It’s my understanding that The Bistro has discontinued their Sunday brunch that I mentioned in my previous review. Boo-hiss!!!

Another great choice in Charleston. The service was excellent, and the food to match. I had the crusted trout, tomato bacon grits and sauteed carrots. The food was prepared just right, and right on par with the rest of the experience. When I saw the BMW’s and Mercedes’ in the parking lot, I knew I was in the right place!

Thank you Bridge Road Bistro for the best dinner experience we’ve had in a long time. Top notch service from the time we walked in the door till the time we left. The entire staff was so wonderful and the food was to die for, we can’t thank you enough for being what the service industry should be. Hats off to the entire staff you are the best and it shows!

The food is decent, but I’ve never been so impressed that I would make it a regular destination. Everything I’ve had has been good, I’ve yet to find anything I’m simply over-the-moon for. Maybe I will on my next visit. That being said, the fried green tomato BLT is a nice choice, and I’m interested to try their Cuban sandwich next time. A good Cuban covers a multitude of sins!

I LOVE this place! My boyfriends family live near Charleston, and they said we should go there. The inside is lovely, and the bar is nicely set up. The food is amazing! We had five people, and we all loved it. Now, we’re from the UK and are big drinkers. We had about three bottles of wine, cocktails, and scotch, and coffee too. We were the only table drinking alcohol, and we definitely got looks and comments. We didn’t care, we just had to remember the cultural differences! We chatted to the management for a bit, and our service was wonderful. My brother and parents loved it so much, we went back the next day! Haha. The bistro is in a lovely and leafy part of Charleston, and its location gives it a small town feel. Ignore all the bad reviews on here. Its probably just high maintenance people complaining just to complain! I’ve recommended this place to so many people. Can’t wait to go back this spring! See you soon!

There are three good martini bars in Charleston.(Each happens to also be a restaurant.) The Bistro bar tops this short list. I view the place as a neighborhood bar that serves better food in this upscale part of town. The two primary bartenders are a seasoned duo who perform with a smile even when the place is slammed. Speaking as an ‘irregular’ regular I give The Bistro my thumbs-up as the friendly place to enjoy alone or with your dinner date.

We were in town visiting family. We live in the DC area, so we’re used to an array of fine dining options. This was our first dining experience at BRB and we had a very nice experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. There was a band playing that was really good and added to the warm atmosphere at the bar. Only knock is that the food is a bit pricey, on par with many of the high end restaurants in the Washington DC area that have significantly higher operating expenses(rent). Our check for 5 adults and 2 small children, who shared soup and a side, for dinner, a couple apps and a few glasses of wine was $ 300. I had the salmon, which was on the small side for $ 30, but, it was very good! That being said, it’s a very nice restaurant in a quaint little part of Charleston. Would definitely recommend over many of the other places we have been to. We will be back for sure next year!

Seriously disappointed! I had heard great reviews about this place. Many people told me it was pricy, but well worth it. I decided to take my wife there for our anniversary. We aren’t very upscale to say the least, so for us, this was supposed to be special. When we first arrived, we stood at the door for nearly 5 minutes. While a few bar patrons were having drinks, the bartenders gave us several glances, but never bothered to find someone to have us be seated. Let’s get to the meal; we ordered the calamari appetizer. Little did we know, this would be the highlight of the night. The calamari was cooked a light golden brown and melted in your mouth. The sesame seed sauce was AMAZING! My wife ordered the 10oz. filet and I ordered the 14oz. center cut ribeye. She ordered her filet to be medium well, it came out well done. There was absolutely no pink in the middle and it was like eating roast beef. I ordered my steak to be medium and it was probably medium rare at best. There was little to no seasoning on the steaks, they were flavorless! The yukon mashed potatoes were the best seasoned part of the main course. The staff seemed to be really nice, yet unprofessional. It says something when your waitress tells you that«you should have gone to the chop house». One of the bartenders walked by us belching out loud. Another girl was pouring water at a table and overflowed a glass only to yell«SHIT!» Needless to say, this will be the one and only time I go to Bridge Road Bistro. My disappointment was overwhelming.

Being one of the nicer dining establishments in the area, I had high expectations for the bistro. Every time I have eaten here I have had great service. However, the food is slightly inconsistent; the filet mignon was prepared deliciously, but the calamari and a few other appetizers we tried were disappointing. Not a bad option if you’re in the area, but nothing incredible.

My husband and I went here for our annual day after Valentine’s meal this year and opted for lunch since the prices were better and just about everything we wanted was on that menu as well. General comment: they are still using bottled water for serving, cleaning, and drinking which I very much appreciate. The service was a little slow when we got there, but there was also bad snow that morning and it looked like they were short staffed. Despite that, our waitress was very friendly and did her best to keep our drinks filled while we waited on our food. The food was absolutely fantastic. My husband got the bison burger and the blue cheese chips which he loved(and I stole some chips: lots of chips) and I got the red pepper bisque(drool) and the gyro piadine(falling apart, but delicious). Then we ordered some food to take home for dinner that night: fish and chips for the hubbie(I assume he liked it: it was gone), french onion soup(bland), the crab artichoke dip(BESTTHINGEVER), and the greek chicken pasta(fully sufficient for two people)

