We loved Umaya Ramen. We’d probably been there about 15 times in total as our go-to late night ramen and wings spot. Never had any issues whatsoever until tonight when we found out why they have a B in the window. In my girlfriend’s side of chashu, sure enough, there was a wriggling insect like a fly or a worm. It was pretty small but still nasty! We told our waitress, who was very efficient and helpful up until that point. All that was said was, «Oh! Sorry!» And came back with a new side of chashu. Pretty much any restaurant ever would have given us one meal if not all of our meal for free, but not here! Don’t think we’ll be returning after this off-putting visit. They apparently got an A on a recent health inspection… I’m not too convinced as this was after that June 16th2016 date…

My new favorite ramen place. I’ve been to Cerritos mall so many times and I never notice there was a ramen place near the mall… The fried Oreos was so good … Can’t wait to go back!

First time I came here I would have gave it 4 stars food and service was great. Second time food and service wasnt good as the first time(2 stars), maybe they were having an off day. Also the health rating dropped to a «B». The first time wife and I had the Ramen and it was good. The second time I had the Ramen(good but not good as the first time) and my wife had the Yakisoba. She said the Yakisoba was horrible, I tried a little bit of it and it tasked sour.

Great service, thought we tried out this ramen place. It wasn’t the best, but out of three ramen places so far, I ranked this second. Really liked the butter corn. And I had the spicy house ramen. It was pretty good. The pork was kind of over cooked to the point of it not being as enjoyable to each because it just felt very mushy. The soap was good, the noodle was good and it was spicy enough though they can make it spicier if you like. Free refills on the sodas so that was good! Four stars for the good customer service!

So today l came in with my best friend just now. She recommended this place and it would be my first time. My bestie suggested the Umaya House Special which comes with a free topping if l checked in. Our server was Kathleen and she was super nice to us. As my best friend was freshening up, miss Kathleen provided great customer service as l looked at their menu. Once l placed my order, l chose tofu as my free topping! Thank you Mr Billy for preparing our food. It was truly an experience and the ramen was delicious! l left not feeling overly full or still wanting to eat. Great job you guys. I’ll be coming back again for sure!

Ok Umaya ramen is way better than the spicy miso ramen. The main problem is how bland and uneventful the starters are. They just lack salt, spice, flavor, oomph. They taste Americanized. Would hit for just the umaya ramen otherwise pass.

Based on their name, you would think I would’ve gotten Ramen or some other dish. However, it was a pretty darn hot and sunny afternoon at the 626 Night Market. They banner caught my eye — they sold Watermelon Chamango and Strawberry/Lychee Infused Tea. Both were really refreshing and tasty. For $ 5 each, its a bit overpriced but everything was at the Night Market. At least the drink lasted me a while!

MAINTHING — CHECKINFORONEFREETOPPINGOFYOURCHOICE I wish I knew this LOL I always forget to check in until the end of my meal): such an amateur Came here w the boyf and friend for a catch up dinner. Of course the game was playing and their focus was obviously elsewhere but that’s cool haha It was the boy’s first time at ramen so I ordered him the chicken shoyu ramen w the additional chicken teriyaki bowl on the side. He said it was good but didn’t really fill him up so I guess we won’t be having ramen together I ordered the tonkatsu black ramen but it didn’t look like it /: I didn’t wanna say anything but enjoyed it anyways. It was good and I also added the buttered corn. Always they have the option of the standard noodles or thinner noodles! I went w the thinner noodles and it was a great choice I quickly skimmed the appetizers and I didn’t pay attention to the happy hour menu since I didn’t come around that time. But it’s only a $ 1 off during the time and the menu includes the rest of the appetizers for the day. Maybe it shouldn’t be like that cause that was confusing. I would’ve loved the chicken karage or takoyaki. Maybe next time!

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend. The restaurant was empty when we came in and had a funky smell, felt pretty hesitant at that point. However, the server was nice and the ramen was actually pretty good. I got the spicy miso. The reason I’m giving it three stars is because I got food poisoning after eating here, and I saw another Unilocaler who mentioned that she felt sick after eating here. If your stomach is weak like mine, maybe stay away?

First time having Ramen here and it was very flavorful, I had the umaya Ramen bowl. Pork broth with sliced pork belly, very well cooked, the seasoned egg was a delight, but the glazed pork belly is a must so soft and succulent it will leave you wanting more. Kathleen is a great sever she explained the menu well and answered my questions regarding the origin of the fusion Ramen dishes. you got to try this place at least once.

My 1st time here. Was looking for a good ramen restaurant near home and the wife found this on Unilocal,so we gave it a shot. So let’s jump right to it… We ordered the Gyoza for a starter and was extremely pleased. She loves Gyoza and the last time we had some from another place we were extremely upset. But this time it was perfect. I ate 2 before I even realized it. Extremely well flavored. And the sauces that come with it compliments very well. Now let’s get to the ramen… we both ordered the Umaya Ramen since it was the house favorite and we had never been here before. We both denied the ginger cuz we aren’t really into ginger like that. We also need added the glazed pork belly on the side. Everything was amazing. The noodle was cooked perfectly in my opinion, the ground pork added a great flavor to the already amazing pork broth. The flavor was rich but overpowering with a hint of mildness. We also added scallions and the cut of the scallion was thin as well the mushroom which made it easy to mesh with the ramen itself. Now the only problem that I had here was the fish cake that came in the ramen. There was nothing wrong with it but I personally don’t like fish cake and I forgot to have that taken out. Outside of my own personal dislike for fish cake, everything was perfect including the service. Great staff and attitudes. Great food and service. I will DEFINITELYRETURN

Great service! The waitress was really nice and explained very well to first time ramen eaters. Constantly checked back on us even after orders were given and finished. They also explain how to get a free topping for checking in. Thanks again! Also thank you Amal! You’re an awesome server. Very enthusiastic and nice. Great service!

