Great place on Johns Island for breakfast or brunch! Great food, great service. My only advice: get there early! The place fills up fast. I’ve tried a number of items on the menu including their omelettes and Hungry Howie breakfast platter. All delicious, non-greasy, and fresh! P. S. Get the grits whatever you do! With a bit of pepper jack cheese melted into them, they have a slight bite. So delicious!

I had the Texas stack and it was great. It is Texas toast topped with grits, bacon, and cheese eggs. We also tried the hash which was also incredible. Friendly staff was also a plus.

Order the Grits Bowl. It is tasty and filling without feeling stuffed after. The bread for the toast was thick and fresh. Yum!

This place was recommended by multiple people during our visit. My family and I decided to try it on the way to Bluffton. By no means am I judging it based on looks. The hospitality and service was great, but the food was just mediocre. Maybe it’s what we ordered? I split the Texas Stacker and fruit with my boyfriend and it was underwhelming. My mom’s ham slice was like rubber. It’s definitely a cute local place with loyal patrons so maybe we just came on an off day.

My friend brought me a breakfast sandwich from here one morning and I fell in love with it! Every time that friend comes to visit, I ask for the ‘fancy’ breakfast sandwich. The bread is called a bagel but it is unlike any bagel I’ve had — it is chewy yet really soft in the middle. Today, another friend and I were in Johns Island and when we passed Sunrise Bistro around lunch, I told her all about that sandwich — so we turned around and went in! It’s not much to look at from the outside but it is pretty cute and roomier than I thought on the inside. Service was fast and super friendly. They were out of plain bagels and ran out of everything bagels as we gave our order, but we were able to snag the bacon, egg and cheese on sesame bagels. Just as good as the plain of course. I think I would eat this sandwich everyday if I could! I will definitely return so I can try some other items.

This place is not somewhere that will draw you in from the street. It’s in a little strip mall and nothing on the outside looks special. Despite appearances, this place offers some good eats and I personally really like that I can grab my own coffee and I don’t have to wait for someone to come back and fill my cup. This time I tried the grit bowl. It actually worked out well because I wasn’t super hungry. If you’re really feeling hungry I would go with the shrimp and grits. It’s a bigger portion. The grits bowl has some veggies, ham and bacon in it and doesn’t leave you feeling like you just gorged yourself. I didn’t look super close when ordering, as I generally don’t like ham, but it wasn’t bad in this. Was the grit bowl something I would order again… sure, if I wasn’t that hungry and specifically wanted something not huge. Was it amazing good… no, but it wasn’t bad at all.

This place provides a good lesson on not judging a place by it’s outside appearance. We were looking for a place that offered breakfast and lunch. We were visiting the area and I was craving a traditional breakfast with eggs, potatoes etc. This place has it all and it’s delicious food at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend stopping in and giving them a try.

This was my second visit to Sunrise Bistro. My first visit was to get a to go order. This time, a friend and I decided to go on Saturday morning for breakfast. There were several groups waiting for tables when we arrived. I was surprised there were so many awaiting tables as there were two empty, and three waiting to be bussed. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt-they seemed understaffed. However, they could have organized/informed better. It was confusing to know where to check in. A girl behind the counter finally asked if we had our name on the list. We stood and waited, and soon after our arrival, others were seated. After about 10 – 15 minute wait, we sat at the bar. I ordered the Omelette special, and my friend ordered the Smoked Salmon on bagel. Both were absolutely delicious. The omelette was cooked to perfection, and had delicious ingredients-chorizo, Monterey Jack, peppers, and more. My friend’s smoked salmon was perfect. Lots of salmon, delicious cream cheese and a fresh bagel. The timing of food delivery was good considering that they were so understaffed. Our server was very sweet, and helpful. The only reason that I’m giving 4 stars is that the welcome was not excellent, and the service could have been better with more staff. I plan to go back soon to give them another look!

This place is seriously amazing. My wife and I have been a couple times so far. Do not be fooled by the sign or the lack of fancy construction; this place is pure gold. The inside is clean, elegant, and smells pretty much like heaven. Everything we’ve ordered so far has been perfect. everything we’ve seen other people get has made us jealous. Prices are reasonable and surprisingly low. The food looks just like the pics posted; the taste is even better than the looks. Just do it.

Past time to review this place considering we eat here probably 2 or more times a month! This is our go-to place for breakfast and apparently for a lot of other people too! I have loved everything I have tried including specials but I must make a note about the Corned Beef Hash it’s phenomenal! Also the Everything Bagel is my favorite for the breakfast sandwich! Jessica the owner is always so nice and personable when we see her as is all her staff.

One of the best breakfast restaurants I’ve been to. Not a fancy place but varied menu with many homemade dishes. Lunch items available too– we had one breakfast and one lunch. My corn beef hash was a crispy skillet-like dish with potatoes, peppers, onions, and pieces of corned beef. Excellent. Other dish was a chicken quesadilla which was also very tasty. Specials included shrimp and crab dishes which sounded good too. Friendly and helpful service too. Look forward to returning.

Sunrise Bistro is a hidden gem, far far away from the hustle and high prices of downtown Charleston. For my breakfasts I had corned beef hash and sampled my boyfriend’s 3 meat shrimp and grits. Corned beef hash was probably not as yummy as I had hoped, although quite a treat. In my opinion, there was not enough corned beef and too many onions. 3 meat shrimp and grits was super yum. I loved that they did not go cheap on the gravy. Although it wasn’t exactly a gravy, it was more of a southern flavored queso sauce. In either case absolutely delicious.

I have eaten here a few times, food Is ok, but the coffee is always cold, or not hot enough. It is kept in containers that just keep it warm. You also have to get your own. Bacon is always greasy does not taste good. They seem to try and rush you out, I guess because it’s a small place. I may go back in a year or so, but no rush. Frank G

Try the Grits Bowl! It comes with sausage, bacon, ham, eggs, cheese, onions, peppers, tomato over grits. Super good! I added some hot sauce for effect.
