This is my favorite place to go to for vegetarian Chinese cuisine. I really love the Bean curd family style though I wish it had a little heat to it, maybe eating adding sliced jalapeños to the veggie mix would really help it without making it too spicy. My husband does not like the general sows chicken, it’s very ketchup-like flavor though I thought it was delicious. I haven’t got a lot of the meat dishes but if you’re looking for vegetarian go here. I did have an allergic reaction to the hot and spicy soup, my lips swelled to double in size and I can’t figure out what was in it that would cause that, as it’s not a common occurrence with me. It still tasted terrific though.

If I could give zero stars to this place I would. Ordered from it twice and BOTH times it had hair in it. HAIR! Absolutely disgusted that a mistake like that could happen twice. Eat here at your own risk.

Sadly I do not order here every other day anymore as a matter a fact I do not order at all, on New Year’s Eve I ordered a couple things and the lady got it confused, they were very rude when I called back. Recommendations; don’t order large fries, no such thing, when calling in for Lunch make sure to say LUNCH or they will give you dinner and it’s pricey for no reason. Make sure they repeat your order to you. Anyway. The delivery guy is always awesome and very friendly ! That’s about it. He’s the reason for 2 stars

I ordered the the pad kaprow and I felt like this was probably the worst Chinese food I have had for a long time. Since there are not many options around this area, I had to go there. I might try another couple of dishes to see if there is anything good here and then will edit my review.

Nice neighborhood Chinese joint. Fast service, polite and friendly service and clean. It’s probably not what you would find in San Francisco but it’s fresh and is Chinese food that doesn’t make me ache from the msg later. The stores in this shopping center got a raw deal when they re-routed Gum Spring but these guys have gone on bravely maintaining their standards and serving their customers. In a neighborhood where there are not a lot of choices I for one am glad they are here.

It was OK. Nothing to write home or have the family try out. Avg run of the mill Chinese restaurant that does have a highlight which earned it a third star and items that leave you dissatisfied. So, the good: Pad Kaprow Shrimp. That was very tasty and had lots of vegetables which I love love love! I could sub some out but geez! A+ on that! Now the not so good. Your spring rolls are thin and I’m def aware I’m eating a fried spring roll(lots of oil), and my favorite… the fried rice which was white rice and soy sauce. Thanks for charging me the extra buck to do that chef! No peas, carrots or eggs. Fail fail fail. The hot and sour soup was ok, and crispy wontons were stale… this would’ve been a two star review however your pad kaprow shrimp dish saved you. Be selective here and cross out items on your take out menu if they suck. We’re limited on dining out here so make do :-/

Very mediocre, heavily sauced, heavily salted, heavy sugar, heavy fats… bland — stale flavors — unfortunate since its close by. Too bad too because delivery was very quick.

We ate there tonight(to go) and thought the food was good. The sweet and sour chicken sauce could have been a little sweeter… and the portions could have been a little bigger… but otherwise, very good. Sweet and sour chicken: good(would have been very good if the sauce was a little sweeter) Chicken and broccoli: good(would yave been very good if the chicken was hotter and the broccoli was smaller) Fried rice(w veggies): very good Lo mein: good Orange chicken: good(maybe very good… i need a second try with it).

The staff was very nice. Food was kind of bland and watered down. But we were starving and they were slammed with Friday night togo orders. We got the orange chicken which looked vibrant and promising… But the flavor was very watered down(literally, there was a pool of water in the bottom of the bowl). I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since they were so busy. I’ll try again during non-peak hours. Every business deserves a second chance.

We have been ordering takeout from Hunan Café for about two years now. This place is the best Chinese/American carryout food in Stoneridge areas. The delivery services is fast and we always tip them very well. When the food arrive, they are still hot and fresh. My favorite: Chicken with Broccoli in white sauce Sesame Chicken(The best, white meat) Lomein with Shrimp Young chow Fried Rice Hot & Sour Soup Kapow with Shrimp Cashew with Shrimp(I love the sauce but too little shrimp) Sichuan Beef Noodle soup(very authentic soft noodles but beef sometimes can be chewy) Beef with Broccoli(this is my new favorite)

Quick and convenient Chinese food. Always hot and fresh tasting. The menu is up on the wall along with pictures to help those indecisive people. We love the fried rice, shrimp and broccoli and their fried dumplings! Boss man always asks for their hot oil to add to the food it adds flavor and spice!

Their food is pretty good. Definitely my go to spot during the week when it gets hectic with work, kid’s after school activities, etc. I’m pretty sure we order food from here at least once a week.

