This place is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is delicious, chips and salsa are delicious, and the drinks are extra delicious. We went on Valentine’s Day and had no wait. Our only semi-negative experience was a serving bringing us two Cokes before he took our drink order. No big deal to many but we don’t drink soda and didn’t want to pay $ 4 for something we didn’t want to drink. Other than that, Señor is awesome!

We love Señor Tequila! We have been going there regularly for almost a year. The food is so delicious and it is a fun atmosphere. Mario is an amazing server who is so friendly. Definitely recommend this place for Mexican food.

‘Love this restaurant! As soon as you walk in your greeted by staff and are welcomed in by bright colors on the walls and throughout the restaurant! I had the huevos rancheros with flour tortillas(they give you the choice of flour or corn tortillas) and my husband had the carnitas. I was very impressed by how authentic their food is! Upon arrival, they give you complimentary warm chips and salsa(very good salsa) and offered us lemon in our water! Their Margaritas were pretty good and their food is decently priced(entrees are about $ 8-$ 10). My experience here was amazing! I can honestly say that I am glad I stumbled upon this restaurant on my own accord because if I had looked at some of the reviews beforehand, I would’ve been a bit nervous! The only negative thing I have to say is that there was a bit of a language barrier between us and our server but we managed to get on the same page(she got out orders correct)! If you’re wondering about this restaurant I would say, give it a try! Their service was fast and we enjoyed ourselves!

Food was not fresh… we had to ask 3 times for some things. The food also was not hot. The service was also terrible they act as though they are doing you a personal favor to take your order!

I’ve eaten here several times since moving to Charleston. As good as it’s going to get around here for Mexican food but still terrible. Tonight’s service was nonexistent. Which is hard to figure out since our waiter stood about five feet from our table almost the entire time. Never had our drinks refilled and they forgot parts of our meal. which is the only time the waiter was no where to be found. Hard to eat fajitas without tortillas. Bland and tasteless. My kids love Mexican food and are not ones to complain at restaurants asked not to go there again.

Immediately walking in, I felt the authentic Mexican atmosphere. The service was quick and very attentive. The salsa is just the right amount of spicy. The bean chorizo nachos came in hot and swept me into the winds of Charleston. It’s electric, eccentric, and it’s señor tequila. No brainer.

Ok, so when my friends first said they wanted to take me to Señor Tequila’s I thought there are a million other places I’d rather go in Charleston than a chain… but, that’s where they wanted to go and it’s close to home, so I went. It has now become a Sunday night tradition to gather at Señor Tequila’s, order margaritas and chorizo dip and hang out. The margaritas are huge(we get the medium) and the service for us has always been really good. Mario is our favorite server, he’s funny, friendly, and makes sure our drinks are always good to go. When the weather allows we sit outside, enjoy margaritas, chips and salsa/dip, and friends. Plus, parking is easy and it’s in West Ashley, which for us is close to home. If you like Margaritas, check it out. I can’t speak for their«real» food, as I’ve never tried it… but who needs food when you have margaritas that fill you up right? Ha!

I still like Señor Tequila, but I don’t feel like it’s 5-star Mexican cuisine. I still go there often and most of the time, I’ve had good experiences. They did recently change the menu and the prices have gone up, and some items I really liked are no longer there. We visited today and I ordered the shrimp quesadilla. I asked if veggies came in the quesadilla, and when the server said it was only shrimp, I asked them to add some. When we got the check, we discovered it’s $ 4 for some broccoli, a piece of cauliflower, and a few carrots and squash. I wouldn’t be so upset about this if they’d told me instead of assuring us it was okay. I’d hate to see the quesadilla without the veggies because it didn’t contain a ton of shrimp. It was also awkward when our food came. The server brought out the hot salsa, then later on brought out mild one(I thought the house salsa seemed extra spicy). The server didn’t bring us silverware before our entrees, so we had to sit there with our food and wait for it. Señor Tequila is still okay for Mexican in West Ashley.

Good burrito. Ok chips, ok salsa, ok Margarita. Bad service. I was hoping this place would be good enough to replace Don Patron in my heart and stomach. It wasn’t able to. I would go again though.

Tried the shrimp fajita quesadilla while my fiancé had the steak quesadilla. The shrimp fajita quesadilla had decent sized shrimp, plenty of green peppers like I asked, and was good in size. Really delicious! It was a busy night and the food still came out fast. We also had the large margarona which caused me to go straight home lol. I love that their happy hour is until 8pm.

