Great atmosphere for Thursday night Blues by Shrimp City Slim. Chicken salad on croissant very good. Minor note for management– the metal stools/chairs are VERY uncomfortable everyone in my party moved or stood up to avoid them.

Ann Caldwell did a find job singing jazz standards with the Oscar Rivers Quartet. Good tapas bar food, friendly regulars at the bar, warm, welcoming owner. Right across the street from Pour House, an outdoor music patio bar with a different vibe but friendly clients.

My wife and I came here Sunday afternoon for some drinks as we had some time to kill before the movie next door. The bar is small, but has a nice welcoming artisan feel to it. We ordered a couple mimosas 2 each, and I also had a Moscow Mule. The Muke was done to perfection, one of the best I’ve tasted on a long time, but what really suprised me were the Mimosas. Now your probably asking what could have been so special about the mimosas? Well hinestlu, they are just regular ordinary mimosas, except they only cost $ 2.00 each. I was pretty excited to see that on the bill. We will def. Be coming back on Sundays to have a drink and relax.

I’ll start out by saying the music here is great. The Oscar Rivers Jazz Trio(or is it a quartet) is super talented and I will come back to How Art Thou again and again for that reason alone. As 3 stars reflects, this place is A-OK. It’s not bad, it’s not amazing. The look and feel of the place is a little off. Its cozy but still a bit impersonal… the décor is…“generic” is the kindest way I can say it. I haven’t ordered a lot of food there but the last time I was in there I was really craving a dessert. The waiter told me he had run out of the only dessert they had. Then I heard him offer it to the table next to me not 5 minutes later. That really chapped my ass. Their coffee drinks are alright too; almost every time I’m there they’re out of the beer I want. But to be fair, that happens to me everywhere I go. Helps me try new things I guess. Anyway — check it out. It is certainly unique on James Island and the music alone is totally worth going for. OH! I think they give you a discount if you present your ticket stub from the Terrace. At least they used to.

my wife snd i went to lunch here Sun afternoon. we were the only ones there to eat and we sat right down and was waited on right away. my wife order the mandarin orange salad with chicken, i order the bison meatloaf with a potato cake with a side of greens. our food came out quickly, what we noticed was how small the portions were! the food was delicious! the meatloaf was amazing but the greens were just ok. the mint yogurt dressing wasn’t very good. to be fair i don’t like yogurt, my wife finished my greens. now to the bill. the reason i gave the place four stars was the price of the food compared to what we received. my wife had a very small latte and that was 4.25 and my small iced tea was 2.50. i felt the food was over priced for what we received. don’t know if we will eat here again but it is a nice spot to chill out plus shrimp city slim plays here sometimes and he’s amazing! oh yeh, the restrooms were very clean and nice smelling, its one of those combo restrooms that i don’t like but it was ok. thought i would forget the restroom didn’t you? overall the folks were really nice and the food tasted good. so you decide.

Live jazz and wine?! Match made in heaven. It’s my favorite place to go after a long week. I just wish the band would take shorter breaks, or am I being selfish

We had a nice quiet drink with a meat and cheese board after our movie. It was a great day to sit outside and this place was a perfect place to stop. Great service and food.

As part of our first visit to the Charleston area my wife suggested we find a café or bar with live music and How Art Thou was the best rated and closest. Upon arriving we’re greeted by who I think was the owner then spoke to a gentleman leading a jazz trio playing that night! It was all very friendly and we lucked out incredibly on not only finding such a cool bar but such a warm reception, too. The jazz trio playing that night were fantastic and as we hadn’t had time to grab dinner we also got the tomato basil bruschetta(not that great) and the mushroom and goat cheese flat-bread(much better). The overall service was good and with it being a small place the ambiance is perfect.

