I went here with my husband and had the best time! The food was delicious. Our server was Alex and she was so personable, thoughtful and a hard worker. We will definitely come back!

I took my mom here for mothers day and was very disappointed. The staff was unattentive and took a long time to get us anything. When we did get our drinks the coffee and tea were cold and bitter. The food was OK but nothing more than a basic hotel continental breakfast. The yogurt was expired. Not even close to being worth the price we paid. When it came time to pay no one came to pick up our check and we were forced to leave cash just so we could leave. I wish I had taken my mom somewhere else. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We ate here while staying at the Sheraton and the food was delish. You have to try the fried chicken. Nice and juicy! You can’t go wrong with the salmon or the shrimp and grits. Service was fast and friendly. Want to try breakfast there next time!

Decided to eat here because it is attached to the Sheraton where we had to attend a seminar. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly. I order their Black Pea Hummus with Pita wedges, celery and carrot sticks. This was so delicious and more flavorful than typical hummus made of chickpeas. I ordered the Ruben with a side of sweet potatoes fries. One of the best Reubens I’ve ever had. Great corn beef, fresh kraft topped with a tasty Russian dressing. The sweet potatoes fries were seasoned with sugar & cinnamon and just a hint of salt. Purely scrumptious. My fiancé got the fried chicken sandwich with fries. She said it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. She didn’t offer me a note so it must have been good(or she was extreme hungry). They have a nice variety of entrees like shrimp & grits, steaks, chops and some delicious desserts. Give Carolina 1663 a try.

To be fair, I sat in the bar during my visit here, so I did not truly sample this restaurant’s fare, but I was not impressed with the slow bar service, and the pulled pork nacho appetizer was rather meh. Also, the prices for the entrees were pretty steep, I noticed, when I perused the menu out of curiosity, but it’s a hotel restaurant so they kind of have you hostage unless you want to drive off the property. I never got the coffee I asked for, but I did get the whiskey sours I ordered, so I still consider that something of a win. If I lived in the area, I doubt I would come here for a dinner out, but as a hotel guest, it’s a decent spot to get something to eat.

I stayed in the attached hotel for a work trip, and was feeling too lazy to grab food elsewhere and decided to order carry out from Carolina 1663. I ordered the shrimp and grits as well as the sweet tea pie. The grits were possibly a bit undercooked, and a bit on the crunchy side. It turned out that the sweet tea pie wasn’t available, so another kind of pie was substituted. It was so unremarkable that I can’t even remember it. Maybe Dr. Pepper pie? Who knows.

On May 14, 2015 I ordered the crispy fried chicken yesterday without too much expextation. I though it would be just another hotel restaurant food. I was so shocked when I took my first bite. It was definitely the most sophisticated fried chicken I have ever had. I didn’t even think I could use«sophisticated» to described fried chicken. The fried chicken itself was presented like rack of lamb. The streambeans are very nicely flavored. I am not a big fan of mashed potato, but the one I had was just amazing. It was pan fried on both sides and the gravy was a nice touch on the side. This is the dish I would expect from a Ritz Calton hotel restaurant or a Michelin star restaurant. I was planning to check out from this Sheraton one day early, but I decided to stay for their food. On May 15, 2015 could have taken tonight’s flight to go home in Los Angeles, but I decided to stay because I had a such wonderful dinner experience at this restaurant. It was not even in the main sitting area. I had to take a quick bite from the bar, so I ordered fried chicken for the convenience. As I posted earlier, that was the best fried chicken I have ever had. It’s really not easy to make simple food great. But the chef manage to create such a elegant dish. And the flavor of each item on the plate is just perfect. So now I have finished my meeting at this Sheraton hotel, and I am ready to experience another great culinary adventure. I still choose to sit at the bar area cause it has a nice view of the outdoor patio. I order the shrimp and grits recommended y the bartender. This is the first grits I have ever had, and I really doubt I can find another grits better than this. First, I think the chef is a genius of flavoring. The combination of the perfectly grilled shrimp and sauteed mushroom create a very delicate balance in each bite. The grits serve as a magic foundation of this soul fulfilling entrée. I still can taste the well balanced aroma in my mouth after finished this dish. It is just truly amazing. After the ultimate satisfaction of the entrée and beer, I decided to try an appetizer. It’s not because I was still hungry, I just want to see what other dish from this chef could surprise me. I ordered the bacon wrapped scallop. This is a signature dish at many high-end restaurants(Michelin Stars too) I have visited, and they all have different creative ways to make it. Over here at Carolina 1663, they serve the scallop on cream corn. I have had famous cream corn at various placed, but I am still amazed by the flavor from the diced vegetables. The bacon was perfectly pan fried and the scallops were juicy and tender. The cream corn does not overpower the scallop, and the bacon was done just right. I wished I had more room for desert, but I just couldn’t eat any more. If I ever has a chance to come back to Raleigh again, I will definitely come back to explore other entrees on the menu.

Food– 3 stars. Everything we had was fine, but nothing really knocked our socks off. Service – 2 stars. Not bad, but felt like they we understaffed with only two tables in the whole place. It isn’t Shula’s, but it tries to be and that’s their mistake. If they had a real bartender and didn’t use the waitstaff as such, I think they might make out better. I doubt we’ll return. There are so many better choices in the area.

From start to finish one of the best Valentines dinners EVER. Was uncertain what to expect with a restaurant attached to a hotel(Sheraton). Moriah, our server, welcomed us, gave a rose to my wife, lit the candle and did a fantastic job all night. We started with crab cakes and salads as our first two courses. Both perfect size, taste and timing. Our main courses were a 16oz rib eye cooked medium(Well seasoned and no knife needed) and Filet Oscar. Again, fantastic entrees, potatoes and vegetables. We finished the night with champagne and their dessert trio. The banana pudding and chocolate covered strawberries were hits. Great service, food and no rush. Almost every table was full and it seemed like all were happy and running smooth. Will be back for dinner again here soon.

I think this restaurant may be in trouble. We ate there at 6:30 on a Saturday night of a home football weekend and it was virtually empty. Our service staff were all very polite but extremely uncoordinated. It took a long time to get our order placed, and there were several errors in bringing the food. They were harmless errors — e.g., one of our party had the same appetizer brought out twice, we had to ask several times to have the volume of the TV lowered, and one server brought out appetizers and simply started putting them in front of people without confirming who ordered what. The food itself was fine — nothing spectacular. But the weird service patterns created an ambience of a place that is, at best, highly disorganized.

We went for Mother’s day. We booked it a week in advance and at the time of booking there was no info stating it would be a buffet. So strike one, buffet’s are not my favorite. Once we were seated the buffet wasn’t ready for an additional 10 minutes, strike two. The buffet was not bad, nice salad, collard greens — cooked well, chicken(that was so so), shrimp and grits that was tasty and salmon in a BBQ sauce. They also had a roast beef and pork tenderloin station. I strontly disliked the fact that NONE of the food was labeled. And when I asked a staff member what the white soup/sauce? was in the pot they didn’t know! Strike three and now I am out of strikes… but there’s more! Also utensils weren’t always present at the different stations. Our service was very poor we had piles of used plates no one collected in the middle of our table for half the meal. And finally, it was extremely overpriced and the tip was included at 20% for lousy service. Perhaps not for mother’s day, and not a buffet, this may not be too bad but our experience was lacking.
