Spacecraft Studios

Came here for a sewing class the other day and had a wonderful experience! I feel like I learned a ton and the class was super inexpensive. Plus, we got to make birds (put a bird on it), which made me feel like a total professional. I really hope they offer classes about reading patterns and doing more advance sewing techniques so I can start sewing my own clothing and home décor!

Took the lino printmaking class and fell in love with the process as well as this charming little studio that has inspired me to make more cool stuff. Spacecraft Studios is tucked in a little alcove of Avondale amongst funky restaurants and bars– so you can grab dinner and drinks before or after a class if you want. Easy-​going atmosphere, fun instructor, and there’s an artist market inside filled with awesome stuff. Great vibe– totally going to take another class.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am this place exists. From the moment I step on the stoop until I go to bed that night I feel inspired and ready to make stuff. They offer a wide range of classes (everything from embroidery to bike repair), and the place is stocked with all kinds of inspiration, including a library and vintage magazine collection. Spacecraft also sells a few goodies in case you can’t make a badass block printed card yourself before you need to send it out.
I just did a linocut class with Kristen and it was so_​much_​fun. They pretty much had to kick me out because I didn’t want to stop. She was a great instructor and provided all the right supplies for our class project.
