Great place with 3 different bar areas. Hand cut fries are awesome. Pretzel was delicious and our bartender Dave was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

Great selection of beers! I really didn’t appreciate the bartender acting like it was a huge inconvenience to make me a liquor drink and then commenting about it to a coworker. My husband likes beer so that’s why we went there! I apologize for not ordering a beer and causing you extra work. I’d call you by name but I didn’t get that information. Simply put, anyone can pour a beer from the tap, but you are after all a BARTENDER. With that being said, after the grumbling, he did mix a delicious cocktail and enjoyed another. Just keep in mind, some of us are not college students sitting at your bar and that usually means we can tip better!!!

Was down in Charleston on business. Looking for a place to watch the Capitals on TV. Hotel concierge mentioned Charleston Beer Works. Told me it was the place to go to watch hockey and boy were they right. Can’t comment on food because didn’t have any(although the guy at the bar next to me had the tacos, and they were huge, and the night I went(Tuesday) they were 2 for $ 5), but beer selection is outstanding. Spent a couple hours at the bar and it was a blast. Bartender Dave was awesome, he new his beers and his hockey. All of the employees were extremely nice. Beer Works has three different bars, main floor, upstairs, outside patio. All looked fantastic, lined with beer taps. They are the only place in Charleston that has the Directv Hockey package so they get all the games, but are not limited to hockey. They also had basketball on and will, of course try to cater to whatever event you want to watch. Would highly recommend for the atmosphere, beers, and the cool staff(and it sure looked like for the food too).

Ok so two things to note before I begin: 1) I can really only comment about lunch(and a few happy hours) 2) It alwayd kind of makes me sad inside to see a dive bar die. There are just not enough places anymore who are really great dives …that said… The new beer works is a far cry from the old location. It’s like night and day. Where the old location was clearly designed to cater to the local undergrad population, the new location clearly is looking to tap into the emerging business crowd on upper king… and they do it very well! The beer selection(which was always great) is even better. Even more impressive is that the staff seems to be very familiar with the rotating menu and can always nail exactly what I want, even when I give just a rudimentary description! This is a good place to give a HUGE shout out to my man Zack: always on point with the service, the jokes, the recommendation and the beard! The food, if anything has only improved. I would say that even at their old location the food was always surprisingly good, it has only gotten better. I would love to say I recommend«X» or «Y» dish, but that would imply falsly that I have had something thst didn’t impress me. From the Buffalo Bowl to the Chicken Fingers(yes really) to the Tater-tots to the burgers… it’s all money! The ambiance is clean and bright. I cannot say that I love this because I personally want a bit of grunge in a regular bar… but I can say that I would feel very comfortable if my fiancée tole me she was coming here either alone or with a girlfriend. sooooooo I guess I can see where the new feel of the place kicks ass.

The new venue is awesome! Outdoor seating out back, the beer list is still huge and Happy Hour focuses on local beers! How do you not love a bar like that? The food we had was great and unique and the service was great! If you need a pint, you need to go here!

Delicious bar food and probably forty or fifty beers on tap. Many local brews available. Friendly service with a very knowledgeable bar tender. We just had appetizers — wings were great and a good size. Dump truck wedges good but spicier than I expected.
