For the price you can’t beat it. I would eat there again. I don’t know why all these other people say it sucked, maybe they went on a bad day.

When you see this restaurant is full of complains about overcooked food, non-exsitentnce service and overly long waiting time, you gotta believe reviews are not from Unilocal trolls but people are seriously disappointed. Naïve me, I thought I should give them a try anyway. TL;DR version: Don’t tell them they messed up the order or they will get extremely mad at you and give you hard time. I went to this place for lunch with party of 5. The restaurant was packed at the time. We placed our order, and patiently waited for 45 minutes until our food were served. My order was: Medium tuna steak, whole wheat buns and dressing on side. What I got: Overcooked chewy tuna, white bread buns, no dressing. I tried to tell waitress something is wrong with my order, but she disappeared and never showed up to our table for another 40 minutes. Ok, I don’t want to be difficult so I finished the disgusting meal. I decide that I don’t want to cause any trouble but I should still let the waitress and kitchen know they messed up my order and they would be careful for other customers. When we have to walk to the casher because they never showed up to give us the bill, I told the casher that my order was wrong but don’t worry about it, I just want them to be aware. Then the drama began, casher’s face turned even colder than before:“What do you mean your order is wrong? There’s nothing wrong!“ I showed them my ticket that clearly said all my requirements, «For example, I didn’t get my dressing on side.» «You should.» Ah excuse me, I’m sorry that I should have my imaginary dressing on side? Then casher asked who took my order, all waitresses step away and said they didn’t take the order and they started to turn the cold shoulder to me and my group. Casher then ignored my credit card, and taking payment from other customers. I was standing there without knowing what was going on. The atmosphere turned to ice cold. It seems like everyone started hated us and staring at us. I approached to casher again and asked her to take my payment. She said:“Oh, I am trying to look into the issue.” When she apparently didn’t do anything but giving us the look. I told her that’s fine just charge me, I wasn’t looking for any reimbursement but just wanted to notify them something went wrong with the order. She took my cards and charged me. No one communicated with me nor anyone apologized for messed up the order, they only wasted my another 10 minutes. After entire weird small drama, I can only be thankful that I walked out of the restaurant alive.

I tried the burger at Brewster’s. I call it the poor-man’s Port of Call. Not as good, but very good nonetheless. Best burger in St Bernard, definitely beating Lee’s and Bud’s. Time to go get me another burger!

Wow! between the non-existent service and the extremely over cooked steak we won’t be back anytime soon. We sat on the bar side and wanted to stay and watch the game after we ate but left after we ate. We ordered a Medium Rare Ribeye and I was told that a steak with no pink in the middle is a MR steak, Yes, he did eat half of it to the point he couldn’t eat anymore. We had to ask twice for silverware after we ate our spinach dip sans plates or napkins. The bartender was so hung over she made me not want to drink, which defeats the purpose of being in a bar. We go to Brewsters about once every month or so and don’t consider ourselves regulars but go often enough that a couple of the bartenders do recognize us. The manager would not come out and talk to us and they did give us a 10% discount on the steak which was $ 1,70.

Recently i had a couple bad experiences that i left a not so great review. The manager reached out to me and apologized for the bad experience. Asked me to return and have another meal on them to give them another chance and to say sorry. I went back last night and got the exact same meal, a rare ribeye with a loaded potato. The service was great, very quick and very friendly. My steak came out perfect, cooked exactly how i asked for it and tasted great. Another server asked if i wanted steak sauce, i denied it, a good steak doesn’t need sauce to cover up the taste. This steak had great flavor, but not over powering that many restaurants do to mask cheap meats. The only reason i didn’t give a full 5 star was the fake bacon bits on my potato, and my wife’s steak was ok. Nothing wrong with it, but expensive for what she got. Overall this place is great for burgers and steaks, not sure about everything else since i typically only get burgers and steaks lol

Food is great and Cheap! Service is slow and you do wait a very long time for you food. Don’t go there if you are in a rush but its the perfect place to relax with friends. All depends what you are planning for the night.

We visited Brewster’s most recently on a Friday evening around 7PM, after having eaten here many times before. I used to work in the area and would come here for lunch once a week. We’ve also had dinner here about once a month for the past two years. Oh, the good old days. This last visit was on a busy night, and there was a long wait for a table. Only a handful of people waiting for a table were ever acknowledged by the staff, I presume they were regulars, despite a large and growing group of people gathered by the door. After 35 minutes, we were finally seated. And then we continued to wait. Waiting was trending that night, if only we’d checked Twitter beforehand we would’ve known what we were in for. Several tables seated after us got a drink order in, while we waited for a server to even come by our table. After 25 minutes, a waitress finally came by our table. No apology for the wait, no acknowledgement of it even. She must’ve learned crisis response from Bill Cosby’s PR team. Typically guests are given peanuts to snack on while they wait for their food. We’re still waiting for ours. Good thing our food came fast… Oh, wait. We were finally able to put in our food order after another 15 minute wait. At this point, it was a grudge match between us and time. Time is a cruel prick. How long was it going to take to receive a hamburger? I felt like the waitress may have whispered, «May the odds be ever in your favor,» after she said she put our order into the kitchen. At this point, we could’ve been served peanut butter crackers for dinner and we would’ve happily thrown twenties at our server out of sheer gratitude. Instead we got lukewarm burgers with half melted shredded cheese on top. Needless to say, worth the wait.

