and that we told our server to bring out the dishes as they were ready. We tried it because that what good fake food critics do. The bread was OK but the«butter» was odd. Had a sweet twist to it, which is unexpected, yet OK; but tasted like it was that 50⁄50 butter/spread mix. On the bright side, the atmosphere was nice and the place was clean. Service was mediocre, but acceptable. Normally I don’t rush home and write a review, but what prompted me was the fact that both my dining partner and I have nasty churning stomachs(that’s describing it nicely) and I don’t believe it’s food poisoning– just really bad ingredients. For a restaurant that touts sourcing locally, nothing tasted fresh. I would not return here or recommend it to anyone else.

One of the best steaks I have had in a long long time. Better than Pine Club, and cheaper. They have other good items on the menu that I will have to go back and try. Very good main courses, excellent sides, prepared properly. Good pour on the drinks and excellent wine selection. Dessert looked amazing, but since I can’t eat gluten, had to steer away from the bread pudding… but oh how I wanted to just give it a try. Everyone else loved it.

A heavenly treat awaited me when I just happened upon Savona’s. I actually passed by 3 other possibilities for dinner on a Wednesday night around 7pm and decided against them because their parking lots were just too packed and I was hungry now, right now. I at first drove by this restaurant and it caught my eye. I could peak inside and see dim lighting and the outside sign has the word«wine» on it. Plus, the parking lot was not overly packed. Hmmm… curb appeal. I turned around and headed here and am so glad I did. The ambiance and décor were soothing and my server was knowledgeable and attentive. From other reviews in which service was lacking in some regard, I assure you my server, Anna, and chef/owner Keith Taylor did not dissapoint me. The special of the day was a gigantic thick pork chop that was the essence of moist and scrumptious. It came with a mild mustard sauce that was not overpowering and a medley of vegetables underneath the chop. With some wine and bread, my meal came to about $ 36 before tip and I deem it very much worth it. In addition, a plus in my book, Anna informed me that they try to buy local as much as possible. I’m a big advocate of supporting my local merchants and respect a venue which does the same.

I was excited to have dinner here this past weekend, however, we were very disappointed. After we ordered, the waitress was not very attentive and almost rude. We had ordered an app, two salads and an entrée to split along with a bottle of wine. We could only assume it was because we only ordered one entrée, however our bill was still in the $ 90 range. She shouldn’t have been too upset. She also did not inform us of the special of the dinner, with two entrees you received a flourless chocolate cake. We only discovered this when you told the older couple next to us. We happened to order the cake after dinner and had to pay $ 6 for it, which it was not worth. It seemed to be a flourless chocolate cake that had been defrosted, could have come from Trader Joe’s. The lobster ravioli were not good. When we cut into them they smelled and tasted fishy. This was a first for me. I was very surprised since the website says they fly in ‘fresh’ seafood and it is ‘carefully inspected’. After we received our salads the waitress did not ask if we wanted fresh ground pepper, we thought maybe they didn’t have a grinder, but then saw her walk by to another table with it. She did not come back to our table until our main course came out. We asked for ketchup for our fries(we ordered the Vermont cheddar burger; it was okay); and she did not come back for another 15mins with the ketchup. She then did not refill our water glasses for another 15 mins, which were bone dry. That would have been okay, but we had finished our bottle of wine and did not even get a chance to order another beverage, nor were we asked if we wanted another. The only thing we did enjoy was our wine, which makes sense since the restaurant couldn’t tamper with it. All in all, this place was very disappointing and we will never be returning. Also wanted to add that the place wasn’t that busy, so the wait-staff has no excuse for the terrible terrible service with attitude.

I called for a reservation and was told there were none available but my buddy called after me and got a reservation for the same time I asked about. We walked in and they had several open tables, they did fill up after about a half hour. We enjoyed the flat bread app’s and wine. Our waitress was a little unorganized but the entrees were good, but nothing special. The chocolate cake was amazing. We ended the night waiting for the hostess then just having to get our coats from the coat room ourselves. Thus the 3 stars. In all we liked the experience and we’ll continue supporting local busineses.

We enjoyed the evening with friends and had another great meal with great service at a reasonable price. I had the beet salad and the Marguerita Flatbread Pizza! with a sip or two of Makers Mark and went home happy. This was our second visit and there will be more.

Terrible experience and bland food. Our service for the price we paid was unacceptable and frankly rude. I will never go back there. Won’t matter b/c it was pretty empty for saturday night, they obviously are not attractiing customers and I’m pretty baffled by all these glowing reviews, perhaps they are used to Burger King, but I expect better service at a $ 50 a head dinner.

