First Watch

Love this place! I didn’t know it was a chain for the longest. Thought it was our own little spot in Charleston. I have enjoyed it here at home and now seek it out when we travel. The coffee is always good and the food is always fresh. It’s hard to decide what to get each time, love the new juice blends.

Nice downtown breakfast place — yummy juice options with a decent spread of eggs based and other breakfast dishes.
The fresh juices are what one should definitely try out here!

Food was good. They have a decent menu and the food tastes good. Our waitress was somewhat cold and not too attentive, but if your a regular they are really nice to you I noticed. It was our first time eating there, and we’ll try again. We got the eggs Benedict and they put a ton of hollandaise sauce on it, which kind of overpowered everything else. Really enjoyed the fruit cup. The toast was seedy though and on the crunchy side due to it being literally whole grain.

The best place in town for Breakfest or brunch. Friendly staff.

No matter what I order, I am never disappointed. The perfect breakfast or lunch spot! Great food at great prices.

It’s everything you expected it to be. Without a doubt the best restaurant in town. ‘No instant grits here. ‘Very family driven, the waitresses hustle, open early, and immaculately clean.

On vacation in Charleston, WV this past December, this appeared to be the best rated place on Unilocal for breakfast in downtown. I’d always heard good things about the chain in other cities so we figured why not.
Turned out to be a good choice! Just a few hiccups here and there…
When we walked in, a patron on their way out handed us an unused coupon for 15% off a meal. Awesome!
The coffee is amazing! No film, no bitterness, just smmmooottthhh caffeine. They have sugar in the raw, too! And they have more than just generic cream cups. Yes, hazelnut coffee at a restaurant for once!
The kid’s cocoa was a bit watery. The kid’s grilled cheese had actual cheese on it instead of Kraft ‘cheese product slices’ and arrived melty and warm.
Silverware was forgotten and the server… the server was a bit off his rocker, tbh. He also disappeared after we asked for to-​go cups and we never saw him again. Also, the bathrooms were… junky. Doors swung all sorts of ways, toilets placed strangely and rocked, gaps were too big between panels…
The food arrived in an acceptable time frame and all was well until I went looking for a knife and then found it UNDER all of my food. Like, knife on the plate first, then toast and salad, then egg, then sauce/​dressing. I got the Benedict special they had running. It was good once I took the knife out. Hah.

Good service, simple décor and simple but tasty, healthy food options.
We both ordered the Pesto Chicken Bowl.
A bed of perfectly cooked quinoa topped with grilled chicken, kale and creamy pesto. It was light, a perfectly small portion, and tasty.
I give it a three because the atmosphere is just… well, like a chain. I’d rather eat local or at the least in a place that has some personality.

The menu has some great breakfast and brunch items as well as some healthy stuffs for good lunch. I have come here a few times and every time satisfied with their dish. Recently I came here around couple minutes past noon on weekday, and then waited for about 10 minutes a table for three. So, If you arrived 12:00 ish, you might end up waiting for a little while for seating even though it’s on weekday or weekend. Though you might not need to wait, because this restaurant is in WV.
The portions are not huge and although it may seem a little bit pricey, but I think that their food is worth the price and a little wait.

In town visiting family for Christmas; decided to try this place out. DELICIOUS. I had the Chicken Palermo sandwich and clam chowder. The sandwich was a great combination of flavors and the clam chowder… best I’ve found outside of Boston. Husband had an omelet that he raved over as well. We will be back on our next visit!

It was nice to be brought back to when I lived in the south with this dish. I can’t wait to visit my customer down here again.

When visiting family in Charleston, my husband and try to get to First Watch. The line might appear lengthy on the weekend, but it’s a large enough restaurant where you don’t have to wait long.
They have an impressive selection on their menu. This past weekend I selected coffee, a fresh pressed juice (only $ 3.99 for a big one) and the Caps, etc. I love mushrooms so opted for the Caps, etc. for my meal. I was excited to see my plate when Beverly placed it in front of me; a whole bowl of house roasted crimini with a little melted cheese on top. Next to the bowl, eggs and seasoned potatoes. I highly recommend that one!
Omelettes are big and service is good. They have a nice website with their menu on it too.