Horrible service and overpriced food. I’ve been here at least 4 times before tonight but I will not be going back. I’ve convinced my self to keep going back up to this point because some of their items on the menu are excellent. Tonight i ordered one of the items I love, the pork chop. When done the way the menu describes it it’s the best pork chop I’ve had. When done the way they prepared it for me tonight, the way they have decided to prepare it for restaurant week(told directly by the head chef the way they were making it to meet a price point to make a profit) it taste like something i would have made in college on my George Forman grill. It was tough, dry, and flavorless. HORRIBLE! I’ve been to restaurant week in multiple cities and this is when a restaurant wants to make an impression on the community to expose them to what they have to offer and to gain new business. They obviously did not get the memo on how to do it right. When brought to the managers attention she had no idea it was being prepared in a different way than the menu stated. When asking my server why the item was different she gave me 2 different stories, both of which were lies. She just gave us an answer so we would stop bothering her I’m sure. In the end the manager could not have cared less as well as the chef that we were dissatisfied. Thank goodness it was restaurant week and I only paid $ 30 for 3 courses instead of $ 30 for the pork chop alone.

Totally not worth the money. Considering that they’re charging the equivalent of Laury’s, Chop House and other high end restaurants, the atmosphere is loud and cafeteria-like. The $ 38 steak was tough as leather, and when we pointed this out, the waitress rudely tried to lecture us on grass-fed meat being leaner. Um, I’ve had grass-fed steaks that were plenty tender, thanks. Nor did the manager bother to visit our table after the complaint, which should be SOP. The other dishes were decent, which saves the review from being one-star, but the rude, patronizing treatment guarantees we won’t be going back.

Not impressed! The food and the service were horrible. If they are going to charge the prices that they charge, then they need to make some major changes! I will not be going back to this establishment.

Sandy, thanks for the response. The day that i finally had enough was Friday the 30th. There was a young, dark haired male(i assume he was a) barback doing absolutely nothing, another skinny dark haired bartender with a narrow mustache talking and not paying attention to the bar tables ATALL and another guy standing and chatting re whatever sport was on TV with a patron. Plus there was a female server chatting on and off with the bartenders as well. Friday’s after work were when i would usually go — and I usually dropped $ 50-$ 100 in just drinks. Sitting for 5 minutes with an empty glass is simply unacceptable«service» and if you don’t have serious table service, don’t have tables in your bar area. I am familiar with the music venue you facilitate and the«snobby» was pertaining your staff’s overall attitude, not the clientele. I cannot tell you the number of times that we arrived at 4 and had to chase someone down every time we wanted a drink, or the number of times we’d been there for an hour or two and were constantly having to walk to the bar for service — all while watching your staff goof off; or worse — be treated condescendingly when asking if we can get service. Frustratingly, your servers/bartenders were usually just chatting, laughing and watching the TV and NOT helping us or other customers. Regardless, I refuse to continue spending my money at such a pricey place and receive such piss-poor service. I wish you well and hope no one else experiences service like this there. I sincerely hope your staff learns the value and importance of customer service.

I heard that the owner died and this place was taken over by someone else… well, it’s went all downhill from the last few times we visited. When you spend $ 100 or dinner, you expect it to be right and nothing was right. My drink I ordered, an Old Fashioned with Smooth Ambler Old Scout, was poorly made and didn’t taste right which is messed up when you pay $ 12 for a drink. My steak was horrible, and cooked wrong, sides tasted plain and were lukewarm. We went with another couple and they had similar concernes versus another time they dined here. Service was slow and table service was worse. At least they still take reservations, but we had to park far far away, how about a valet? A valet goes inline with what they charge. The only good thing about our last experience was the cheese plate… overpriced but very good. We won’t be back as we’ve given it more than once chance.

I only go here when someone else is paying because it is pricey. In my experience, the food can be great(previous offerings of Jamaican pork loin and fried goat cheese salad, more recent chipotle corn chowder), okay(grilled romaine salad), or it tastes like it came from the freezer(fried wontons). I have only had service in the bar area, which sometimes gets very busy with too few employees to handle it.

I’ve only eaten here once, but my experience was excellent. My waitress was nice and personable. And the food was excellent. I had the buffalo burger, a dish I didn’t expect to find in West Virginia, and it was very yummy. Would definitely eat here again. Plus is that it’s in a cute little shopping district with fun shops. Just wish there were more of them!

Service sucked. Food was great. Bartender was my server. He was more interested in the social scene around the bar. Finally another server took my order. The salad with dried cranberries was very good. I had the grouper prepared Mediterranean style and it was delicious. I could not finish all the orzo and artichoke hearts. Suggest you flash a Platinum AMEX or a wad of cash to get the server’s attention. If you’re really lucky, you’ll go with someone the server knows and not get ignored that way. I finally snagged another server to request my check after waiting far too long for it.

Most likely the best high-end restaurant you’ll find in Charleston. The Bistro is expensive, snooty, crowded — and the food is great. You’ll definitely want to start off with their signature BRB Chips, which are served warm and may be my favorite part about this place. All of their food is good(though, as always, Charleston is not exactly the best place to get fish), and they have a fair selection. The Bistro is pricey, and they’re loathe to let you forget it. I can’t quite explain it, but the air is slightly cloying, and the feeling of being sized up never quite left me during my meal, as good as it was. It is by no means an intimate place; rather cluttered with decorations, and the wait staff is very professional. I suspect that the manager has tried very hard to create an «atmosphere.» Unfortunately, it gives the impression of a very fancy lunchroom; as good as the food is, I’m always slightly relieved to leave.
