Pretty good. I have liked everything that I have ordered and nice staff.

Have had many a terrific meal at this place. Just showed up recently to an empty parking lot on a Tuesday at 6 pm — the place was closed — lights off — no sign The website states ‘Closed For Renovations’ with no indication of an planned reopening date. The voice mail at the restaurant makes no indication of the restaurant being closed.

Well, unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time I’ve visited this restaurant but it may be the last, for a while. Our service was remarkably slow and our food was cold. To boot, this was the second time their air conditioning wasn’t working so it was a sauna. Furthermore, the taste of the food left a lot to be desired. I gave them 3 stars because I thought 2 may have too harsh but it’s close…

My husband and I ate here before we moved to Charleston. It was the first restraunt we went to here. We still go atleast once every couple of month. The staff are except. The food is always good. They don’t have issues with special requests of food allergies. The atmosphere is open clean and refreshing, just like the people and the menu. One of our local favorites.

I have been here many, many times and never had a bad experience… until today. After 15 minutes they brought bread to the table, and I had to ask for it. We ordered then since the waiter seemed to only be able to stop by our table once every 15 or 20 minutes. Food eventually came out, just before I was going to eat my hand. My meal was poorly cooked. My friend asked if he could have his leftovers boxed up to go.10 minutes later, my friend had to go find the manager to find out what happened to his food since our waiter, surprise surprise, was nowhere to be found. The waiter had taken it in the back and it was thrown away. He offered a smaller portion of the meal to go, but my friend did not want to wait god knows how long for that. We asked if his meal could be removed from the bill, and the waiter got an attitude about it! Fortunately it was done and the manager apologized. Really poor experience from a typically solid restaurant.

Stopped in for breakfast. Did not expect how big this place is. Parking is in the strip mall next door. They have a small Outside area. People are nice, much food, and good. Was not too happy with the bacon, no taste. Have to try dinner there. Worth a stop. FrankG

I have so many positive things to say about this place. The ambiance is amazing, there is plenty of seating, the service is always awesome, the servers are very knowledgeable and timely, their desserts are made fresh every single day by a local, the food comes out quickly and it tastes so good. I go to this restaurant at least once a week and it is 25 minutes away from my house! If it were closer, I would go a few times a week for sure. I love everything about it. Their menu is very diverse and includes plenty of pasta, seafood me vegetarian meals as well. However, the dessert is the BEST! The only suggestion I would have for this establishment is for them to build one closer to my house so I could go there more.

I drive by here almost every day, and it only took me a few years to get around to coming here. The Mustard Seed is a pretty nice place. The restaurant has a very open and inviting feel to it, and the service was pretty good. It’s a nice place to have a relaxing dinner with the family or a group of friends. Their menu is pretty eclectic, so I wasn’t really sure about which direction to go for dinner that night. After a while, I decided to go with the eggplant parmesan special. I really enjoyed it, mostly because I love cheese and fried food. The breading was nice and crispy, however it was very greasy. I’m not sure if this is just how eggplant is or not, because every eggplant parmesan(All three of them. I know, I’m such a pro) I’ve ever had has been pretty greasy, but it tasted good anyway. I don’t remember what one member of our party had, but she was not pleased with it. For the most part, however, our table was satisfied but not blown away by the food. This isn’t a bad place to eat. I enjoyed it, but I really think they could do a little better. I’m a firm believer in second chances, so I’ll be back.

Good solid food, menu and service. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food. The bar could use a little work and the layout is slightly awkward but all in all this is a good place and you will enjoy yourself.

We always make this one of our stops while visiting Kiawah Island. Last night dinner was as usual great and Jennifer our server was spot on also. We have been eating here even back when they were in the smaller building next door.

Highly recommend this Charleston area restaurant. There are always several items on the menu that appeals to the whole family. The challenge becomes narrowing it down to what you’re going to order. It’s a given that we’ll eat here once each time we come to town.

We were a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. The food and service were fantastic!!! We had the swordfish and crab cake specials, both were perfect. We have family that just moved to the neighborhood, can’t wait to visit the Mustard Seed again!