Enjoyed it! A wide variety of food — more than many Mexican places we’ve been to. The food was excellent and flavorful — not like many of the mass-produced Mexican places. The pork carnitas were especially good. Service was awesome and everything was nicely priced. Really enjoyed and plan on coming back again.

My wife will kick me for this review. When I lived in Charleston, and was a vegetarian, we ate here all the time. Cheap beer, cheap bean and cheese dip, and cheap vegetarian combo meals, but I just don’t get it now. My wife has dined here since they opened. She gets the same thing every time(Quesadilla Roja). I’ve tried it. Still don’t get it. I’ve gone back to my vegetarian meals, and now I’m just like ewe. I got the spinach burrito or quesadilla not sure which it was. I got an entire brick of frozen spinach folded in a wrap. It was awful. I tried something new Friday, the picture was beautiful thick corn doughy looking bottom with pork on top, with onion, cilantro and sliced avocado. I got fried corn tortilla with greasy meat on top, with guacamole not sliced avocado. It was awful!!! I’d say I’ll never return, but this is a place my wife will go till they close.

On a recommendation from a friend we came here and got the tacos al señor. This is a huge plate. My wife and I share one order and I’m usually bursting when we leave. I don’t know if anything else on the menu is worthwhile but these tacos(a combination of carne asada and chorizo I believe) are really dang tasty. My friend eats the whole plate himself but I need to ask if he is in pain afterwards. I’m unable to comment on anything else but we’ve had these tacos probably 8 times and it’s been consistent except for one time it wasn’t quite as huge as normal and my stomach didn’t threaten to rupture but it was still enough food for my wife and I. We combine for 300 pounds, to give you an idea of how much we might eat, and it’s not an even split…

This place has really fast service and tasty, run of the mill Mexican food. Their ACP is my favorite in town. Check them out.

They offer delicious and authentic Mexican fare from chilaqueles to enchiladas to tostadas and beyond. They also serve a nonalcoholic beverage called horchata upon request which is delicious. Of couse their margaritas and other various drink choices are awesome as well. I also like their desserts, especially their sopapilla. The atmosphere of the restaurant very much reflects various aspects of Mexican culture with appropriate decorations throughout and Mexican music playing in the background. They also offer outside seating which is fun and has enabled us to bring our dogs to sit beside us during many meals.

Food is ok, service poor. Seemed as though the servers were aggravated to be serving us. I don’t think I will be returning!

Exactly what you expect from a place named señor tequila. You’ll get chips and salsa when you sit down. You’ll get fatty, delicious refried beans with that white cheese on top as a side. Service will be meh. My 3 tacos were large, asada, pastor and chorizo filled, on corn tortillas with lime, cilantro and onion– proper. Props for not just serving white-boy-tacos. Mine was tasty. My girlfriend got the veggie taco salad in a tortilla bowl, which was soupy and pretty bland. She wasn’t impressed, but she did order a pretty silly item for this type of place. Home made hot sauce was nice, with a little zip to it. One gripe: the huge menu had prices next to every item, except for any alcoholic beverage. Like you’ll forget to consider(or just won’t care, after a few) how much your booze costs. An intentional, tacky move on the menu. But whatever, we will be back!

We rolled into Charleston starving, picked up my son from Citadel, and took his recommendation for Mexican. This place is fairly typical Mexican fare. Chips, Salsa, cheese dip, all meet acceptable standards to gorge on before the meal. They gave us plenty of chips and refills. The menu, standard, with just about as much cheese, tortilla, and meat as you can stand. I got a steak quesadilla, which was stuffed with steak. Three of us ordered this same thing. It was tasty. One of my daughters got the enchilada, rice, beans. Pretty standard. Margarita’s also pretty good, but nothing to rave about. One thing, this place was packed, but we got in quickly. They had some outside seating also. Overall, not a bad place, but typical.

Make sure your waiter speaks English, else you may be waiting a long time for your food. This time, my food got cold before I received the rest of what I ordered. ‘sorry’ does not cut it when your food is cold. Teach your staff English… Frank G

Jimmy at the register is always friendly and ready to help. He’s been there forever. The staff is friendly. I have yet to have a bad experience here. Prices are very reasonable as is the case for most of the Mexican restaurants I have eaten at. I had the Pollo Fondido which was crunchy fresh considering it was covered with nacho cheese. Their tomatoes always look and tastes fresh out of the garden. I usually do not eat Mexican rice until I tried it here. Now it’s one of my favorite sides.