Soooooo yummy! I had the spicy miso ramen. It was just my level of spicy. I probably gone a bit more spicy, but it was my first time trying it. The service was good, our waitress was on it. Made sure we’re doing okay and if we needed more refills. I got nothing bad to say! I will most definitely come back.

Came here looking for some wholesome nourishment after a night of drinking. Walked and and was greeted nicely. The staff was very polite, attentive and knowledge about the menu. I order the the Umaya ramen. The broth was solid in porky flavor with a moderate level of heat. I opted for their standard noodle. It had good bite and chew. The noodles here are better than most I’ve had. Overall, a solid option for ramen in the area.

Ordered the Umaya Ramen, which is like their house special ramen. I thought it would taste a lot like a shout ramen but it did not. It’s kinda spicy. It also came with egg, Chashu, spicy pork, bamboo shoots and red ginger. Not a lot of broth with this ramen though. The noodles were a little harder than I usually like them to be. The one plus is that if you check in on Unilocal, you can get one free topping for your ramen, so I got more Chashu. That was nice. Ramen was 10 – 11 dollars for each so a little pricier than most I think.

Couldn’t resist making my way back to Umaya for those fried Oreos. Those things are addicting and so delicious! Being a fan of the dishes I’ve tried previously here, I also decided to grab another plate. I tried the Umaya jambalaya… nice portion of sausage, chicken and shrimp in a flavorful curry sauce. It also had a small spicy kick to it. Made for a nice lunch. Umaya has pleased once again with the good flavors and the prices are great. Most importantly of all mentioned, I got my fried Oreos!!! Lunch 2÷6÷2016

So we tried twice in two months to get Shabu Shabu, and well, both places nearby were kinda rude, so second time we settled next door, here at Umaya Ramen. We paired our dinner with Orion beers from Japan. Well, let me say firstly I was ecstatic that Tonkotsu was on the menu. I ordered a Tonkotsu Black… But somehow it got mixed up in the order so an Umaya ramen came out instead! I was too hungry to make note of it and just gobbled this down, so although I’m disappointed I didn’t get to try it(they took it off our bill so nice) my review is going to be on a ramen I’ve never really had. Karaage came out first, and the flavor was definitely on point. The spicy mayo was a light kick in the mouth for already fried food. Our only complaint here was that it seemed to be really well breaded and the chicken was actually much smaller than what it looks like. Topping selection on this Umaya ramen bowl were delightful. Plenty of yummy extras to eat along with the noodles. Noodles were expertly prepared, but I wouldn’t say it’s my usual taste of ramen chewiness. The broth was also much lighter than I expected(well, I was expecting Tonkotsu lol) but delicious also. Not too salty, a welcome change to the delicious but salty Kopan ramen family. A Unilocal check-in rendered an extra topping, to which I hungrily chose extra chashu or pork. I did feel though, that the broth seemed to be missing something… But again, I don’t eat this type all the time so I can’t be sure. After we set up about to pay, we realized they brought me the wrong ramen, and we happened to be sitting close to the register, so the gentleman there immediately snatched up our bill to rectify the situation. He took it off even though we both insisted that I had already eaten it and we would pay for it anyway.(I first thought he was just going to knock down the price since Tonkotsu Ramen was a bit cheaper, but he just took the whole thing off!) Just wonderful service here, just blows my mind compared to the horrible service we have been receiving at other locations recently. Really great. We went ahead and tipped more than the bowl, but you know, it’s just great that they were going to fix the issue so generously. Mad kudos. Sure the ramen was about 3 – 3.5 stars, but just for that awesome service(and having Orion) we’ll probably be back if we’re ever in the area. Great show of customer service, very happy.

Post meal workout and we needed something warm to nurse the cold. This was the closest ramen joint near Liberty Park. Here’s our experience on a Thursday evening Ambiance Parking: It really depends on the time and day you go. Most times I’m in this plaza it’s pretty packed. Don’t be surprised if you have to park far or wait for parking. Seating: * Inside seating with different setups: group or bar generally sized for 4 people. Feels: * Coming into the store, the store had a strong cleaning material scent. Family friendly environment with good early 2000 R&B music. There’s a tv left on the sports channel if you’re into that stuff. Great place overall for catching up with a friend or going with family. Food: Umaya Ramen(A-OK) The presentation is excellent and with a reasonable size. However I felt like it was lacking some kick to it. The spice was there but a bit more flavor. Customer Service: Our servers were polite and attentive, they revealed our waters and checked on us at appropriate times. Overall: 3.5 stars. Food was good, music was chill, and the servers were awesome. However I did believe there was something in the ramen and the scent of cleaning materials walking into a store is kind of a concern, I get that it’s clean but I enjoy being embraced by the smell of ramen. Till next time, Umaya Ramen. TL;DR Tips: * Check-In for an extra topping.
