I’ve been a regular here since they open up their doors. Every time I come here, the food is good the service is good and I usually order more food than I need and I end up having to take it home and eating it as left overs. I’ve always believe that you should treat everyone equal because in this area you have no idea who is who. Today we decided to get an order for carry out, my girlfriend went inside with our son and the lady«Yolanda» was super rude and basically talking down to my girlfriend. She was acting like she was in a hurry to be somewhere because she kept on rushing her to finish her order. I do not know if she was having a bad day or what. I’m a business owner in a different type of field and I’m pretty sure most owners would agree with me that all it takes is 1 bad experience to never come back.

Very pleased with the food and vibe. Service and food can take a very long time. Worth a try, especially if not had Peruvian before. They have a sampler platter that is a good value, variety, and delicious.

Nice décor, no wait for a table on a weeknight. The server was friendly and attentive, without hovering. I went for the aji de gallina and so happy with that creamy deliciousness! The rice was a bit dry, bu esible. Also, they actually have Cusquena beer, which I hadn’t found in this area.

I came here with a group of coworkers, none of us ever having eaten Peruvian food. We all ordered the chicken with the fried yuca. The chicken was so good with amazing flavor and the sauces and yuca were pretty good — they didn’t make the meal. Service was a bit slow considering the number of people in there.

Excellent food! It took 45 minutes to come out though, during a lunch hour when they were mostly empty. But everyone’s food was delicious, and prepared perfectly.

Went back again for yuca… I don’t know if this place just doesn’t care anymore or what but this was the worst Yuca I’ve ever had. It was cold and didn’t have that great golden color. And when I say cold i mean cold… not lukewarm but cold. And now they are closed on mondays, which is completely weird for a business. I mean it’s not like they’re chick fil a closing on Sunday for religious reasons. I probably wont come back again and instead will travel to Tysons, Burke, or falls church for my yuca or Lomo saltado. Had a recent visit for Lomo saltado, not very flavorful like i remember it being. All in all, less than impressed which is a bummer since I originally loved this place.

The food is alright. We ordered a whole chicken and had a side of yuca and rice. The chicken was tasty, the sauces were plentiful. However, we were disappointed by the Yuca. It seemed a bit stale as if it was an old batch that was re-fried. We’ve had peruvian chicken from many other establishments so we have a general idea of what is expected in terms of flavor and texture. The staff, however, is friendly and accommodating. We will return when the craving hits and we don’t feel like venturing too far from the neighborhood. Overall, not the most amazing hands down peruvian chicken, but definitely not the worst and worth a try if you are looking for a place close to home.

Delicious! I have been to numerous Peruvian restaurants around the DMV area and this is one of my favorites. The appetizer menu has plenty to offer. It’s hard to pick a favorite but the Jalea is fantastic. You won’t go wrong with ordering a couple of Pisco Sours either. Will definitely be returning to try more!

I ordered Peruvian chicken, white meat only with Jasmine rice and beans. It was good, nothing great and I would probably come back if I was in the area but I wouldn’t make a special trip for it. The meat was flavorful, not dry, but not as juicy as I’ve had at other Peruvian places.

A weekday lunch. I probably should have gone for the rotisserie chicken — and this review might have come out better. The staff did a poor job of explaining the lunch menu. My misery was compounded when the chicken-dish that I ordered had a pile of fries on top of the chicken gravy. There was a 5:1 ratio of the number of fries to actual chicken. I am not kidding there were at most three small McNugget size pieces of pollo in there. I would have gone with a 2-star recommendation, but part of this was my doing. Whatever my companion got was better, but overall yumminess was not more than a 3. So I would stay away from the Lomo Saltado because I’m not there for the fries.

Everything was great! The rotisserie chicken, fried rice, plantains, ceviche… AMAZING! We can’t wait to try everything else on the menu. I went to Peru last February, and this took me right back to that blessed week in my life! Keep up the great work– we will see you again soon!

Interesting menu, solid food, good portions. Maybe a bit overpriced, but around here it’s hard to complain too much about a non-chain restaurant that offers dishes you can’t find easliy. Please give this place a try! It’s good for protein lovers and carb lovers too!

I use to rave about this place. It’s been 3 years since I’ve eating lunch here. I work across a street now and ordered my food to go. I ordered Picante de camarones($ 15) is very salty and the sauce was a bit runny not creamy. The Tamales was wrapped in foil!?? and the Salsa salad was extremely salty too. I should of taken a picture of it but I was so hungry and just didn’t mind it. But I wish I did. This was such a disappointment. The quality is not the same when they first opened. I’m definitely not coming back. And who combines a entrée dish with your side dish? I mean come on. Let’s not be cheap.

