Reasonable prices for the location as well as good food and service. I would recommend the blackened whitefish tacos. It’s pretty tasty!

We have grade school kids, I do NOT recommend this. We actually chose Villager because we thought there would be choices(from the online menu) for our kids. But the results were disappointing. Do not order the soup… weird… My daughter is rather a chili connoisseur and she sent the chili back(she’s 8.) My biggest issue is the restaurant’s identity and layout. It’s not nice inside. There is no factory in town, there is no need for a tacky ‘long-bar’ and it just looks outdated. The beer menu is non-existent leaving us to repeatedly send our server back to find out what«Arbor’ or «Cheboygan» is offering. Not sure why this can’t be printed on paper or the chalk board. Plus, no beer description left us highly disappointed. There are 3 different names for the restaurant, again… weird. The broiled whitefish was fine and fresh and my husband enjoyed the whitefish-and-chips. But we won’t go here again.

Best Spot to enjoy Charlevoix and good food! The nacho’s are the best on earth! Staff is experienced and professional! This will be one of my first stops when I return back to Charlevoix!

The Villager Pub was a cozy little place to enjoy dinner after half our family skiied for the day, and the other half may have been verging on cabin fever from sitting inside and watching snow fall all day. It was a late-ish dinner, so I thought I’d walked into the wrong place when I finally came in the door after getting the little guy out of his carseat. It turns out we walked in the bar side, and the restaurant was on the other side. No problem, and the waitstaff figured out what I was looking for quickly. I had the fish and chips and it was tasty. My daughter was quite happy with her mac and cheese bites. I’m surprised we don’t see them at more restaurants! Our waitress was very accommodating and good at dealing with our tired four-year-old’s crazy demands. Overall, I’m sure we’ll be out here again, since it’s close to the in-laws, and we had a pleasant evening.

This place is a short walk from our house and we eat here regularly. Good variety, the service is typically fast and the prices are reasonable. Next visit north to CVX is February 12th and I am already thinking about the 3 piece Broasted Chicken dinner.

Service was really good, burgers were mediocre. Mozzarella bites were yumolicious. Bloody marys looked awesome, although after a wedding last night at Castle Farms, I couldn’t stand to drink another drop of alcohol. Great spot in town to watch a game(or two, like we did).

Everything was just ok but it is a great location right on the main street. The bang bang shrimp was so overcooked it was unappetizing. Now that I got that out of they way I will obviously tell you about the chicken pot pie. They are not kidding about the award they get for that dish. The crust was so yummy! This is a must! It could definitely be a shared dish too. So go in, grab a drink and the pot pie :) :)

20 years ago this was off the hook. Not any more. Onions aren’t hand battered anymore. The fried White Fish was OK, I think they have changed the original batter from the original White Fish Company. Our server Chantel was the only redeeming thing about this place.

The fried whitefish was delicious. My husband had the blackened walleye, and it was also good! For the price, a great deal!

The villager is always a great place for fish and also Mexican food served in generous portions. At times during the summer months they can have a wait because this place is one of the best values to be found in downtown Charlevoix which also has consistent quality.

Did not eat. Manager was rude. This review is not about food. I did not actually eat here because I was not given the opportunity to. My wife and I walked in with our child because they had a lit«Open» sign in the window of the restaurant side. Apparently we walked in a couple minutes after the restaurant closed. I was approached by the manager who let us know they were just closed which was fine so I decided to let them know about the lit«Open» sign in their window. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the problem the manager decided to take the patronizing route and told me it was because there were still patrons dining inside. After she made sure to let me know in the rudest way possible that we were wrong for coming in, I decided they would never have my business.

Was a late night, bottom of the list choice to go here for dinner on a Sunday and it was nothing too great. The food was your typical, frozen– bagged, throw it in a microwave tasting variety. I ordered the nachos to share and my date got the bang bang shrimp. We weren’t sure the shrimp was actually shrimp and the nachos were bland but generous. Beer selection was decent and bartenders were cheerful and helpful. Its ok; there’s better choices on the same block but if in a pinch or a hurry and you’re not too keen on receiving above average or amazing food.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time based on recommendation of another bar owner and family, my husband enjoyed his Mexican entrée, it was a lot of food. However they do not know how to cook a patty melt medium rare, the outside was burned hardly any onions and the bread was bigger than the burger. Might try it again, depends. Waitress was good tho.

This has always been the locals inexpensive place for great bar food and drinks. If you want to eat make sure you arrive by about 9:30 to place your order. This year I arrived at prime dinner time and the line was out the door but luckily the hostess found me a nice quiet corner booth. I ordered the 2 piece fried whitefish with fries, tarter sauce and coleslaw. Just a tip here — IMO the tarter sauce is very bland. So I ordered a side of horseradish and mixed half of it with my bland tarter sauce and wowza I had one awesome tarter sauce to dip my fried whitefish in. Btw the whitefish here is excellent. Actually all the fried fish dinners are delish. My fries were nice size but cold. I didn’t complain because I really just wanted the fish and coleslaw. They have a full bar and craft beers on tap. In the past I have ordered the fish chowder and salad and was disappointed. The servers are quick, friendly and hard working. Definitely check out my pic of the other menu items. Great place for locals and tourists.

You know seeing how many people this place packs in you’d think it’d be a great bar with fresh bar food. Instead what you’re left with is a busy bar area with a side room that’s as quiet as the early bird dinner of a cafeteria. With the food to match. My wife and I were in the area and decided to drop in and for some fish & chips. Stepping there’s a decent size bar area with plenty of seating and noise you’d expect. I got kind of excited because it was the day time and the place had a steady flow of customers. Then I noticed that the gentleman standing in our way with a sour look on his face, worked there. He asked how many with a look of «I hate this shit» on his face. Then asked if wanted to sit in the bar area or a booth. We opted for a booth and were escorted to another room that felt like an entirely different restaurant. It was quiet as fuck! I saw a few older guys drinking so figured it didn’t matter, I’d still get a beer. Our waitress was nice enough but not as attentive as I would of liked. I mean I kind of wanted two beers but she only came by every now and then. Anyways on to the food… We started with chips & queso dip. I’m pretty sure they opened a bag of tortilla chips, threw them under a heating lamp and tossed some seasoning on them. Then they cracked open a jar of queso dip and heated it up. Sure it was good but I was starving and could have done that at home. The white fish dinner consisted of two decent size pieces of fish. They were indeed white, nicely fried and crispy. However they left the skin on so that was kind of lame. The fries were straight out of a bag and were actually warm at most. Cole slaw was whatever. All in all, it’s an ok place that needs serious help in the kitchen. The owner probably is ok with having an «ok» business with«ok» food. But eventually it’ll catch up and people will stop showing up. The food is nothing new or inspired. It’s basic food that is edible. The best part was the draft beer and the fish. Otherwise I’ll pass.
