Lovely little bistro with delicious food. Every bite was amazing. Place is quite small(kitchen) and they have a hard cutover from breakfast to lunch. Regardless lunch did not disappoint very friendly staff. Little tease of a banana bread to start just glorious hand made good food. Met the owner around the block later at Charleroix brewing. :)

Everything I’ve had on the breakfast menu has been wonderful! Pulled pork sandwich to go is so wet(with some kind of bitter brown water) that the bun was completely inedible. Their BBQ sauces were great though. Very friendly staff.

Cruised up to Charlevoix for the weekend, haven’t been since January 2nd. Can’t believe this is the first time we have been to Smoke On the Water, went for lunch on Saturday. The kids split a Traditional Club, wife also had the club and I ordered the Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich. Would come back again.

I girlfriend and I stopped in this afternoon and had the best meal I have ever had in charlevoix! !!! As I chef myself I am very critical of food quality and preparation. Well … it was a perfect menu, perfectly presented and definitely of the highest quality ingredients. The chef should be applauded and honored for her amazing menu and extremely talented and friendly staff. I’ve never felt so welcome at any food establishment in the area. They will get my vote for best place to eat in northern michigan… period… Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back often. I’m in love with your menu. And the décor and ambiance is what I have dreamed of my entire career. You are A++++ Thomas j Holt Executive chef Charlevoix country club

Had the brie, provolone, bacon and apple panini and it was delicious. Upgrade to the truffle fries with homemade ketchup for a real treat. Will definitely go back for breakfast another trip.

Had lunch there while visiting Charlevoix for the day. Did not disappoint! Great Mac and cheese. The Spinich soup was delicious and the pulled pork amazing. The server forgot to mention both dishes were a tad on the spicy side, which was fine by me because I enjoy spicy food. The service was decent, the waitress seemed a bit stressed with to many tables, but it wasn’t bad. A lady was going around offering free samples of their house made banana bread and it was great. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.

This place is awesome. There were 11 of us and everyone couldn’t stop raving about how much they enjoyed the food. I had the bacon jam omelette and it did not disappoint. Our server Gabby was outstanding.

Poor service, but the food was good. If only there were condiments, spoons for our coffees, we were served our drinks before our food, and it want so stuffy in there. A little ventilation please …

Delicious Eggs Benedict! Order fruit with: Watermelon & Cantaloupe slices. Very fresh with simple presentation. Could use some fresh Parsley on their plates too! Good to eat for fresh breath to start your day! Service outstanding. Atmosphere a little loud inside. I would order the Drunken French Toast, Thick Sliced bacon too! Yummy delicious!

Had the bacon jam omelet and it was absolutely delicious! I ate the whole thing in literally like three bites because it was so good. My boyfriend ordered the lemon curd pancake and he allowed me a taste. So yummy! We also tried the wild rice porridge and it was so good. Hands down we will return. In fact we will be back again tomorrow for Sunday brunch. I highly recommend this place when you’re in town! **Its Sunday now and we came back this morning for brunch. I tried the pulled pork omelet and loved it just as much as the bacon jam omelet I had yesterday. My boyfriend ordered the smoked brisket and liked it. He added a side of homemade BBQ to it which just made the dish all the more better. We can’t wait to come back again for more, to try other dishes.

Stopped into this little restaurant for breakfast while staying in Charlevoix. I ordered the pulled pork omelette the person I was dining with ordered the breakfast sandwich. Both were really good. I had never had an egg dish with pulled pork, but the combo was pretty tasty. Most things on the menu sounded pretty good. I had a hard time deciding on what to get. We did not dine in, but we got our order in about twenty minutes. While we waited, we walked to the little park next door and watched the boats go through the channel out to Lake Michigan.

I got a carry out order and I wish I would have checked it before I left the restaurant! When I got home to eat it I saw that for the $ 2.50 up-charge for truffle fries instead of chips they gave me FIVE french fries! Quite disappointing. Not to mention the 5 french fries I did get were very dried out and tasted as if they had been over cooked, or deep fried ahead of time and then fried again to heat them up. The burger was just ok, not bad, but not good either. The girl who helped me on the other hand was very friendly!

Only have been there once, but really enjoyed our breakfasts and we’ll come back again. Service, hand-cut hash browns, smoked brisket hash, toast and coffee were all top notch! Extra points awarded for home-made jams and bakery items …

Bottom line up front: we walked out after waiting for over 45 minutes for our food! Servers seemed severely overwhelmed. We sat down for lunch on Tuesday, July 7th at around 2pm. We had a group of 5, including my starving 4 year old daughter. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken promptly by a friendly server. So far so good, right? After about 15 minutes of waiting for our food, another group sat at a table next to us. Their orders were also taken promptly. We were then told that our orders would be coming out very shortly. Fast forward another 15 minutes. The group that arrived after us got their food. 5 minutes later, one person in our group asked our server if we were going to get our food soon. She told us that our order was ready but she just had not gotten to it yet. What does that even mean? So, we decided to wait for another 10 minutes for our food. Nothing! After a total of just over 45 minutes of waiting for lunch, we ended up leaving 2 dollars on the table for the one extremely over sweetened pink lemonade that we got and walked across the street to get some crepes. This experience was unacceptable. We felt like we were lied to by our server. All we wanted was to enjoy lunch and instead we ended up wasting our time sitting and waiting. and we were never told why our food was so slow to arrive. A little communication goes a long way. This time, it fell short… by a LOT!

I had the homemade biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs on top and my husband had the beef brisket hash with 2 eggs on top. I thought my biscuits and gravy were amazing! It had large chunks of homemade sausage from scratch. The brisket from the hash is smoked early every morning and very flavorful. My kids shared the decadent French toast soaked in champagne. The venue has a small town character. The staff are friendly. And my coffee cup was never left empty. If you enjoy breakfast, definitely check this place out.

Really nice breakfast option in Charlevoix. Had the brisket hash which was pretty decent after a bit of hot sauce. Most items made from scratch and fresh squeezed orange juice. Ferris coffee was a nice touch in a town that seems to be severely lacking in good coffee options.

Had the smoked brisket hash with over medium eggs. After adding some homemade ketchup it was devoured in minutes. The brisket was awesome and everything was seasoned perfectly. We also ordered the all American and it was really good as well. The orange juice tastes fresh squeezed and they brought out banana bread for us that we didn’t order but should have because it was moist and really good. Definitely coming back here for breakfast next time through.

Best breakfast AND lunch in this small town Nothing is bad here and everything is made from scratch. It truly is that perfect hole in the wall serving up fresh made plates that will surly cause a foodgasm. You wouldn’t expect great food from peering through the window into the small diner with rickety flooring and chairs. But they are proud of what the create here and each dish will impress. I personally love the hand patted sausage pattys and french toast!

Excellent — Tasty Sandwiches — We stopped In almost every restaurant looking for a lunch spot. When we entered the restaurant we smelled the smoker, smoking meats on the side porch. The staff was inviting and friendly. I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and my wife the smoked chicken salad sandwich. Everything is made on site except the chips. Fresh breads, home made pickles, ketchup, and cole slaw. We also tried the potato soup. It was a nice experience and far better than the fried or cold cut options in town. Why not?
