Got the slider sampler. All the burgers were really dry, the buns were old and stale. The fries were pretty good, and the pork BBQ nochos were good. I would probably not come back here again, at least not for the burgers

Had a really great lunch here. the tomato basil soup was really good though super thick almost like a tomato sauce but I had a really nice flavor. Server was pretty nice and attentive. I had the venison burger with a fried egg it was good the bun was the best part the venison is very finely ground. They crisped up the edges of the bun just right. The burger could use a good sauce on it or something. The atmosphere and music in the place is good. They had a lot of good sounding menu items I wish I could try more. Pizzas, burgers, wraps, really interesting salads.

I am so disappointed because this place has potential. My two-star review is indicative of my ENTIRE experience. I will say that the food is great. However, it isn’t enough to get my business again. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired(not isolated to this visit). The waitress that sat us(short, blonde girl) was not friendly at all. I actually felt like I was bothering her by giving the restaurant my business. This was actually my second interaction with her and both times the experience was the same. After that it took over five minutes for my family and I to get our drink order taken. I would normally be more okay with if the place is busy. This place was not busy. I actually noticed the same waitress that sat us texting on her phone as we were waiting to get our drink order taken. It was laughable. Why on earth would you seriously stand in front of a table texting when you sat them and you know a drink order hasn’t been taken??? Our actual waitress was pretty nice. Food came out timely and was delicious. I had the bison burger and I loved it. The fries that came out were not very appealing though. It appeared that I got the bottom of the bunch. Not really a big deal though. While we were eating, I looked up to see the cook texting on his phone which I didn’t care for. If you are going to have an open cooking area tell your employees not to text in front of customers. It’s actually quite disgusting considering people’s phones go with them everywhere… Also, I don’t know if the A/C was malfunctioning, but it was unbelievably hot and muggy inside. Again, I think the food here is great, but after back-to-back visits of poor customer service I will not be back. It’s a shame, but I refuse to be treated poorly when I go to a restaurant.

Smallish eatery with great ambition. We had the ahi tuna nachos and Highway 12 pizza. Both were very tasty and creatively presented. Waitstaff is somewhat attentive and the mix of patrons is quite eclectic. I had a sampling of the No. 9 and Sierra Nevada beers… the No. 9 was delish and actually paired well with our plates. I was fond of the comfy couch placed conveniently close to our table. and even retired to it whist awaiting the nachos and pizza. PRO: very good food, fairly casual/neat dress, good tunes, decent $ CON: overall small amount of seating(all wooden tables, some tall, few not)

We were visiting my folks and wanted a night out without the kids, at the recommendation of some friends we decided to go here. We called to see if they took reservations, they didn’t, but said they were open. So we drove downtown, found and paid for a place to park and then walked to the restaurant. Not sure if it has two entrances, but there are definitely entrances on both sides of the building. The one we first went to was locked and there were people eating inside, so we walked to the other side and went in. Someone came up and told me that they were closed for a private party. I told the person this was total BS as I had just called an hour ago. We left and went to Lola’s where we weren’t disappointed.

Their Best Item is Sweet Potato Fries. Even if you don’t like Sweet potato fries you will love these! Also their burgers are outstanding! Bison burgers with so many variations and they cook them to their correct temperature. Out standing Small bar and grill.

It was our first time to visit. The menu is unusual for a small looking restaurant. Where else can you get jerked duck quesadillas? The food was very good and Chessie, our waitress did an excellent job. My only suggestion is to add a crusty dinner roll to the menu. It’s very welcoming and apart from the mushy rolls served by the big chains. It would have been useful with the seafood linguini.

I am a biased reviewer when it comes to food, since i have spent quite some time living in Chicago which in my mind is the food mecca of the USA. I have been living in Charleston WV for a few months now, and have found the food and drink scene somewhat sub par. I was recommended Vandalia Grille by some peeps. I did some online research and found some unflattering reviews of there service. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to have a very attentive waiter and prompt with out being rushed service. Now the food and drink. I ordered a makers on the rocks with a lime wedge and my lady wanted to know the beer list(bad reviews said no list) there is no list, but waiter knew all beers and about them. I agree a beer list would be nice, but at least he knew the beers. when they came my bourbon was a very healthy pour for a nice price. The food was very good. I had a Aloha burger. This was the best burger I have had in this state by far. It was nice pink in the middle with a nice crisp outside. The lady had some veggie small plate contraption that i can not recall the name, but damn was it good. I soaked up all the sauce and leftovers when she was done. Will go back many times while i have to call Charleston WV home for the next couple years!

Easy to find and free parking across the street. Our server is nice to look at but clueless … no clue what they have for beer, which is bottle only. Menus are ratty bit offer a nifty variety. The tables are sticky. Got the mango duck quesadilla — good but could’ve been hotter(waitress problem) Also got the bobo burger — excellent — and a side of sweet potato fries — perfect! This place doesn’t present well but the food is worth returning for.