We have been driving past Savana for a long time now, and the warm glow of their windows in the dark has always been incredibly inviting. We finally went tonight and the interior did not disappoint. It was warm and dimly lit in the way that makes conversations feel more intimate and cozy, the chairs were so comfortable that we actually discussed how happy our butts were– not a conversation we have ever had! We started our 4th wedding anniversary dinner tonight with their Artisan Pepperoni Flat bread, which was very good(although in my mind a flat bread pizza provokes the image of a crispy crust, and this was a slightly chewier variety). We also asked for the Gnocchi which had been raved about in a previous review and oddly they were out of it even though it was 7pm and they had only been open for 2 hours. We ordered the Ahi Nachos instead which were very good. As a main course I ordered their Signature Sausage Pasta and it was awesome! There is no way to say this and still pull off«dainty», so I will just say it– I love sausage, I am a sucker for anything on a menu that contains sausage and usually I am slightly disappointed in the taste or texture or both. This sausage had wonderful flavor and was very juicy without being overly fatty. The sauce was spicy and delicious… I ate every little bit of it, leaving no room for dessert. My husband, however, did not love his entrée. He ordered the Vermont Cheddar Burger, the waitress did not ask how he wanted it done, and my husband forgot to say, so when it came to him it was well done and slightly dry. He felt like the caramelized onions weren’t caramelized enough and that the black pepper aioli was not peppery enough. The only part of his dish that I tried were the fries and they were very yummy. I’m not convinced that my husband will be excited to return, but I know I will.

I’m usually a little leery about new foods especially out of my comfort zone, but a friend wanted to go for her milestone birthday. I had a small plate(which was more than plenty) of the meatball risotto. It was delicious! For dessert I had a mousse dish which wasn’t on the menu. Not the best mousse I’ve ever had, but it was good. I would recommend reservations. It’s not a terribly big place which makes it seem very intimate and made me feel like I was getting the right amount of attention. If you don’t have a reservation, you might not be eating there.

There with a friend from Italy. Took five minutes to greet us even though very few tables were occupied. When we asked if they had high chairs, we were brushed off. Not only do they not have high chairs, but they actually do not welcome children. Food was only passable(and mostly lukewarm), and not what you expect from a place that hypes itself as one of the area’s better restaurants. The waitress even corrected my friend’s pronunciation of Italian words with her Americanized ignorance of the language. Will not return, and have since heard similar bad reviews from other friends who have only visited once.

There are 2 things that make or break my dining experience — the food and the service. Savona gets 5 stars on both counts. The restaurant was recommended to us with the caveat that the small plates were really good while the main plates were just ‘OK.’ With that in mind we ordered 3 small plates, 2 mains, and a dessert to share, all with a bottle of the house Merlot. Our waitress, Kristen, was extremely helpful and spaced out our small plates so our table wasn’t crowded and we could enjoy each one. We decided to leave a small bit of each dish to take home to have later and she boxed each one up after each service with notes written on each box, including ‘Midnight snack’ and the date. We had the calamari, which was good but not outstanding. The beet and goat cheese salad was delicious with a wonderful slab of breaded goat’s cheese, but the treat was the gnocchi. After having what I thought was the best gnocchi I’d ever eat whilst in Rome, I was corrected. This gnocchi tasted like melted butter and garlic and now takes its place as the best gnocchi Ive ever had.(It was difficult to leave our midnight snack portion!) For the main, we had the Duck Carbonara which was served with farfalle, applewood smoked bacon(which tasted more like rich pancetta) and peas. There was plenty of duck meat unlike many duck dishes which serve small amounts of meat hidden in heavy accompaniments. The dry aged sirloin was sold out, so the filet mignon was ordered instead. It was cooked well and the celery root potato gratin was a spiced perfectly. The house Merlot was not overly heavy and would be a good match with most choices on the menu. For dessert, the banana bread pudding was not overly sweet and well paired with a rosé moscato suggested by our server.

Stopped by last night to pick up a gift cert for a buddy — ended up having a couple glasses of wine and some apps — worse things have happened right? A nice guy at the bar bought us a glass and we decided to stay and have a light dinner — Savona salad, Caprese Tower, and the featured Mac and Cheese were great. A Spanish Tempranillo/Merlot blend was a nice compliment to everything. Overall a great place to get sidetracked and enjoy good company.
