Okay. I keep going back, and Crabby Larry’s has yet to disappoint. Now, if we could just do something about the décor.

We were driving back from Montgomeryville and decided to give this place a shot. I really enjoyed the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was delicious. I had the broiled seafood combination and cleared my plate. The portions were a good size too. I will definitely return to Crabby Larry’s for round 2.

This place got great reviews. Well let me tell you it is all bull! This place is horrible!!! Their menu says they broil the scallops in special seasoning. They tasted like they were boiled in water and not good water! A person in my party had the so called«best crab cakes in the city’. She said they were awful! The third member of our group had haddock. She said it had no flavor and tasted like it was cooked in water. There were no seasonings used. This eatery is way over rated. I wouldn’t go back if I was paid to eat there! Whatever you hear, don’t go there!

As much as I wanted to love Crabby Larry’s, there are too many things gone awry from start to finish with the overall experience. After visiting here once before solo, I had to argue with the family to get them out here because we were in the area. I’m not sure I’ll ever hear the end of the experience. Let’s start with the positives: Friendly, family run staff that seem to be genuine and playful in nature. The décor, lighting, and settings are a bit dated but perhaps that adds to the charm. The beer is actually not bad. Got to try the sampler, and was given a taste of one of the other two, and I purchased the final one as a full pour, which came in a standard white wine glass. The food was good too! While the She-crab wasn’t the best I’ve had, I would say it was better than average. I liked the drunken mussels but the wife felt there was way too much garlic oil and Parmesan going on. We split the crab cakes, which were probably in the same category as the soup… not the best but better than the average I’ve had. Now for the downside: the kids menu didn’t have any prices listed. Having ordered at perhaps hundreds of restaurants with little ones, I usually think it’s in the $ 4 – 6 range. Got the one a burger, and the other popcorn shrimp. Holy mackerel! They came out as full sized portions! Hence strike #1 at server for seeing a 3 year old and a 7 year old at the table. C’mon, man; gimme a heads up that the portion sizes are huge for kids. Not only that but when the bill came, they were $ 8 per kids meal! Ouch. Communication is key! After the cups of soups and splitting the mussels, we split the dual crab cakes. Ordered the potato wedges and got a baked potato… not a big deal. Strike #2 — let the guest know when there is an extra plate charge. Honestly, I wouldn’t have paid the $ 4 for an extra plate with lettuce on it. Bill comes. For 3 soft drinks, 2 kids meals, a sampler of beer, a regular beer, two cups of soup, mussels, and splitting the crab cake platter? $ 92! Yikes. That’s about what we pay when we go out for fine dining with a nice bottle included. Crabby Larry’s, while quaint and serving seafood is not that. Give two cards to split for the bill. Nope. Can’t do that. Huh? That was a first for me, actually. Strike #3. We’re spending $ 100. I know margins may be tight but c’mon. On the way out, I was told, «never again.» Point taken.

First off, the menu on the website is not the current menu. I came here based on the mom and pop romance story on the website. Menu advertises that dinner is served with«loaf» of bread, house salad, and two sides. I paid $ 24 for one crab cake, two scallops, a prefab dinner roll, salad with dried out carrot strips over lettuce, canned corn, and one broccoli spear. The crab cake was good, but overall, my plate was underwhelming. Husband paid $ 34 for a «crab feast» which ended up consisting of one crab cake, one king crab leg, 4 snow crab legs, prefab coated French fries, inedible manufactured deli coleslaw, and crummy roll and salad. While the entrees were good, we felt the portions were small for the price, and the side dishes were awful. The beers were OK, no better or worse than anything we have brewed at home. At $ 75 for 3 beers, two entrees, no appetizers or desserts, we were sorely disappointed.