Great menu! Wide variety with healthy foods. Salads with walnuts & beets & goat cheese with the option of topping it with chicken or salmon. They do a great job cooking the salmon!

FOOD: My favorite menu items included the Mediterranean Salad(roasted veggies, feta cheese, dressing on the side) topped with salmon or chicken, the ahi tuna wrap, and the Colorado(buffalo burger topped with cheese and sauteed onions). DRINK: Their sangria is popular, but I always stuck with wine or a simple mixed drink(vodka/soda). SERVERS: Harry is awesome. He is full of energy and humor. Mike and Laura are also good! While Vandalia’s food was almost always good, the service was generally SLOW. I often recommend this place to people, so it is embarrassing when they would go and report back that hey had to wait over an hour just to get food. I’m surprised the management has not taken measures to improve this part of their reputation, as it seems to have stayed the same for years. Anyhow, as long as you aren’t in a hurry, sit back, enjoy a drink, and some yummy food! :)

We were directed here by a local when the sushi joint had an hour wait. SOGLADTOBEPOINTEDINTHISDIRECTION! The menu was right up my alley… I would have gladly ordered anything. We settled on an array of omnivore tapas… Filet, crab, chix, duck… And every one rocked. Staff was friendly, martinis were HUGE!!! Only here on business but would love to come again if I’m in the area. This place belongs along side the best in Philly. ;)

I have been visiting Charleston(for work) for the past 3 years. For the past 3 years, I have tried Vandalia Grille for lunch, and for the past 3 years, I have been extremely disappointed! On my most recent visit, I ordered the autumn salad to start with followed by the sliders for my entrée. While eating the autumn salad, I happened to look at my fork… good thing I did… there was a HAIRBALL wadded up in the goat cheese. Just the thought of that makes me nauseated to think about now! Additionally, the sliders were dry and uneventful. I also felt sick the rest of the day after eating there, could be poor food quality or just the mental image of the HAIRBALL in the goat cheese(probably both), but either way, this was my FINAL time trying to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. It’s disgusting! My co-workers were not impressed with their meals either. One of them couldn’t even finish his burger b/c it was so dry and tasteless. *Note: the server was actually very apologetic about the hair and did comp my meal, but this place is just so bad I couldn’t give it more than a single star. With all the good restaurants Charleston has to offer like, Blossom Dairy, Soho’s, Blue Grass Kitchen, Lola’s, Tricky Fish, etc, it is just so much easier to go somewhere else and actually enjoy your meal!

Menu is reasonably-priced and interresting. I am a big fan of the salads, sweet potato fries with dipping sauces, and butternut squash soup. Ahi tuna wrap is also VERY good, so is Island Shrimp Salad. Have tried the duck quesadillas, which were pretty good, and the salmon pizza, and would order both again. Drinks are a little pricey for this market, and they don’t have a wide selection of craft/micro beers. Wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. Be prepared to smell like fryer grease when you leave, as the kitchen is open to the dining area and the hoods don’t seem to get all the fumes coming off the fryers.

Food was disappointing, especially for the price. Service was poor and they bungled our orders. What was strangest though was this restaurant’s kitchen ventilation system doesn’t seem to work, so all the smoke from the grill blows out into the restaurant. It was literally hazy inside.

So I looked at the menu that I found online before meeting up with some friends. That being said the menu has changed and when I asked if they could make something off the old menu they looked at me like I was an idiot. Now online this is presented as a Spanish restaurant. That being said the new menu has taken off pretty much all the real Spanish food. Which is a shame but understandable. So the food is Delicious. I loved it very much all my friends loved it. There was not enough wait staff and the waiter was funny but rude at the same time. Not a big fan of the employees but the food was amazing. Kudos to the chef.

This spot is brand new, and the menu wasn’t even finalized when I visited, so I imagine it’s just going to get better! Like Sadorra’s other establishments, this restaurant offers creative, fun food with a casual-yet-stylish atmosphere. This is the sort of place I would expect to find tucked away in the West Village in New York City, or something like that. It’s definitely not like anything else in Charleston, West Virginia — but isn’t too pretentious for those who just want a quick lunch. I ordered tapas with a few friends, and we all really enjoyed our dishes. We tried the curried salmon and chicken lettuce wraps from the tapas menu. We also tried the artichoke heart pizza and sweet potato fries with citrus dipping sauce. I can honestly say that I loved everything I tried. I’ve had the lettuce wraps at other restaurants, but these were a little different. All the ingredients seemed very fresh, and the sauces were perfect. I didn’t know what to expect with the curried salmon, but I think it’s my new favorite dish. I am very picky with salmon, and this was cooked exactly the way it should be. The sauce had a nice, but not overpowering curry taste. Very nice! I am going back this weekend before checking out a theater performance, and am really excited to see the finalized menu. I hope there are a few new things, as the menu was quite small(although very interesting!) the other night. I left one star off because there is room to improve, but I’m a big fan of Sadorra’s restaurants, and know that this one will grow into itself within a very short time.