I’m kind of glad the place we wanted to go ended up being closed. We plugged breakfast into the trusty Unilocal search bar and it pointed us here.
There’s parking on the street, but there’s an actual lot available for patrons of this restaurant directly across the street as well. We walked in and had no idea what to do. lol This place is pretty popular and I totally get why, but we were straight doe in headlights for a second there. Turns out, the bar seating over in the corner is first come, first serve and otherwise you put your name on the list and wait. There weren’t any seats available at the moment, so we put our name on the list for a 20 minute wait. About 5 minutes in, two seats at the bar opened up and we moseyed on over.
Our server was Amanda. She was very cordial and extremely good at interacting with all customers at the bar area. The food was bananas. Not actual bananas. Y’all know what I mean. I ordered the Key West Crepeggs: a crêpe with turkey, bacon, tomatoes and Monterey Jack cheese. It came with an English muffin and strawberry jam with fresh potatoes. The crêpe was light with crisp edges, just how I like it. I could have done with more bacon, but I think that’s always the case for me. The English muffin looked like it wasn’t as crispy as I like, but it actually had a really nice crunch and a delectable layer of butter on top. Yum! The potatoes were thoroughly cooked and seasoned well. The Fiancé got the Chickichanga and I barely got to get a corner, so I think he enjoyed it. lol I liked the bit I got to taste and I don’t even like avocado, so that’s saying something.
I think the price was comparable for the amount of food we received and the service was very good. Charleston, WV, we hardly knew ye, but we feel that we met one of your shining stars!

I wasn’t feeling too hot, so I didn’t try any of the wonderful things I wanted to. Just had a pancake bacon and eggs. Just… yummy! I heard this was a chain, but it doesn’t feel like one! Folks are nice. coffee is great! food is great! Going to come back! You can ask for real maple syrup also! Crucial, to me ever eating pancakes!

I’m giving 5 stars because the food is great! We had the 2 for You and it’s was perfect! The beefeater sandwich was made with home made meat. And forget the calories load up on the sauce!
Soups are superb. Bread incredibly fresh and soft.
Only bad note, location is a little shady and service is mediocre. But please go!

First Watch is my favorite place to eat.
It has a great atmosphere, the servers are all nice and friendly and the food is scrumptious!
Their Rubens are the best ever and oh my! their carrot cake pancakes are awesome! Love this place!

A healthy, if you choose that route, breakfast option. Croudded during typical times, so be prepared to wait 20 min. Very nice service and a very nice brunch selection.

Fantastic breakfast place. I had the Eggs Benedict which was very good. The prices are good and the location is close to where we stayed. Highly recommend it.

Decided to have breakfast here as I know how good First Watch is back home in Arizona. The lady at the register was very kind. I was sat shortly after arriving and was greeted by Victoria. She was very kind and I could tell would provide great service.
I ordered a cup of coffee and she quickly returned and took my order. My food came out shortly after.
All was going well until my second bite… See pictures attached. One nice long hair and one cute small hair.
Victoria came over and apologized and was very sincere. She offered another plate. I couldn’t do it due to my lack of appetite.
In the end I still ended up paying for my 1 cup of coffee weird. I left a small tip just to show my appreciation for the service that I did receive before the incident. It’s not her fault the cooks were careless in preparing my food.
Long story short. I won’t be coming back to this location ever! Inspect your food before diving into it.

Delicious!!! They have a lot of different breakfast options (omelets, quinoa bowls, pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict etc) and they all looked delicious! Everyone at our table left happy even though we all got different things.
I had the pumpkin breakfast with pancakes, eggs, and applewood chicken sausage, my husband got one of the omelets, and our friends got French toast and an egg breakfast bowl with avocado.
The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and the bathrooms were very clean. I like that they have different hot tea options, and the coffee was good too (they also have different flavor creamers).
I’d like to try it again for lunch sometime, the salad options looked yummy.
