Had an excellent meatloaf dinner there! You can’t fool people on homemade food and they certainly have the real deal!

The BBQ chicken pizza and R&R shrimp are amazing, I crave them since moving away from chapel hill. The family who owns the restaurant are great and the service was always good. Great place to watch games, great patio, always fun late night.

I really enjoyed this place! James was an absolutely wonderful server and I highly recommend to request him! He was so attentive and made sure we were ok at all times. He helped recommend what we chose to eat(which ended up being awesome) and even recommended somewhere for us to go once we left there for a drink. He made small talk with us and got to know some things about us and we ended up having a lot in common! He made us feel very welcome! I got the Seafood Alfredo(scallops, shrimp and salmon) which was so wonderful! I could have licked the bowl clean it was that good. The Alfredo sauce was homemade and you could definitely tell. It made you dish. If you want to go somewhere and have both great food and service this is your place! When I am back in Chapel Hill, I will definitely stop by!

Great Service! Our server James made our trip! The chicken fingers were some of the best I’ve had! Highly recommend this place if you’re in the Chapel Hill area and want a good meal!

Just decent. As a woman of the south, I take my shrimp and grits VERYSERIOUSLY… so I was excited to try that specific item on the menu… the grits were just ok, the sauce was ONPOINT, and the shrimp again… just OK. I recommend more seasoning on the shrimp, and maybe a more hearty or fried grits option instead.

I’m a vegetarian so it’s hard to find burger places to my liking but this was pretty nice. I ordered a veggie burger which was really tasty! The ambience was also calm and laid back, which was nice after a long plane flight. I also really liked the service. My only major complaint is that the fries weren’t crispy :/otherwise I really enjoyed my meal here.

Good is great! Had a steak for lunch and it was the best! My server was really nice as well. They have inside n outside dining with flat screens. It’s really nice and will be returning.

Our lunch was great! The service was excellent. We sat on the covered porch. We ordered chicken & waffles, fried chicken biscuits & gravy, crab cake Benedict, and steak eggs. Food was great! Prices, food & service were better than some of the other nearby establishments.

My mister and I stopped by here randomly for lunch on Saturday. We had our dog in-tow, and were pleased how accommodating the manager was to us cutting through the restaurant to sit out on the patio. The patio has a great set up with a covered dining area, separate bar area, and many televisions placed throughout. Our waitress was very attentive, and the manager was pretty friendly and stopped by several times to check on us. I had the curry chicken sandwich, and it was good but messy.

I have to agree with Lauryn C. on this one. 3.5 would be ideal for this place. We walked in around 7:30PM on a Sunday evening(UNC has just started back up so there were people on Franklin Street everywhere) but when we walked in, we couldn’t find a server or a host/hostess and the place was NOT busy. We walked to the outdoor area and still didn’t see anyone(nice view though) especially with the sun setting. We finally walked back in a sat at the bar(where we found a bartender). It’s cute looking on the inside and the bartender was nice enough. They have ½ price bottles of wine on Sunday evening. We just wanted a glass each so we were planning on putting the bottle in a bag to take home after our two glasses. Anyway. the bartender put it in the bag but somehow he didn’t put the cork in all the way and red wine spilled some in my car on the way home. So that was kind of sucky. :)

Nice cool spot. Indoor/outdoor. Clam chowder and Caesar salad w blackened chicken and buff chix pizza. College tour for us but would be a great spot to watch a game. Staff friendly and bathrooms very clean.

Super yummy, price was well set and the crew was kind. Definitely heading here again. I can see why people mention that it is a strong pillar in the community.

Bar service is always great before and after a game. My favorite place to stop before catching the bus down for a basketball game. Staff is friendly and know how to take care of the regulars as well as giving a great experience to the newcomers. I normally get the wings which are grilled rather than fried along with their ranch as part of my pregame ritual. Can get crowded after a big win or when they have a band, but it’s worth it when the patio is open. Also, ask for the large rocks if you like your liquor straight. One of the few places on the street with the large ice cube trays so your drink doesn’t get too watered down. Just let them know that’s what you want.