Brewster’s has the BEST burgers and are a great price too! I’d much rather eat here than any other place, the food is always great and the service is so friendly! It’s connected to the bar but it’s barely noticeable, it’s not loud and there’s no icky smoke smell! I love eating at Brewster’s!

LOVEEEEE their burgers! We love their burgers even more than Port of Call, for a LOT less money. We usually get take out and twice have had problems and have to wait a bit but always worth the wait and when it has happened they discounted our ticket. Definitely recommend this to others!

This used to be my favorite place for cheeseburgers, hands down. HOWEVER, they have done away with their signature french bun and now use a regular hamburger bun… yawn. Totally changes the whole burger. Still flavorful but just not the same. Please go back to the french bun! Also, great potatos and the tuna is awesome! These people know how to cook. Friendly, quick service. Always get my order to go, I smell like an ashtray coming out of the place.

First time food was great, recently though it seems to be lacking flavor and size.

Working in Da Parish for the past 9 years and living here for the past 4, I’ve frequented this place at least 40 times. Brewster’s is really 2 places in 1. On 1 side you have a family friendly area with a bunch of tables and on the other side a bar with a jukebox, dart boards and such. I gave this place a 4th star instead of 3 based on a few things. First they by far have the best burger in the parish! Sorry Da Parish… i’m not a native and I forget. Oh and why is St. Bernard Parish called Da Parish? The have like 50 parishes across the state yet whenever one refers to «Da Parish» or «The Parish» people immediately know what you are talking about. Where was I? Oh yeah the burgers! The burgers come in 2 sizes. The regular size looks like something Fred Flintsone ordered at the drive-in and knocked his car over on it’s side. The baby burger is much more normal in size and equally delish, you just feel less manly when ordering. They have other things too but I always go for the burger and baked potato. The other reason I give it a 4th star, is the bar. The bar has a lot of different bottled beer which I like. The people here are also always pretty nice. In most other bars I have been to in Da Parish, there is always some Jersey Shore looking reject looking to start a fight. Not here. A much more mellow older friendly crowd. Much more my speed.

I’ve been a regular of this place for a few months now, coming with a standard set of work-friends. The venue itself is nothing impressive, just another small-town resturaunt set in a run down strip mall. I would positively rate the food though. Their standard fare is the Brewster Burger and Baby Brewster Burger. The full burger is probably a bit much for lunch unless you’re a solid eater, but the baby burger and potato makes for a good lunch plate. Like previous reviewer, I would probably not recommend their fries, go with the baked potato(I particularly like the potato with shredded cheese). The cheese on the burgers has never come melted in my experience there, but I had no issue with that. The burgers themselves are better than anything else I’ve found in the area. It’s nothing gourmet, but it definately hits the spot. Service is hit or miss. I’ve gone in and gotten our drinks/orders taken and had food within 6 minutes or so of sitting down, and some days where it’ll be 20 minutes before our food comes out. Number of customers doesn’t seem to affect the time, as I’ve had quick service in a full restaurant as well as while it’s empty. The servers are genearally pretty decent though, always keeping up on drink refills and being quick about taking orders. Price range is currently about $ 5 for the Baby Burger $ 8 for the full burger. Tables to seat parties of 4 – 8. All in all, I would definately recommend as a good lunch place if you’re out in New Orleans East.

I came here with some coworkers who recommended it as a good place to get a burger for lunch. The place itself is an unassuming front in a run-down shopping center in the middle of nowhere. There is a seedy bar on one side and a seedy restaurant on the other half. Our lunch table was graced with the staring eyes of a stuffed deer head. The menu is short and concise and is printed on rolled-up pieces of well-handled paper placed in the middle of the table. The fare consists of burgers, big slabs-o-meat, potatoes in various incarnations, and lots of fried stuff. Peanuts were waiting for me when I arrived at the table. The service was very slow for some reason which was surprising as the place wasn’t full when we first arrived. My «baby burger» had grated cheese sprinkled on top which didn’t quite melt and was served on a cold bun. The french fries were not quite crispy and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The prices were very reasonable but the food was definitely sub-standard. I would have thought that in the middle of nowhere LA you could at least get a decent burger but I was disappointed.