So I came here because I was wanting something I haven’t had in awhile lomo saltado. So I wandered in and was greeted and given a table. Oh nice amount of tv’s but not overwhelming. So I did have a small wait until I got helped but it gave me chance to glance over the menu. I had made up my mind I want lomo saltado. Order came out and hey it looks good. So the taste was good and almost spot on. It was a tad on the oily side. The rice was ok and the fries also just ok. Over all it was good not OMG worthy but I can be bias as I also know how to make this. All in all I think I will have to come back and try the chicken. I hope it’s as good as some of those famous ones around here. The staff was friendly and not pushy at all. One thing would be nice if they had drink menu available instead of asking for it because I was curious as to which beers they have. Prices are a tad high but considering it’s not a dish to make. Well until next time.

I’ve only been here twice. One time was during lunch time and the other was during dinner time. This is relevant because I got the same server the both times I went and he was much friendlier during the lunch time visit than when I went for dinner. So perhaps they are tired by the end of the day and don’t want to deal with people? I don’t know. But anyway, I don’t have that much to say about their food since I haven’t been able to try much but it’s definitely different and also provides more of a variety than your usual peruvian chicken place. I’m excited to come back to try their other stuff one day. I do love their rice which I get on the side with Chicharon con Yuca!

Good not great. Staff neither friendly nor rude. Served & disappeared. Brought what you want /need. No chat. Got jalea mixta appetizer & tacu tacu con bistec. Appetizer jalea mixta… amazing! Seafood is really fresh. Nice big chunks. Tasty crisp yucca. This appetizer is big enough to be a large entrée. Would definitely order this again. Entrée tacu tacu… meh. Good. Not great. Steak really thin but still cooked properly not over done. Juicy not dry. Not really noticeable chimichurri. The rice /beans mix looks blah, but is tasty.

I walk in and order a quarter chicken(white meat), rice and beans. I walk out the door for $ 5.99 + tax. I go back the next day and order a quarter chicken(dark meat), rice and beans. I walk out the door for $ 4.99 + tax. They also have salad, fries and yucca(this one will cost you extra) as side options. The rice is jasmine, nothing much to say here, pretty standard. The beans and chicken are decent, though agreed, a tad over salted. The service is friendly, the prices rival that of your fast food chains and the portions are generous for what you’re paying!

Ehh… I really wavered between two and three stars for Aguaymanto. While our in-restaurant experience was a solid A-OK+ experience, the insane degree of over-salted-food that plagued our thirst and interrupted our sleep all night long afterwards drops it to a two. When it comes to Peruvian-style pollo places, I’m still getting my feet wet, and going off of bookmarks copped from the MIA Bobby K. and from the great Greg M. We had a Groupon to Aguaymanto, so we figured it would be a safe choice for dinner. I’m also finding in my exploration of rotisserie chicken/yucca/platanos that it’s a Russian Roulette of salt. Either you’re as-SALT-ed or you’re not — sorry, but not sorry :) . At dinner, it was pretty empty inside the restaurant, but this shopping strip strikes me as more of a lunch place, anyway. Nonetheless, our waitress was very nice and was very patient with us as we navigated the menu choices and debated among the myriad choices of Peruvian/pollo favorites. While we decided, it was nice to munch on the complimentary bowl of «corn nut”-type snacks. We ordered a Pollo Saltado, and one of the Camarones con Salsa Criollo(shrimp) entrees, and shared a side order of fried yucca. The portions were large and the plating and presentation were really nice. Each entrée was accompanied by a big pyramid of tasty(and salty) rice. While the Pollo Saltado was good, we’ve definitely had better. The Camarones dish had an unbelievable quantity of shrimp, which was great, but the sauce in which they were smothered was so creamy and so salty, that it was hard to eat. And while the fried yucca was the highlight of our meal and worth coming back for alone, I’m sure it had a lot to do with our sodium regret later on. There are so many similar restaurants in NoVA — I see how Aguaymanto is trying to do something different with waiter service at dinner and a large menu, but for the money, I’d rather head to Super Chicken in Tyson’s or myriad other locations in the area.

Waitress barely spoke any english and we had trouble understanding her. Ceviche with calamari, shrimp and tilapia was too limey and had way too much onions, otherwise, the seafood was very fresh. Peruvian chicken was very very dry even w. the dark meat. It was a complete disappointment. Yuca fries were too big and starchy. The green sauce was probably the highlight of the meal.