Service was a 2. Our waiter was slow to respond and seemed like he didn’t remember much after leaving the table. After eating our burgers tho the food is a 4 star. The burgers were cooked exactly to order. It was a great meal that filled me up to the brim. Slower time of year as we were one of three tables in the restaurant and none when we left. Great place overall, maybe hire a service team member that writes down the order so nothing is left out. This restaurant is recommended

Great wait staff and good micro brews. Nice outdoor seating area. I ordered the shrimp and grits and split it with my wife. It was very tasty!

Chapel Hill seems to have the worst quality restaurants in the Triangle area. R&R Grill stands out for being one of the only good options in town. The food’s prepared well, and the ingredients(especially the meats) are of a very noticeably high quality. Friendly, attentive staff. Better background music than most other places in town, as well(60s/70s soul, and even some blues — so much better than the omnipresent modern rock). Enjoyably air-conditioned on hot days. The menu is a little limited, and I don’t think it’s changed a bit since they opened several years ago. But, that’s ok. It’s still good, and the high quality hasn’t changed either. Good brunch, as well. The owner is very omnipresent, which can be a bit disconcerting. But, he’s managed to keep the place from the downhill quality slide that has ruined Top Of The Hill & the now-abysmal 411/Spanky’s/Squid’s people. So, good job, white-haired guy from up North somewhere and your nearly-identical son; keep it up.

First time here and pleasantly surprised! Excellent burgers cooked to order. Really good sweet potato fries, too. Our server, Matthew, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer selection and menu. Mostly bar fare but really well done. Based on other reviews, I would like to come back and try the brunch menu.

My husband and I have visited Chapel Hill quite a few times to watch UNC football and basketball games and we usually go to Top of the Hill or Spanky’s. However, for our most recent trip we decided to try something new and happened to stumble into R&R Grill. Just walking in we were shocked we had never been there before. The restaurant itself is huge including a very large patio where my husband and I sat and watched the game. We actually had a better view of the game than we had gone to Top of the Hill. We were also pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! I am a huge fan of fish tacos and R&R’s were delicious. My husband also got their signature R&R Burger and loved it. We very pleased with how knowledgeable our server(Jessica) was about the food and about the restaurant itself. My husband and I were just so impressed with everything about R&R we felt the need to share our experience, so everyone else can enjoy a hidden secret along Franklin Street. Needless to say we are definitely adding R&R Grill as one of our Chapel Hill spots.

Wow. How the heck have I never eaten here or really heard about this? The food was actually impressive. High quality with great flavor. They had a great crab and corn chowder sotd, tasty burgers, sandwiches, and omg… The Greek yogurt cheesecake and salted caramel ice cream with bacon were both amazing dessert choices. We went with a group of people and all of us were impressed with everything we had. We will definitely be coming back– especially for brunch, that menu looks amazing!

I’d really like the 3.5 star option here. I met some fellow Unilocalers for a Sunday brunch. First off the place is huge if you are looking to seat a crowd I highly recommend R&R. The host sat me promptly and I was greeted by a very friendly waitress. Everyone is always looking for a brunch place that offers some sort of morning cocktail special(by morning I mean noon). R&R stood out amongst some of the other selections because of the $ 15 bottomless mimosas. Of course as much as we had hoped this was by the pitcher sadly enough it was by the glass. The mimosas were good though you could actually taste the bubbly which is always a plus and the server made sure our glasses were never empty. The table ordered all kinds of stuff off the menu from, a breakfast burger, fish n’ chips, crabcake benedict, and chicken n’ biscuits. I went with just a plan old traditional breakfast of two eggs over easy with hashbrowns and bacon. The hasbrowns were crispy and delicious and my eggs came out perfectly. The breakfast burger did have to be sent back since it was way overcooked, but the server apologized and brought back a new burger promptly. Nothing really special or that stood out to make me want to come back here for brunch but if your in Chapel Hill I would definitely mark it down on your list of brunch places to try!