A definite miss. I ordered the french toast which was drenched in syrup and not cooked through. I ate the crusts and one of the pears. Boyfriend had the Migas which had his stomach upset all day. Nothing worse than paying $ 30 for a stomach ache. Skip this place and have brunch somewhere else.

I highly recommend The Mustard Seed on James Island. The menu is adequate with several nightly specials offered in addition. I would recommend the Pork Loin. The service was excellent despite the fact that it was very busy. Good experience and I look forward to a return visit very soon.

Stopped in to grab dinner with my partner in crime before catching a show across the street at the pour house. It wasn’t crowded but we had to wait a bite before we were seated. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I appreciated that they took the time to split the salad and entrée into two separate plates after I told her we were going to share them. The food came out super fast which I think more than over compensated for the small wait to sit. I loved that the daily specials are written on a chalk board that is than placed at your table, so fun, and whoever is in charge of decorating them has some seriously immaculate handwriting; major props to them!

The Mustard Seed was OK. The food was very hit or miss. I had the risotto which was a bad, bad miss. Risotto is a real test of technique, and they failed. Texture was way off, and there was far too much cheese put on top. On to the mediocre. Décor was just ok. Felt like a trailer made love with a warehouse and had the Mustard Seed. Confusing, but not terrible. On to the good. My wife and good friend loved what they got. She had the shrimp linguine and he had the lobster mac and cheese. Both were really tasty and fresh. That being said, I would go back to get the other two items alone. I think I just made a poor choice with the risotto.

I’m a creature of habit. I’ve been to The Mustard Seed a handful of times, and every time I go I get the same thing: the Pecan Crusted Goat Cheese Salad. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! It’s something I’ve got to learn how to make myself because I crave it even when I am far, far away from Charleston. But beyond their salads, which are all amazing, they also have inventive daily specials and clever names for their dishes. Plus, their James Island location isn’t far from the Terrace Theater, which shows independent movies AND sells alcohol. What a combination, right? Try it. You’ll love it.

Amazing fresh food that won’t have you leaving hungry. You know how most of those fabulous food restaurants are: the food is great, but you’re ready for a burger on the way home, because you never actually got full. I promise, that won’t happen here! It’s true, it’s a great place for vegetarians, but it’s not a meat-free restaurant. Lots of chicken, and pork. Tons of seafood. You just won’t find beef on the menu. Absolutely LOVE the artichoke, parmesan & spinach ravioli. I’ve eaten inside several times, but when the weather’s nice, I like to eat on the patio.(Be forewarned, eating outside at sunset means lots of mosquitoes, though — I learned that as my feet were covered with bites one summer evening!) Service is superb. Beer is ICE-cold, and their wines are ½ price on a bottle several nights during the week. Perfect place for a date, a night out with friends, or whatever. I brought my sister here when she was in town, and they were able to accommodate her well-behaved 1 ½ year-old. I wouldn’t recommend bringing lots of kids, but if you’ve got a little one in the group, they can handle it with a smile! Prices are great for what you’re getting: they use fresh ingredients, and it shows in the flavor. Average about $ 10 – 15 per plate(some less, some more.) They’ve always got fresh specials that they’ll put on a chalkboard — well worth looking at. Last time I got a crab & lobster stuffed flounder on grits that was divine! If you have room for it, their cakes are amazing — share it with someone at your table, though, because they’re very generous on their portions!

It’s a place that wants to be a five and I really wanted it to be as well. Mustard Seed is a solid four stars and merited several visits, including take out, during my travels to Charleston. They got a nice little beer and wine selection and a diverse menu for a spot you might drive by a dozen times before you ever noticed it. If you want a low-key evening with good waitstaff and solid food, check it out.

I really like The Mustard Seed. There are more than a few vegetarian options, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is family-oriented without kids running around or screaming. ½ priced bottles of wine Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 5 – 8 helps too. My favorite entrée is the sweet potato ravioli… great flavor combination.