Went there for dinner with my lady around 6PM. Seated promptly and ordered up their excellent Whiskey/Vanilla porter. I had the shrimp sampler and my lady had the crabcake and sea scallops… both were cooked to perfection and the serving sizes were huge! Plenty to eat. The only negative I had was that it was kind of warm in there, needed to crank the AC up a little bit. Of course, it was 90 degrees outside as well. A great little family owned and operated eatery/brewpub that we will be sure to go to again. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, our glasses were kept full as needed.

Crabby Larry’s is the best-kept secret in Chalfont. Went with my brother’s family and we were all surprised at how great the food and beers were. We started with the Cheesy Crab Bread appetizer which was filled with«bubbly goodness». The Crab cakes were true happiness on a plate. Everyone got something different, and everyone was thrilled with their food. The kids loved the suggestion to make Crabby Larry’s an every Friday night habit!

For chalfont, pa, where your only other option is red lobster, I suppose crabby larry’s is acceptable. Decent at best. «Clams casino» were grossly underwhelming. I agree with much of Kristen F’s review, sides were quite good, but the actual seafood was, meh. If you want great seafood and can’t make it to any peripheral towns(doylestown is just a few miles down the road) or have the desire to cook yourself, and must stick to the area, not a terrible choice. Their beer they brew, however, was quite good. I was debating whether or not to give this restaurant 1 star due to unprofessional behavior but I judged it on the food only. I’ve attempted to eat here three times, as, again, a friend and I had random urges for seafood and didn’t have time to travel. Two of the three times I’ve seen a sign on the door saying«closed for an unexpected event» or something along those lines(i’ve posted a picture). This restaurant is only open wed-sat. Unless I’m a black cloud, I find it a bit unprofessional to randomly close without reason. I get that its a family operated restaurant, but, in modern day America, this is just bad business practice.

My girlfriend and I absolutely love Crabby Larry’s. As seafood fans, we love to overindulge when we get the chance, and this is an excellent place to do just that, and not break your budget. If you’re a shellfish fan, be sure to get the Ultimate Feast. It will eliminate your craving, and at a reasonable price for seafood. The dinner comes with king crab, snow crab, lobster tail, Maryland blue crab, clams, and mussels. Enormous and delicious. They also feature Sand Castle Wine, locally made in Bucks County. An excellent compliment to your seafood experience. Their Private Reserve Chardonnay pairs perfectly with seafood. In addition to Sand Castle Wine, they also do their own beer brewing on location. To read more on the history of the brewing and«Crabby Larry» himself, be sure to read the story on the menu. The location is a modestly constructed seafood house in a shopping plaza that has a very«low key» personality. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy excellent seafood at reasonable prices.

After all the great reviews, Crabby Larry’s came up short for me. I wasn’t expecting much when we walked in and were the only people there at 7:30 on a Thursday. The atmosphere is pretty interesting, but let me tell you, it becomes downright creepy, when it’s just you, Jesse the Waiter, and a bunch of maritime décor. My fiancé and I shared the steamed seafood bucket for two, and here’s the interesting part: everything was delicious except the seafood. The salad: great! bread: delicious! french fries with spicy seasoning: highlight of the meal! carrots with cinnamon flavor: yum! crab, oysters, mussels and clams: mediocre(at best)… I’m not sure why Crabby Larry’s gets 4 – 5 stars from everyone, but if I ever go back, I’m sticking to the side dishes!

Where else can you get fresh seafood and microbrew beer in one place this far from the shore? It has the look and charm of a 80s style family restaurant with place settings that resemble those of a diner. Still they have great seafood and beer. Crabby Larry only gets crabby about two things: groups less than 4 do not get a booth and that better not be water in your cup. The wait staff will cover for you if you drink water, they make it clear that they won’t break rule #1. They also like feedback, so if a beer has too much hops or the fish was overdone let them know. They’ll work to improve it because Crabby Larry wants to be the only crabby person in the place, crabby customers and crabby employees isn’t what it is about. Enjoy this little strip mall pub next time you are going through Chalfont(off of 202).
