Ummm so the music could not be more subpar the DJ was literally wearing a plastic crown and when I wanted a break from his horrible queue of songs and requested to hear something he was like«uh ok it depends» and I was like I think we wanna hear Kanye and he was like«nah» …could not have been more put off, this place felt like a cheap club in uptown Charlotte

A few of us were out for my birthday and decided to go to The Library so I could play beer pong for the first time.(yes, I know I’ve been sheltered) It was pretty full at 11pm and had the air of fun. We were served promptly and met up wit X to play. I had a wonderful time playing beer pong and jamming to the music playing for Latin Night. I will be back to not only practice my pong skills but also to participate in Latin night. This is defiantly a «college bar» but super-fun, non the less!!!

They only allow UNC students and you must have an ID. So don’t bring your Duke, NCCU, NCST friends cause they will not be allowed to enter… which is very unfortunate

This place is dope. Lots of room to dance, awesome DJ(the Asian dude was fresh!) and great drink specials. Definitely a great time and will definitely come back!

I was in town for a series of meetings being held at The Carolina Inn and before a dinner event, a colleague and I happened into this place. The name is catchy albeit very college sounding. Having been a student at a southern university, I am quite familiar with the scene and while that was well over ten years ago, things really haven’t changed. This is a gross little dive bar meant for college students with basic drink needs and a desire to shout in order to have a conversation. It’s dark, dingy, sticky and generally unpleasant, but I’m in my thirties now so what can I say? They do make a strong drink, though. I would not return, but don’t hold anything against the place. It’s not for me, it’s for students.

Two terrible experiences. First I gave my same bartender after a couple drinks my ID as he had requested. Never saw it again and I was pushed out though sober because I had picked up a shot on the bar and it accidentally slipped through my hand. I offered to pay for another. It wasn’t happening. I figured they judged me wrong and gave it another shot on a friends birthday. I held my debit card in my hand on the bar to show a tab will be made and my party of 6 is ready. A bartender attempted to slap my card out of my hand while walking by. I assumed this was accidental and asked the second bartender why my card and hand was hit while the last walked by. He stayed I was«out of line». My party promptly left and all 6 of us had a great time at Goodfellows across the street.

The floors are always so sticky and the place smells odd. I know most bars/clubs don’t smell like a bed of roses, but something about the Library makes it one of the lesser appealing places to stop by on Franklin. Nothing stellar about the service, but some of their weekday drink specials aren’t half bad. But again, I would much rather spend my nights out in Chapel Hill at some of the other many bars on Franklin and Main St(Carrboro).

As far as Campus Bars go this one was better than I expected. I didn’t have to wait several minutes standing at the bar to order my drinks and the music and staff were very friendly. I would like to note how impressed I was with the bartender Dave. Very rarely do I come across someone who remembers my name and drink order for future rounds but Dave hit it on the head. I think I came in on a College Night due to the wide array of Varsity athletes from UNC but I didn’t feel out of place somehow. I enjoy a few games of Beer Pong in the back of the room and also jumped on the dance floor for a bit trying to keep up with the tempo of the live DJ. All in all it was a fun evening and I can certainly see myself checking out stuff(pardon the pun) at The Library again.

While I had fun here, it was definitely missing something. Perhaps the fact that there was a smattering of books about the bar made me feel uncomfortable? I’m not sure. It was a nice effort, but seemed as though there wasn’t much thought put into it. Cheap beers were really nice, but the crowd got too intense and crazy for me after awhile. While I like a good night out dancing every once in awhile, I know I wouldn’t come here regularly, given the chance. At the end of the night I had to pee so bad, my molars were floating, but of course there was a gaggle of girls crowded in the bathroom completely barring the door shut with their scantily clad booties. MOVE, ladies. Of course, one of them was gushing blood from a gash in her foot due to what I’m suspecting was a broken bottle among the outrageous liability known as beer pong in the back of the bar. Bad idea. While I felt bad for the girl(no one ever wants to be bleeding in a raucous bar full of strange drunk people), I was still amazed that they decided to do the high school thing and create a blockade out of their bodies. Go somewhere else and clean yourself up. Go get help. Get out of this scummy bathroom and let me get my business done! Anyways, bars like this tend to attract people that do stuff like that. It just happens. It makes me upset and amuses me at the same time. That girl should have been sobered up by the fact that she had an open wound in a very dirty place and done the smart, I-don’t-want-to-lose-my-foot thing and gotten away from the throng of strange and just as dirty people. That’s probably the main reason I didn’t like this place any more than I did: the crowd. The people were either ready to puke all over each other or dancing so nasty that it wasn’t even dancing anymore. Maybe I’m an old lady, but it just felt weird.