Him: Hunan Café Me: Hi, can I place an order for delivery? Him: Wha choo want. Me: A # 15, the Generals Tso’s Chicken, and a #16, Shrimp and Broccoli. Him: # 16 is triple delight, you want triple delight? Me: No, I must have an old menu, I would like a Generals Tso’s chicken and a Shrimp and Broccoli lunch special. Him: #16 is triple delight, not shrimp. Me: I must have an old menu, forget the numbers, I would like a Generals Tso’s chicken and a Shrimp and Broccoli lunch special. Him: You want Triple Delight? Me: No Sir, I would like a Generals Tso’s chicken and a Shrimp and Broccoli lunch special. No triple delight. Him: You try triple delight? Me: No, forget the triple delight, that is NOT what I want. I want a Generals Tso’s chicken and a Shrimp and Broccoli lunch special. No triple delight; do not send a triple delight. Him: Why no triple delight? Me: I do not want the triple delight? Him: Why no triple delight, triple delight is good? Me: Sir. Should I call somewhere else? Him: Ah, you want Generals Tso’s chicken and a Shrimp and Broccoli lunch special? Seriously? As annoying as that interaction was, the food was okay. Fried rice was lacking everything but soy sauce. No veggies, no eggs, just rice and soy sauce. The General Tso’s chicken was pretty good though. Food was delivered in about 45 minutes. I am still on my quest to find decent Chinese delivery in Chantilly. There has to be SOMEWHERE?

I’m dropping my previous review a star because Hunan’s quality just isn’t what it was a few months back. When I first moved out to Ashburn, this was the closest Chinese restaurant that delivered. 6 months ago, their Ma Po Tofu was one of the best I’ve ever had. Then something changed a couple months ago and the next few times I ordered it it had a funky/fishy taste. So then, I switched my regular order to the Kung Pao Tofu. Supposed to be spicy, right? Not. Even. Close. It tastes more like an Orange sauce. Which is ok, but definitely not spicy. The fiancé consistently gets Chicken lo mein and is happy with it. Hunan does the job on those nights where we have that conversation: «Hey, I Don’t feel like cooking, want delivery?» «Sure» «…pizza…Chinese…ok, I guess we’ll order from Hunan.» Nothing special, just standard, better-than most, Chinese delivery.

You would be shocked the number of Chinese joints around my home, there are over 10 in a 3 mile radius, and I live in the hills of VA. This location is ok, nothing over the top about it. However it did take 4 employees to take my order. Don’t order anything special — as all my special requests were no completed. I have an allergy to onions and the onion was left in everything. I ordered 5 dishes to go, and when I got home my family and I only had 1 small thing of white rice to share among ourselves and the dishes. While I was there I didn’t see any other customers come in however I did hear a few phone in orders.

Giving it 5 stars because it’s probably the best Chinese food I’ve had in the 5 years I’ve lived in Northern VA. Delivery was a bit slow, but not enough to decrease stars. Maybe just a busy night. The food is what you would expect it to be.

Very good typical Chinese food. I’m not a giant fan of their egg/spring rolls, but the Chicken with Garlic Sauce, General Tso’s and Pan Fried Dumplings are all about as good as you expect from a regular neighborhood place. The place looks clean and you can see the cooks work, which I know is important to many people. There’s an identical place on the other side of South Riding with the same menu, décor and food but with the TV on the other side of the room. It’s like accidentally walking into the Earth-2 Hunan Café.

Definitely not a place that I crave but it is right next to the house so in case I get snow in for a week again then, I might stop there right after the snow is over just because I am tired of eating what is in my fridge without driving much in the snow. My friend had once the lunch special(beef & broccoli… I think). The rice had no taste and the meat was just greasy. As for me, I order the pad thai(I eat pad thai everywhere I go) and it was just full of grease without much flavor. The great thing about the place is that speed. There is not much clientele and therefore, it takes only minutes to order and receive your food.

Another Americanized Chinese joint — recently opened in the new Gum Spring Village Center retail complex in South Riding, VA — just off of U.S. 50 and Gum Spring Road. The address should read as «South Riding,» but Unilocal — auto-changed the address when I saved the entry. South Riding is the city name printed on the menu and credit card receipt — although if one goes to the USPS web site — it will interchangeably accept both«South Riding» and«Chantilly» as the city name for this location. Got food to go — Kung Pao chicken — extra spicy, Shrimp fried rice, fried egg rolls, and Hot and Sour soup, with a side of house Chinese mustard. Took them about 12 minutes or so to have my order ready. When I got home, I found the container with the Kung Pao chicken was not properly sealed — all of the Kung Pao sauce and goodness contained therein had leaked out of the container(the top was not tightly sealed). As a result, the inside of the bag and some of the other containers were a bit messy — and the Kung Pao chicken lacked that sauce it needed. The Kung Pao chicken was unspectacular, The Shrimp fried rice, soup, and egg rolls were decent. Hunan Café delivers with any order over $ 15.00 in a limited delivery area and is open 7 days a week. I’ll have to eat in next time and see if it is any better. I’d be interested to see other folks check this place out and evaluate it. NOTE: Google maps currently cannot depict the location of this business due to the fact that is a relatively new location.
