Red Carpet is the place to be in Charleston. You can meet everyone you need to see in this city. Cali the cat is a loyal mascot! The beer is cold and the service is friendly. If you are lucky you will arrive in a Friday with karaōke.

The only thing keeping the Cartpet from being a perfect dive bar is the lighting and wall colors. That is, it’s too bright and the walls too white for a real dive. They have everything else down, though. Alcohol: they serve hard liquor to people who want to get drunk, fast. Big pours. Low cost. Beer? By the bucket. Jukebox: Internet based, with old country, older Sinatra and Elvis, and classic rock usually winning out over the latest Top 40. Darts: Yes. Poker/lottery machines: Game your paycheck away right by the bar! No Room of Shame here! Attitude: The bar staff doesn’t like you. This is not ironic detachment. They honestly do no care for you. They will sell and serve you drinks regardless. Patio: Smoke away outside in the sun. Mascot: Callie, a calico short hair cat, who wanders in and out at will, and may grace you with a leg rub if you’re lucky. In other words, the Carpet has it all.

Went here back in May 2013. Management is not very customer friendly. Can’t even have a good time and tell a few clean jokes about pussy cats with out getting asked to leave unreal!

A solid neighborhood establishment. Proximity to the Capitol in the East End of Charleston makes for a very eclectic and interesting crowd, with folks from all walks of life — great for people watching. Music on the jukebox reflects the eclecticism of the patrons. Too clean to be considered a dive– and that’s a good thing. The ladies at the bar run a tight ship, and drinks are very cheap(and strong). The most awesome thing about the Carpet is the sprawling outdoor patio, with a chill, summer BBQ type vibe.

Good friendly bar to go to. I can’t deal with crowds, so I like this place.

I have been to the Red Carpet Lounge on multiple occasions. I have always thought highly of the Red Carpet, it being one of my favorite/convent bars on the east end. However, I my feelings have completely changed after my last experience during St. Patrick’s Day so bad that I felt writing this review was necessary. While waiting to receive my drinks one of the group I was with got confronted in a very hostile manner by the bar manager. With no apparent reason after demanding to see the individuals I.D. which was valid ordered him to leave with no explanation. Aggressive in his language and gestures he verbally assaulted the whole group who was confused by the whole situation and we still don’t know why he was ordered to leave. Thankfully our night wasn’t ruined but I refuse to ever go back!

Le Rouge Carpet… the greatest, bestest dive bar in Charlie West!!! Every walk of life is at home here. Large open bar area and possibly the largest enclosed patio in the county… smoking is permitted outside. As folks have said Steak nights have been a tradition for 20 years or so and some folks are there every week. So if you are looking for the eclectic mix of life with a frayed edge, the Carpet is the place for you.

OMG! How have I not reviewed the carpet rouge?! It’s in my hood and I don’t go as often as I’d like/should. A few summers ago me and my crew were here nearly every single meat night(Thursdays they serve grilled steaks and chicken along w/homemade sides) and some weekends. Their patio because my second home/office. The service is stellar and hey’ve got most excellen prices on a great selecton of beers and stiff drinks. It’s the best(dive) bar in Charleston!

Every possible walk of life patronizes The Carpet. There are never any problems. Great service. Great prices. They also are great contributors to the community, hosting several charitable events each year!

Drunks, gamblers, hipsters, aging queens, politicos… this place has it all. The Red Carpet has the cheapest drinks, heaviest pours, most laid back clientele, and best divey atmosphere of any lounge in Charleston. Thursday nights they serve a steak buffet that I could only liken to a family reunion style picnic. Best bar in town for value, decent internet jukebox, darts, and lottery machines.