Not a fancy spot to dance. It’s almost like dancing in someone’s over-sized dirty living room. I will say that last time I was there the bartender created me an amazing drink and didn’t charge me my first born for it. Very reasonable for a dance club. They have games in the back for ppl too awkward to dance. ;)

A good bar but nothing too special. Occasionally some people will go a little crazy dancing on the stage. They have a couple good beer nights during the week but I don’t think the Library is worth paying a cover.

This place makes me uncomfortable. It’s got foreboding-looking doors that took all of my courage to open, not knowing what in f***all lurks inside: could be freakin’ Narnia, for all I know, which, actually, would be much cooler than reality, which is just some big, taciturn dudes waiting to take your money. The first time we visited The Library, we were turned away. Private party. I secretly suspected that it was because my husband and I didn’t look cool or young or whatever enough to get in. But now that I’ve actually been inside, I really do think there was a private party. But, whatever, it was a damn Saturday and I just wanted to DANCE! My next visit was with a group of hot girls and we still had to pay the cover. Lame. Also, besides the group of friends I was with, the clientele are kind of gross. There were a lot of skeezy drunkards hitting on us that night. I don’t like that feeling at all. Sometimes I just want to DANCE! without dealing with a bunch of f***ery, ya dig? The drinks are overprices and not all that. The best part about this place is its name, but I’d much rather be going to an actual library than to this place.

The Library has books. That part of its moniker is indeed accurate. However, you will not be reading the books you find at The Library. I think you could, but you’re really here for the booze. It’s a $ 5 cover on the weekend, though once you get inside, the deals aren’t too bad. Beyond that, it’s your standard Chapel Hill bar: nothing too fancy, but it serves its purpose effectively.

This place is pretty awesome. I think they were having the med school special event here and the turnout was pretty big. It was my first time here and I like how they actually do music video rather than just music. Also the beer pong/flip cup table at the back is pretty cool as well.

Library is really a very BASIC. let me repeat BASIC dance club. not special/fancy layouts. a bar a dance floor some tables on the side that’s it. However i do give credit to someone who came up with the library, since its in college campus. kids can tell their parents that they are going to LIBRARY without lying lol. i thought it’s a genius idea name a club after that I have to admit library could be SUPERFUN when you are super wasted. in fact anywhere can be super fun when you are wasted.

The Library isn’t really one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill, but I can occasionally be convinced into going. The beer selection leaves something to be desired, but they do usually have some decent specials. I think it’s usually only 21 and up, so I don’t understand the ubiquitous cover charge. The space isn’t set up very well, but they do cram a lot of entertainment into a small, narrow space. Aside from the raised stage for bands/dance parties, they also have a couple of pool tables and some old school arcade games. Depending on the night, the music varies from hip hop to local bands to DJs. On the plus side, I usually think the service is decent. The bartenders are quick and efficient and the doormen are friendly. There are far better dance clubs down the road in Raleigh, but the Library gets 4 stars just because I can’t in good conscience give it the same rating as Players.

Maybe I’m showing my prejudice against terrible music, overpriced alcohol, and inexplicable rap videos, but this place makes me want to vomit. There is a membership and a cover, and for what? Heaving throngs of drunken(read: sick) customers taking turns throttling each other to songs that should have died off before they were even composed. I can’t speak to the drink specials on some nights, particularly the mythical 1−2−3 Wednesday, but I know that when I was there I was shocked at what they charged for a beer. The Library has two modes: First, the slow night, when five or six ever-reliable middle-aged men are drowning themselves in whiskey at the bar with nary a coherent word spoken. Second, the busy nights, when the main attraction of the Library seems to be for dancing. And really, if you’re after dancing, this may be your place. I just can’t shake the feeling that there may be a better place for it. One plus over other dance clubs: at least you can see your hand in front of your face. It’s something, I guess.

The Library appeared to have died down a little in the recent months, but business is picking back up again for the summer. People finally caught on to the great deals on Wednesday nights, also known as 1−2−3 night. $ 1 domestic bottles, $ 2 bartender’s choice shots, and $ 3 well drinks. There isn’t live music on most Wednesdays, however, so if you’re looking to dance I’d wait until Friday or Saturday; these are the bars busiest nights of the week, and there is always a DJ. Expect to pay a modest cover(normally $ 2 or $ 3) and be ready for a crowd on the weekend. It’s less crowded than other dance venues on Franklin St., so if you’re looking for a slightly calmer scene, this is the place to go.