Had a great experience! Ended up going here for some food because it was right next to the terrace theater movie theater. Happened to stumble upon that they were in the middle of Restaurant Week so we were able to choose 3 items off of the menu for $ 20! What a deal! We had the curry meatballs the white bean soup the beet salad and 2 glasses of wine(which were one of the choices) I also ordered a coffee with Baileys. Our server was the bartender and she was very gracious. Everything was really good the portions were a nice size also. Every now and then they have some live music or poetry or a revolving art show. It’s cute and quaint and they also have some seating outside. It’s a great place before or after a movie and or for a date! I will be back.

How Art Thou? Café has the best atmosphere & a delicious menu. The employees are extremely nice and accommodating. The owners love their business and do everything possible to make sure you love it too. My favorite items are the spinach & goat cheese flatbread, banana bread beer, & the breakfast burrito at brunch. Great local spot that you must try!

Went here for the first time last night with some friends to enjoy some good jazz, coffee, and appetizers. The jazz band Oscar was amazing! It’s so nice getting away from mainstream radio and seeing live, talented and gifted musicians. They also have a variety of events throughout the week like wine and beer tastings, and other musicians that come and play. Last night we ordered the Charcuterie plate(3 items for $ 14) My choice: A good chunk of Espresso Bellavitano(sharp cheddar), 26 month Gouda(smoother), and the Prosciutto which was really good, but I just wished it was sliced thinner instead of awkward, hard to eat half inch slices. Also, the sliced bread that came with the plate was a little tough. I wish it was more fresh or at least heated up. This plate also came with two accompaniments. I chose the house marinated green olives, and the fig and olive tapenade. The portions were a great value for the price and everything I picked was delicious. We also shared the the smoked salmon crostini $ 7(two pieces) that came with pickled onion and capers on the side. I love smoked salmon on almost anything so I really enjoyed this app. My drink of choice was a cappuccino which was well balanced. Bold, not too much milk, and a nice amount of foam. They also have a wide variety of beer and wine, and have a few selections on tap. The staff was very fast and friendly, everyone is so easy going that it’s easy to feel comfortable right away. Although the place is a little small, the atmosphere was great. The parking lot is small and there are other busy businesses within this complex so plan ahead. Overall this is a wonderful place to hang out, grab a drink, have a snack, listen to good music, and support local artists. I’ll be back!

I came for brunch on Saturday and it was about half full. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the $ 1 mimosas and free coffee with brunch is great. Great wine selection and unique food. There’s outdoor seating and seating if you want to do work or read and be left alone

We came here for lunch one day and realized they serve brunch on the weekends. We really enjoyed the food that we had that we decided to try the weekend brunch. I got french toast with fruit. It was very good. A little too thin but I think you need to use day old bread/stale bread to prevent the toast from being too mushy. We sat outside since it was a nice day and the server/bartender did come out a couple of times. We were in no rush since we knew he had customers inside as well. We could tell that he didn’t forget about us but he handled the crowd he had.

Well, I am a bit biased when it comes to this place bc I know the family that owns this place so I think this establishment can do no wrong! I know how much they love their customers and how hard they work! This place has a bit of everything: coffee, tea, wine, beer, snacks, sandwiches, music, and a great staff! Stop by and give this place a try! I am sure you will find something you like!

Went in with a friend in the early afternoon, the place was a ghost town but I enjoyed the art and really didn’t mind being left alone. The bartender must have been a manager of some sort as he mentioned that he designed the food menu. Helped us chose beers to pair with the food we ordered once we asked. I got the cheese plate which was pretty good. A touch bland besides the brie and bleu cheese. Had to grab out server when she went by again to name two of the cheeses since she never said which was which. I’d deffinitely go back, I mean, I do have to try the coffee right?

Friendly staff and decent beer selection. Great place to come for a beer or glass of wine after work. The food looks good but I have never tried it – always bad timing. They have live music everyday. The place is small but cozy. Ask your server about the history of this place.

This coffee, wine, beer, restaurant and bakery is the perfect experience for all ages. Monday offers half price wine bottles, Tuesday is beer tasting and most nights you will find live music. Now open at 6:30 for early workday coffee. Saturday is one dollar mimosas and two dollar bellinis. The staff is amazing. Totally amazing. Stop in once and you will keep coming back.
