Yum, I certainly love Italian ice! Every time I come to the low country I look for the these little carts so that I may indulge in this pleasant treat. The carts are located throughout downtown area and they usually have several flavors but my personal favorites are piña colada, and pineapple. They have small and large sizes, for a couple bucks so do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks on this worthy treat.

After a long hot day, Charleston Ice provided a refreshing, sweet retreat. I chose the mango flavor(the girl working the cart said she had mango, cherry, piña colada, blue raspberry, and strawberry), and it was really good! I’m not sure it’s the best Italian ice the world could offer, but I’d definitely come back at $ 5 a 6 ounce size cup. I would recommend this place to others. If you’re searching for one of these carts, look around downtown– we have seen them on Vendue and at Waterfront Park.

I’m a bit spoiled from the Italian ice I’ve had in Chicago, where I could taste the bits and chunks of fruit, but Charleston Ice was still quite refreshing. $ 5 for a pretty large cup of delicious mango goodness. Locations all around downtown.

We sampled some Charleston Ice from a little cart that was selling Italian ice at the Spoleto Festival. It was amazing so we bought two huge things of it and sat in the park and people watched while eating our ice. The flavors were very natural tasting and the texture was perfect. I want some right now. Couldn’t find them on Unilocal so maybe they only do private parties and events but it’s good enough that they could open store front locations if they haven’t already.
